Aguilar GS112?

I played Double Bass through one last night and it sounded very nice. Not only great for electirc bass.
4. Yes you can do it. Being 43 puts me in the adult learner category (even though I act like a child most of the time) when I picked it up again after 12 years off. It was basically like starting over again. I'm now 45 and have no issues and my technique certainly aint the best. Getting proper instruction is key. Also, set the action on the instrument accordingly. Some players love low action and can achieve good results like that with DB. I wish you the best of luck getting back into DB, it really is a very rewarding instrument and I hope you get to experience that.

6. heh heh, that stings a bit. Have you tried another kettle lead or two? Also, I bought one of these used. It has a horrible noise going on all the time too, like the sub harmonic effect is on all the time. This comes through the headphones as well as all the outputs. When hooked up to a power amp and speaker, it's quite pronounced. If it's new, maybe you can return it for another.
7. The Art tube MP works well but has no EQ. Dave Hall's new DI EQ also works well and has a 1m input which works wonders for piezo pickups plus EQ. Tried my Sadowsky pre/DI but makes the bass way too boomy. Haven't tried the PJ stuff so can't comment on that.
8. Buggar, that is my favorite ACG shape. Best of luck with the sale.
9. What sort of tone are you after? The Innovation Honeys are nice strings, darker and gut like sound yet easy on the fingers. Also, if you're not playing at loud levels you might try a mic on it instead of a pickup, that will bring out more of the natural sound of the bass. Been looking at this as an alternative to the Realist. Have fun and welcome to the club
10.
I really want to try one of these (and/or a compact) with my GB Shuttle, are there any owners in t' North?
Hey bud, I have a Compact. Using it this Saturday at the Admiral Duncan but no other gigs for a little while. Let me know if you want to borrow it.
11. Always wanted one of these. Tube + great eq + sonic magic = great preamp. Good luck with the sale.
12. How's the balance on this? Any neck dive? Also, are you willing to post? Great looking axe by the way.
13. Innovation Honeys into Upton Rev2 or Fishman BP100 into Art Tube MP preamp into AI Focus with either an old Ampeg 12 or Barfaced Compact. We don't use a backline very often and when we do it's at very low volumes.
14. oofta, that'll make a noise then...
15. In-ears are a good thing IMO. I've gigged with and without. I prefer in-ears with a small rig to move air. It's tricky though if you play with several different groups. You'd ideally want everyone in the group on the in-ears as it's much more manageable. Downside is trusting the PA and sound guy and the expense.
16.
Every so often I found myself on their site admiring them
+1 Them and these guys too
17.
Sure I completely agree with the principle, anything that makes flying with a bass easier and less stressful is a very good thing. I just wonder why they didn't go all the way with the downsizing and make it very portable (like the Kolstein travel bass or the Eminence for example) rather than just chop the bottom half. Haven't played an Auray before but his normal basses are meant to be pretty tasty as far as new instruments go. I wonder how long it takes for it to settle down after refitting the neck and bridge.
This post is rather informative (the first Rufus quote). He hits the nail on the head. He's able to travel with his bass all the time.
18. +1 with DLP. You might try a local furniture maker or search t'interweb for speaker builders in your area.
19. What about detachable neck bass as a portability option?
20. "Are you willing to post?" sort of bump for a great cab.
21. PM'd
22. Hope they can get it sorted, it's be a shame to have yet another venue bite the dust.
23.
Much cheaper than the pad itself Alan is if you just buy the two Auralex foam strips and use the amp itself at the 'plywood board' that costs another £30 odd Boost them mids all the way, you know it makes sense
+1 You can get individual ones on this site. +1 on high quality ear plugs as well. Doc's Pro Plugs are good, Killnoise etc...
24. Where are you based abd will you post?
