1. It's my plan to shrink the fleet and just have one bass, so for grabs is my 1990 Bb300. Its a great bass with a huge sound and a nice chunky neck. No major dings, its in pretty good nick for a 22 year old bass. I have a generic gig bag Il include. £110 collection from the Midlands preferred. More pic's on request.
2. Not really, gonna try and be a one bass man for a while. Thanks for the interest though.
3. Realising I have more basses than I need its time for a cull. I have had this bass for just over 18 months and I am the second owner. Its in excellent condition with only slight surface marks on the pickguard. Comes with MM hardcase, keys & cloth. I think its from 09 but I haven't checked its got nearly new super slinky's on. £700 is what I paid and what I'm after for it. Would prefer collection from the Midlands. Better pic's to follow.
4. Nice, I've got one the same colours.
5. I love this. Matt nickel hardware would top it off nicely.
6.
That's the plan for just around the PUP...... Getting a smooth lacquer coat will be the hard bit!
Two cans, let it dry for a couple of weeks then flat sand and polish. Job done.
7.
Sorry for the ressurection of the thread but I'm not getting on with my BB 414x. I play the anchor thumb technique and the edge of the pickup is soooo far away from the E string. It mkaes my playing less controlled and precise. I think I'm goingto have to sell. I thought about getting the pickups changed but the BB ones have rounded edges, nothing else would fit Its a shame becasue I love the tone and the fell of the neck.
Have you tried playing behind the P pickup anchoring with the outside of the thumb rather than the center?
8. Reminds me of the time I was chased down the high st by an old red phone box. Scary.
9.
A big no-no for lemon oil. It's for furniture!!! It opens up the pores of the wood. Not good at all!!! Use naptha (lighter fluid) to clean all the crap off. Then use linseed oil to 'nourish' the fretboard. Use about 6 drops along the fretboard. Wipe it off immediately....
Will the Linseed oil be worthy of unfinished maple necks?
10. I hadn't noticed until it was recently pointed out, but when I sit with a bass aimlessly noodling I always seem to play in A or E. Must try harder Does anyone else have a Default?
11. There is negativity on the boards at the moment so much so that i don't find myself checking in everyday anymore, good in some respects ( i play bass more). I was going to start a thread about it but thought it would leave me open for a world of abuse. It's always the same members too, in my opinion. I hope it improves soon and the old guard (BassWorld) that seem to have disappeared start posting again. By the way, my vasectomy was supposed to be last Thursday but the quack went off sick, funny how there was GP industrial action that day. Mmmmmmm
12. I use G Strings tuner and Bass Fretboard Addict. But I'm a technophobe so what do I know.
13. I'm of the opinion that you only need one bass. One in the lounge One upstairs One at work One for gigs where it may have to be used as a weapon One for best One in blue One in orange And so on and so on.
14. A lot of bass & for Squier money. A bargain for someone.
15. How about a blend pot. Should be able to tame it nicely. Once you butcher it you can't get it back. Imo.
16. It's great your happy with it GK, I'm sure it will serve you well. And look **Awesome** in the process.
17.
That's now my PC wallpaper. Just stunning....
It's bang tidy, got me wanting a five string, without the pickguard though.
18. Well, I'm just back from seeing a local band (fat lip) and a Bongo 6 and a Markbass were in use. Awesome on every level. In my opinion.
19.
I saw several Fenders and MM's for more than this cost me. Peter
Did you steel it?
20.
Here's my response: If I'd have had the maple board it would have made my tattoo very difficult. See below... Rosewood is much easier to ink
That's Ace. Kudos man.
