1. I've used both the Mesa Walkabout 12 and an AI Focus I into 2 Aggie GS112's. The latter had a little issue with feedback as it was so close to the bass in the venue. IME, Loud + double bass = feedback unless you really can prepare your bass and rig somehow to withstand it.
2. This looks like a good deal. Wish I was closer. You'll probably will want this moving to the DB For Sale section. I'm sure one of the mods will happily oblige.
3.
Workin' on it ... trying to find the ideal pre to run it through. Believe it or not, right now it's plugged into a Sansamp BDDI.
I can believe it...I run my DB through a n MXR80 with very good results
4. Great looking bass. Nice big fish too.
5.
Certainly it's a lot less than my Shadow cost me. But how can you rate something as good value that hasn't arrived for three months. Be interesting to see how this turns out.
Think it's been a 3 week delay, not 3 months.
6.
can you put me on the list too TPJ?
Yes that's fine. Keith and yourself are next after it comes back from lockpicker1969 as is Laurence if he wants to try it.
7.
Oh and side by side you wouldn't believe the 600 has twice the power of the 300, the latter really holds its own
+1 I use the Mesa WA for both double bass in it's combo format and the head with 2 Aggie GS112s for electric. Never seems to be working too hard at loud volumes and the flexible eq is indespensible for dialing in the double bass tone and getting rid of feedback frequencies..
8.
I've got one on my bass and its great. IMO its the best pickup out there.
+1. This one is going on a new bridge on my BSX Allegro EUB.
9. I'll have this Geoff
10.
The idea was to pass these Hurley Virtuoso pickups which TPJ kindly borrowed to me around the forum. When mine arrives i will be taking these back to TPJ. maybe he would lend you them

Thanks for all the advice and offer of the pickups I'll be in touch when I get the bass back.
Hi Laurence, it would be great if you want try the Hurley after Richard. The more players that try it and review it, the better. That offer goes to anyone else too of course.
11. Good stuff!
12.
I live just down the street from them so I went in after they listed that Archer on eBay, and the Archer they currently have on the showroom floor has a string missing...
Ex-Demo = ex-demolished
13. I would think that the speakers in guitar amps will go pop with bass, they just aren't designed to handle bass. Maybe at very low volume it would work but gigging levels may just ruin the speakers.
14.
When jwb came to see me a few weeks ago he brought down his MESA to try. Apart from the weight, it's a very impressive amp. It gave a very nice tight sound without any boominess in the lower frequencies. Definitely one to consider; anyone else tried it with DB?
Yes, I use one for the very reasons you mention. The parametric eq on it works wonders for taming rooms and boominess. Ther're not the lightest thing but for the size/weight they really pack a punch and can get loud. I used to use an AI Focus with Aggie GS112(s) for DB but now use that rig for electric and the Mesa for DB.
15. Did you crank the preamp output right up to give a good strong signal into the GK? That might afford you some more volume.
16. The New Standard Cleveland is top of my wish list.
17. Sounds like you were having eq problems. Did you dial out everything from 100-180hz and below? That may free up some headroom and give you less feed back as well as give a clearer sound. The PA is your friend if you are playing anything bigger than small pubs. Plus, IME, the drums can really mess up the DB.
18. Lovely jubly. Enjoy!
19. Apologies for the slight off topic post here How's the realist work on the solid body? I'm modding my BSX Allegro and am either going to have to get a new standard type bridge so a Full Cirlce can be fitted or find something like the Realist. The latter would be so much easier.
20. Nice looking kit. Is the tom bracket on the bass drum solid and does the snare throw work as it should? Also, is there a stool with this?
21.
I've got to be honest, but I don't particularly like the Stagg electric upright....mainly because of the sound. I'd prefer to look for a proper upright.....you can get a decent enough model for under £500.... A friend of mine has a beautiful $12,000 Juzek, but prefers the feel and tone of his $500 Chinese bass. Electric uprights are great but unless you are willing to spend quite a lot of money, they are no substitue for an acoustic bass. It is not uncommon for players of electric upright to not be able to last for one tune on an acoustic, due to the physical differences.
Not sure I'm with you on this. If you play an upright with the same action and setup as the EUB then chances are you'd be fine. Getting proper instruction would very much help in this regard. I think fumps has already suggested that he has a small house so the Stagg is probably a better option...for now
22. What's the width at the nut on this and what does the bass weigh?
23. I've got a Hurley off Ebay. I was hoping to pass it around so people could try it on their basses and we can get an overall view to it's usability. I'll post it to you to try if you like. You may need to sand down the wing gaps a little for it to fit. PM me if you want to try it.
