TPJ A mag pickup that's another area to look at. Have you any suggestions as to makes and placement? I believe that a lot of players mount them at the end of the fingerboard.
Kirvo are from the states, Schallers you can get from Thomann, Armstrong make some in the UK. They all go on the end of the fingerboard, but you need to use strings with metal in them. Also, the Bassmax pups seem to be a bit less prone to feedback, just depends on where you are standing in relation to your amp and PA etc... You want to try and keep the bass away from your speaker at higher volumes to help reduce the chance of feedback. The FDeck preamps are very handy too as they have high impedence input, an adjustable high pass filter and a phase switch...all the eseentials There was a guy in the uk that would clone them for a good price, not sure if he's still making them.

Have you thought about using a mag pup for the rock gigs? Might be an easier way to combat the dreaded feedback.

Good stuff. Looks great.

Would a Boss LS2 work?

Too bad you have to part with the DB. I think you'll miss it But it's always something you can return to. Our originals band, The Now Nows, play a mixture of rock, punk, country and funk all acoustic....guitar, DB and cajon. And while we've covered a few hard rock songs, Sabbath would be challenging Best of luck on the new direction.

Great to deal with. Very good comms and prompt payment. Perfect.

I've run preamps all three ways you've mentioned . Currently I leave the FDeck by the amp bundled with the DI. IME, if you're not needing to make adjustments it should be alright on your amp.

Whilst scanning the Wanted section, I saw that Lozz was after a Tech21 Para Driver. I had one spare and a deal was done. Great comms, quick payment. Very easy deal. Thanks again.

I just bought Adrian's Status Streamline bass. The bass was too far for me to collect so he agreed to post. It arrived today superbly packaged, so much so I had to get the UPS guy to help me unwrap it to ensure all was ok His comms were excellent and very positive to help make this long distance and expensive purchase very easy. He is a very great person to deal with and very nice chap. Highly recommended and a credit to the forum. Thanks again for helping me get one of my bucket list basses.

fishfry bought some gut double bass strings from me. He was willing to work a deal for part of the set and his comms were very good. Enjoy the strings.

The Fearless speakers would probably fall into the FRFR category. I know my F112 certainly is.
Cheers- Ive just been offered a good deal on a used BB2 so might go with that! I do need a full range cab for the synth and EUB so it might do the job! Has anyone any experience with the new Markbass 1x12? Im sure its good but the specs (SPL and freq response) arent quite as good as the BB2!
If you need full range, take a look at the F210 in the for sale section. EDIT. Just noticed that cab is now sold.

Mike bought my 210 speaker. It was great to catch up with him as I hadn't seen him for a few years. Had a coffee and and a long chat. Great to deal with and no nonsense. Thanks again, Mike.

Here is a Bullfrog Alumabass 210 cab made in the USA in the 90's. I don't know much other than it uses aluminium and paper speakers similar to Hartke. It actually has quite a warm sound to it but still focused. We used this in a recording studio for an EP with various heads and I played it live a few times before that. It's 4Ohm and rated at 400 watts. Has feet on two sides. No cover. Jack only, no speakon. Covered in ratfur. It has a tweeter but no adjustment for it. It's also built like a brick outhouse and just over 26 kilo/55 pounds so collection or meet up only. This would be ideal for a studio or rehearsal room. £50 o.n.o collected or meet up around Wakefield. Really just need it gone so very negotiable. Now SOLD

Full set of gut strings. These came off the Duke when I purchased it from Rabbie. Lenzer plain gut G, D and wound A, and a Dluglolecki wound E. The Lenzers would be around £190 new from Thomann and the Dluglolecki would be around £120-ish after import and taxes. The plain guts were oiled regularly and are in great shape, still feel oily now after being stored for a year. The wound strings are in great shape too, the E shows more signs of wear than the A. I'd like to sell the set together if possible. £150 o.n.o shipped. UPDATE: All gone, thanks. Full set G string (fnar) D string A string E string

SOLD locally. I bought this O1V to use as a monitor/in ears mixer for a project, but the project never took off. Selling this as it's not getting used. I played around with it and it all seems to work...automation, dials, lcd etc... The Stagg case is a bit ratty but works for storage/transport. I also have a hard copy of the manual. For sale £225 o.n.o. Collection from Wakefield or meet up within an hour's drive.

Anyone know anything about the Duke Composite DB?
TPJ replied to missileme's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Thanks for reply. The answers here are making me think about the Chadwick Folding Bass along with the Duke Composite. Chadwick has a very large following that swear by it. I believe Ed Friedland has one too and raved about them. I am waiting for an answer from Thomann about several basses including the Composite, so I will keep the ply option open too.
If you need a DB for travel then the Chadwick is a no-brainer. They have a proven track record from pros around the world. They may not have the acoustic loudness of some other basses, but reviews indicate they do fine and the travel convenince makes it all worth it. Plus, you can recoup much of the cost if/when you sell it on.
