1. I'm looking for a combo at the minute for pub gigs & was dead set on a tc but then someone suggested the Promethian 3110. Has anyone used both?
2.
For £100 if you want to go for new then maybe a Fender Rumble 15. For practice I've always found it invaluable to have an aux in to plug in my iPod and a headphone socket so not to annoy the wife
Good call, forgot about these.
3.
Regarding the Hoover, the question is.... Do you utilise the crevice tool?
Is that what it's called, now I can go to A&E with a clear explanation.
4.
Excellent. But does it mean that anyone who doesn't have a Stingray likes to please men? That's a bit of a sweeping statement. But then I quite often push the Hoover around a bit, so I'm not quite sure where that leaves me.
I often push the Hoover round while wearing woman's lingerie in an attempt to please everyone. I also own a Stingray but I keep it in the closet.
5. With your budget I'd look at used gear. I can recommend the little Hartke combos. I have the A35 that's ideal for home use. If you want something with more ball's then Peavey TKOs are nice.
6. I hear you dingus, but dare I say that I'm surprised my little tongue in cheek comment was removed but the thread in general discussion about the 'killers chords' is allowed to continue. Anyway, I vote Stingray, I like Bergs but I like Stingrays more.
7.
I can sit how I want thanks... I'd have preferred a snarky comment about my poor right hand position than one comparing me to a girl! Thanks though.. It is a nice picture.
I'm only joking with you buddy, I thought you'd have got it when I said nice picture. Sorry if your offended.
8. My lighthearted comment that didn't offend anyone has been removed! What's happening to this place. (it was a Simpson's quote btw, good enough for sky 1 but inappropriate here it seems)
9.
A photo from a shoot I did with my function band a few weeks ago...
Sit like a man son. Leg crossing is for girls. Nice picture tho
10. I use Spotify & mp3s from my phone through a mixer now, much easier I think.
11.
I've just found out that the BT2 doesn't come with a power supply so that adds about £20-£30 to the equation. I don't know if I can use the power supply for the BT1 as it has a different model number. Sneaky way to keep the price down!
I don't know about keeping the price down, my bt10 didn't come with one either and that was still a ton. I don't use it now either. Batteries last well though
12. Ah cool, thanks. I wasn't sure it would be as simple as that, thought I might have to use a DI. Off cable shopping
13. For home practice I'm using a mixer and my phone and it works great. However, the line in on the mixer has no gain or eq so I was wondering if it's possible to run the phone through the single xlr on one of the channels? I'm not clued up on signals and things & don't want to spend loads on cables in a trial & error fashion. Any advice gratefully received. Ta
14.
I don't think so. Apart from the people who directly try and rip her off (you should see some of them) I think it is fairly unique.
That must be really annoying for her.
15. I really like it but excuse my ignorance, does that style have a particular name?
16. Get your hair cut hippie..... Very cool.
17. I've always realised there was a difference between practices but didn't know what it was called. I spent a good number of years just ticking over & staying in my comfort zone, divergent I guess. Since taking up lessons I don't waste too much time hammering it in so to speak. I now tend to approach practice with a goal in mind everytime.
18. About a month ago I happened to have what I thought to be a one way conversation with the Mrs about a compressor and how I probably should get one. Today the postie turned up with a parcel I opened it not realising it didn't have my name on (oops) and was very surprised to find a nice shiny new MXR Bass Compressor. So as I'm the only bass player in our house I can only imagine it's my crimbo pressie. Result.
19. I can't help you with tabs or tutorials but your not limited to the roots. Do you know the chords? Try adding fifths and thirds and any of the notes of the relative scales. You will find it much more rewarding if you come up with your own lines. It takes time but the more you do it the easier it becomes.
20.
If I spent as much time practising as I do piddling around on Basschat...
Amen brother
21. My understanding is that the current sterling range are the licenced copies of the musicman basses. Not to be confused with the Musicman Sterling, that's a different bass altogether. Sterlings are to MM what MIM is to Fender, put bluntly. Edit for the brain fart
