Italia Basses

I wonder how it works with those Tipo basses having 4 big pickups side by side? If they are the standard lipsticks then would it have huge output with the string passing over four sets of magnets?
4. Hi Mate, PM'd about 212
5. After having played Jazz basses all my life, I bought one specifically for a project and now I tend to use it for everything when I can. I love the feel and playability and the way it sits in the mix, it's always there. My only beef is the slap sound but even that can be sorted with eq. I'd say get one if you've never had one. Sell it if you don't like it.
6.
good call Crazy, now theres a thought! a BC1 Shuker limited edition.
I'd like to see Robbie of RIM do it. He's doing a smashing job on Alex's. AGC would be cool as well.
7.
hello everyone. Ive had the Geddy Lee for about 5 month from brand new, its not been gigged, jus home use and is in mint condition. I paid £750 for it not so long ago so obviously dont want to lose a great deal on it. i just dont get on with it to be fair, theres absolutely nothing wrong with it. Im thinkin of going for a Musicman, so maybe if anyones interested in a trade or somethin, then drop me a line. cheers all!
Where are you located? Any pics would be nice as well. Cheers,
8.
Went to Manchester Academy last night to see Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes for the third time and they were absolutely brilliant. If you like the soul/r&b sound etc and want a good night out - just go. You'll also get to see and hear a really nice white Precision through an Ampeg. Here's a link to his www with tour dates etc. http://www.southsidejohnny.com/
We grew up listening to them and the boss in the 70-80's in the states. Great stuff. Part of my musical foundation.
9. I just googled "transparent orange guitar" and there are quite a few nice examples there. Click the Images search button. Cheers,
10.
You sound really p*ssed off Largo. Have you spoken to Jon directly about your feelings on this?
+1 here. You say it's just a moan, but the feedback would be better for Jon to hear and hopefully he won't get it second hand from here. Best to tell him your feelings really. He'd probably appreciate the comments.
11.
TPJ Sorry to hear your bass is damaged. Even at cheap prices, its still a pain in the 'arris.
I'm not that fussed really, adds a bit of mojo. I'll get some touch up paint to tone down the grey a bit.
Their conditions do exclude international sales from any kind of guarantee or after sale service ... I guess its only a £50 bass (or £47.88 at todays exchange rate) ...
Yeah, it was only cheap so no great deal. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at fret leveling actually. On a side note, Mr Taxman sent me a letter asking for £24 customs and duty so no escape. Odd that they are collecting afterwards now. They must have set up something with FedEx so the boys on the road don't have to deal with money collection. Anyhow, I'll let you know how the project goes with the neck. Cheers,
12. Received my bass the other day. Got a bit beat up in the post though. A 5p chunk of paint missing on the bottom edge and a small bit near the neck. The paint finish looks very delicate as in, touch it with anything and it will chip. I'm not really fanatical about keeping my instruments in pristine condition so it's no great shakes but the primer below the black paint is grey so the chips really stand out. Also, the neck has some issues. It looks as if the second fret is high so when you play F on the the low E string, it buzzes like a banshee. No amount of adjustments helped this so I'm about to carry out my first fret stoning/leveling as an experiment as soon as I locate the tools. I like learning about guitar setup and maintenance and this bass was only £100 so it's the ideal donor. There's another good neck lying around the house somewhere if it all goes pear shaped. Overall it will be a good bass to have around once it's sorted. The tone is ok and there are no electrical buzzes or issues. I'll keep a bit of a diary on the fret work either here or in the Tech-Repairs section. Cheers
13.
MB1. A guitarist in a band i used to play in, used to be able to get Chris Moyles on his laney combo!and various local taxi firms.Must admit it made rehearsals most amusing!.Ive always seen Laney at the cheaper end of the scale, they do have a lot to prove and theres a lot of competition in that area.
Our guitarist had the same problem in a rehearsal space...kept picking up the other bands riffs through his amp. Mind you, some of them where better than what he was playing
14. Sooo many, but here's a few Marcus Miller Jaco Charles Mingus Rocco Charlie Hayden Ray Brown Geddy Lee Leland Sklar Jimmy Johnson John Paul Jones on and on and on
15. I built a Warmoth 5 string Jazz bass in 2000. Swamp Ash body, birds eye maple neck and fretboard. Like others have mentioned, good quality, tight neck joints. The bass is just slightly neck heavy but this can be corrected with the right strap. There have been a few pickup/preamp configs but the current setup is Wizard pickups slightly over wound with an East U-Retro deluxe with passive tone control. Great solid tight sound and the B string isn't floppy. This bass has really taken on a great sound after years of playing. It sounds more settled down now than it did a few years back if that makes any sense. There is an interesting story here that might change your mind about where you buy your parts. Not saying anything either way, but there is also USA Custom Guitars as another option. Cheers,
16. gosh that's lovely...wish my MOT, tax and insurance hadn't just cost me £850
17. I realise this is a bit late but another source for parts is here. http://www.axesrus.com/ Cheers,
18.
The other thing I want to do is get a decal for the headstock. I don't want one that says it is a Fender because it will obviously not be one. I have seen one that says "Fender Telebastard" and would like something along the same vain but can't tink of anything witty like that
Don't Warmoth send their Turtle decal with their necks? That'd make it different.
19.
I just ordered one of these... I can't wait. I'm hoping it arrives before next Weds when I have a small tour in Denmark. I'm waiting for a Gotoh 201 to put on mine as well. Damn postal workers! I'll post the pics when it arrives and the mods are done.
Yeah, this tracking is great. Picked up 25th At Stansted 27th! Hope to have it this week as well as my bridge with any luck
20. I have actually bought and paid for this and have been waiting AGES. Anyone know this chap? Had to remind him to post and that was early Oct. Still nothing! Wake up mate, where you at!!
21. I had a BB1600 that was PJ and loaded with EMG's. Man I miss that bass. The neck was great and very thin at the nut, almost more than a jazz. It was very resonate and just seem to always sit right in the mix. You could get both a modern sound and a good vintage thump from it. Why did I sell it? (kicks self again)
22. You sure you want to part with this mate? This might be one of those (excuse the reference) dooooh moments if you sell and later regret it. Can't you just tuck her away for a few years and re-discover her later on? Cheers,
23. What about the possibilities of postage/couriers etc... Cheers,
24. Bet that sounds lovely!
25. Thanks for the heads up, I'll try PP. Cheers,
