    My Allegro resonates well and although it has a tummy rest, you can still feel it vibrate against your body. I bought it used and the pickup under one of the strings had crapped out, so I installed a regular adjustable bridge with a Fishman Full Circle and it sounds great. It isn't that much lighter than my DB but it's easier to move around and transport.

    It also depends on your instrument, how it's set up, how you play etc...It's not just strings. I took a bass for a health check up and it came back so much louder just from knocking the bridge and sound post around a little. If you haven't had your bass looked at professionally, it might be worth the effort.

I put a set of 3885OW on there, put the action up a turn on the adjusters and am really happy with the tone, volume and playability. The weichs are a nice string for sure.

    Nodd bought a Mesa Walkabout 12 speaker from me. His communication skills were great throughout and he was patient with delivery as I had a busy work week and couldn't post straight away. Very easy to do business with. Thanks Nodd, enjoy the speaker.

    Seems odd that you can't eq out the high frequency. I don't remember that kind of noise on mine when it was stock.

I've had problems shipping cabs and amps in the past, though not with the ones you've mentioned. The couriers seem to like to just drop the things off the trucks. Never very good for the insides of valvey things. I've also had some speakers end up being ripped from the force of being dropped. :/ It's hard to protect them no matter how much packaging that is used.

The BB2 is a contender. I'm also actually wondering about TKS too.

    There are a fine selection of Mesa amps right now, this combo being one of them

    Have you considered Innovation Honeys? I know they make 1/2 scale strings and they are medium tension too, just a little darker sounding perhaps than the other strings you mentioned.
