1. Dare I say there is an app available on android. Can't remember what its called but all you need is earphones and your mobile. Then everyday when you go for a $hit. Job done.
2. I've always used Allen keys for pickup height & on the bass side it almost sucked it out of my fingers while the treble side hardly had any pull. I've never noticed any frequency difference until now. The D & G strings sound quieter I think, but I might be imagining it.
3. So while messing around with the pickup height on one of my Yamaha Bb's I noticed that the magnet on the treble side of the neck pickup is much weaker than the bass side. Is this an indication of something going wrong?
4. The bridge from yamaha is a hefty 97 quid. I've just picked up a 1024 with case for 350. Just a thought.
5. I shot the Sheriff (Clapton) & Watching the Detectives. Wow,
6. Today I learnt Bruno Mars, Locked out of Heaven. To the disgust of my eldest son. I'm too old apparently.
7.
Hung the body up while the finish hardens. So doing a bit of research... the molotow sprays I've been using seem to be typical guitar nitro but with a plasticised resin or something. They are easy and fun to use thats for sure. oh and £3.50 each rather than the £15 -20 for "guitar" nitro..... know which I would go for!
I wonder how they age? I've got a Jazz that I finished in Nitro a while back and its already starting to check & look aged. Just need the hardware to catch up. Your right about the price though, I used two clear and one colour & £15 a go plus primer. Ouch!
8.
Can I not just hold my breath?
Depends if you value your lung function..
9. I've been bought a used 1024 this week by my lovely wife & I'm impressed. However one little fault was that I had to reposition the bridge as it was on the piss. If I'd have bought it new there's no way it would have left the shop. I'm sure not many pass qc like this & now its done its perfect. It is again another bass that fuels my love for the Bb.
10.
I know a few of you have fitted pre amps for your 414/415s, how different is that to buying a 614/615? I really like the passive sound but I also like the versatility in having an active bass. Any suggestions?
Bb614 Glockenklang preamp fitted, switchable active passive. Job done.
11.
[thread hijack] what are the best type of spray paints to use on bodies? I fancy a white/tort number...[/thread hijack]
I like to use Nitrocellulose but youl need a decent respirator.
12. I've always fancied an Orange, Black & Maple jazz with modern hardware & Bartolinis. Might get to commission one one day.
13.
nice BB
Ta,
14. Vintage White Bb
15.
Look HERE He had a workshop disaster for a couple of months and is presently without a computer apparently
Beat me to it..
16. There's another thread on the Doc, computer/ building issues I believe. Think one of the other members has a contact number, just look for the other Bass Doc thread.
17.
Those massive sounding pickups don't hurt , either .
I don't think the previous owner was too keen, he had them screwed right into the body miles away from the strings. I set it up my way and almost fell off my chair when I hit the low notes, nice to be heard.
18. Pickups that bite your head off and a lovely dark rosewood fret board. The neck has a deeper profile than my Bb614 but not as chunky as my Bb300, could become my new no1.
19. If I wear a bikini Itl be like bass aerobics oz style
20.
Tab too
Il give it a whirl.
21. I'd fancy a go at this to shake up the practice routine a little but I can't sight read. Is the book notation only?
22. Screws are often overlooked but I've had loads in the past that are so soft that the driver mashes through the heads, even with little torque applied. Definitely worth going to a fixings place and having a look, especially if like me you are always changing things.
23. Bass only for me, after finishing Dj'ing at the end of the 90s.
24. The Bb1024 that Mrs Horizontal (sounds wrong) bought last night
