If you have a 4-ohm cab, volume will not be a concern....
It would be fine with just about any 8 ohm cab too. The F112 I use is a bit inefficient but it can take quite a lot of power. The R400 sounds great at lower volumes but our band usually run just vocals in the PA so I need more volume than I can coax out of it.

Do your Armstrong pickups have a jack or a phono connection? When I ordered one, I explicitly asked for a jack socket and Aaron seem confused as to why anyone would want a pickup with that attached. I said all other bass pickups work like that, but it seemed confusing to him. Mine came with a male phono plug on the bottom and I had to make a cable to use with it.
Your bananas look quite ripe. Maybe only a few more days before they turn. Possibly consider making a nice banana loaf with them if you're not going to eat them soon. Also bananas don't like other fruit, so I'd keep them apart from your apples.
Yes, I like them a little spotty...just about perfect now. They'll be gone quickly as myself and my son both eat them. The other fruit goes quickly too, thanks

Selling my HB R400. Hand built amp with a 3 valve preamp and class A/B power. 400 watts @ 4ohms. You can get a great range of tones from this using the eq section and contour. The DI out sounds lovely. This amp doesn't have the extra lights at the front. It was sent as a trial amp to a member here and then I bought it. It has a few scuffs on the case and front from my use, but is in perfect working order. I'm selling because my 8 ohm Fearless F112 speaker is greedy and this doesn't quite give me enough. It sounded great with other speakers I've tried but I only use the F112 now so I've decided to let this amp go. I've swapped the first preamp valve for a lower gain version to get more clean gain. The original preamp valve is included or swapped back. SOLD It looks bigger than it is in the photos
Need to find an AI showroom!
Where are you located? I have an AI Focus 1 you could borrow. Not sure how different the eq section is from today's amps but your welcome to check it out. PM me if need be.

Sean sold me his Zoom MB-60B. Very easy to deal with and great comms. The pedal was packaged very well and came quickly. All good

There is an AI Focus 2 for slae in the amps section. They are great for DB...loud and light with high pass and notch filters. You'd just need to find the right speaker. A Barefaced Midget would probably be just right if you are only playing smaller venues.

Just about any pedal will help a piezo as long as the input impedance is 1M ohm or more, doesn't have to be a preamp. Maybe try that to see if it helps the piezo tone. pm'd too.

I keep toying with the idea of another F112 but I just haven't had a gig yet where I've needed more. Small and big stages, powered by a GK MB800, it's all there for both slab and DB. Someone should snap up that F210 in the FS section, that's about the equivolent of a F115 but a different foot print.
It was a rough late-night performance at an event with free beer, so I've been a bit shy about posting them here...
Sounds like most of my gigs

Those East/ACG 02 preamps are a great way to check out filter preamps. If it's anything like mine was, you have vol/bal on one stack and then low and high filters on the other stacks. This makes using the pre a little more like "regular" active preamps where you set your pickup balance and then the filter is applied. Really cool preamps.

As promised, as I can't attend the bash, a pic or two of my bow holder. Those of you who are very astute will notice it looks remarkably like a curtain rod holder with the end bent over which you slide over your front pocket so the bow hangs to your side.
Damn... I only decided to go after seeing you were taking a Duke..I was hoping to give it a go with a view yo getting one myself.
I'm just over the tops from you (assuming you are in Manchester) so can arrange a meetup if you want to check it out

I had the same problem with mine, but with the G string. In the end I removed the bridge, all the electronics, and installed a new traditional bridge with adjusters and a Fishman Fullcircle. The wiring is very complex in there. When I had my issues Dino said I could uninstall the bridge and send it to him for repair, but putting it all back together would be a nightmare as there are something like 17 wires to disconnect and reattach! They are great basses but that integrated pickup thing sucks for repairs unless you are near and can give him the bass. I must say that mine sounds much more db like now with the FC pickup on there, just looks a bit odd with the different bridge.

I'm afraid I won't be able to get to the bash now. I've had some family stuff come up that I need to be involved with. Sorry everyone, I was hoping to catch up with a few friends as well as meet new ones. I don't mind still contributing to the bash costs and can send the entrance fee to whomever. I'll also take a shot of my bow thing tonight and post to pic on here so you can see it in all it's completity
I've been punting my R-400 around locally (I'm not letting it go for longer!), and Leszek has sent another out 'darn sarf' for trial, but I think someone bought that one.
Hi, I bought the other. It's a pretty cool amp but I'm finding that my active basses really hit the input hard and the gain is on next to nothing for a clean tone. This affects output volume. there is no input pad on these amps. Passive instruments seem to deal better with the gain stage. I'm playing around with input valves to try and drop the gain a bit. I also agree the DI is very nice. I haven't really used it in anger yet but will do in the next few weeks.
Greenboys have a very sweet midrange, as in sweet sounding. They will put out whatever you put in, a Puma 900 or GK MB800 are perfect amps for those cabs.
+1 They have a switch that alters the mids to give two flavors. IME one is brighter in the mids, the other less so which is my preferred setting. I use a MB800 but also have used a Hartke LH1000 bridged and that sounded enormous.

Have you seen this for sale? Might be an easier option than cutting open your bass. EDIT. Sorry, just realised that is all built in with the piezo and clicky, not a mag pickup. However, it may be that you can splice the mag into that somehow.
