1. God that is beeeeeeutiful. Between the Flea and OBBM's Status, I'm a nervous wreck!
2.
Would the omni12 be considered to be a "flat" cab? It could be the answer, although it's slightly bigger than I was hoping for!
It is one of the flattest. Mottlefeeder from BT/BW was kind enough to let me try his out and the sound was very even through the range of the bass and the dispersion was amazing. He also had printed out some SPL charts and the O12 has a very flat response compare to other Omnis and DR's. It is a big cab but it doesn't weigh a lot for its size.
3. Another option is to just get the 112 walkabout cab. They are around £400. If you already have a quality preamp or head, this might be a less expensive option.
4.
Ok only thing thats not on hold, or awaiting payment is the DHA VT1 Purist. Great little pedal I used it for adding some valve tone to my sound but since moving to mesa dont need it.Cheers Sug
PM'age
5.
Ad updated.
That's the first time I've seen a bump go up in price.
6.
MB1. I play 4 string bass! ,why should i be drawn to this? Tales of the unexpected! bring on the dancing girl!and spinning revolver.
Ha! I hear you MB1. It just looks so bad, you want to hock whatever you have got to buy the thing. It sounds even better than it looks I imagine!
7. Hi All, Looking for someone to take over my bass position in Duvet, the ultimate covers band. Easy schedule, pay is between £100-120 a gig. Easy set list and a good laugh. PM me for more details. Cheers, Tom
8.
what's the difference in tone between these pups and Bartolinis?
I had a pair of Bart 59J1's in my bass before switching to the Wizards. I can only comment on the sound difference I noticed in this bass. The Barts had a more vintage tone and were not as open sounding. The Wizards are very clear and a touch more modern sounding as well as being slightly more punchy. For the price, it's worth getting a set to try. Hope this helps. Cheers,
9. Pics would be good please
10. Is this still for sale? PM'd
11.
Well that ones easily solved because you can't get a Status neck for a Sterling.
Anyone have a 'Ray with a Status neck? Interested in what the tone difference/sustain etc... would be.
12. I have a set of slightly overwound 5 string jazz pups in my warmoth. They sound great and the customer service is superb as well. Wizard pups are definitely worth looking at as an option if you are wanting to change your pups.

Small cabs

Have you thought about the BFM's? There are 1x10, 2x10, 1x12,2x12 etc... Thumper over on Finnbass is an authorised builder now. Might be worth a PM to him.
14.
Here is another one for you guys, his name is Quintin Berry and he's a freak!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vm0xXDlXnO4
A bit gimiky that, really.
15. I once heard an interview with George Benson and when asked about his guitars he said, "..don't get me wrong, there are guitars I like to play. BUT, I tell the guitar what to do, not the other way around"
16. Where are you located? Cheers,
17. I've played Jazz basses almost my whole playing career (cough cough 26 years). I recently bought a new MM and I'm kicking myself for not getting one years ago. Mind you, I played a handful and didn't get on with them, but the one I bought played great from the start and is now my "number one guy..."
18.
I'd never advocate cancelling one bands gigs in favour of another. To keep sane and fair it should be a case of if band A books a gig then band B gets an offer the B offer has to be turned down! If you don't you end up with loads of potential grief.
+1 If you work on a 'First one to Book Me' principle then it is cut and dry, otherwise you end up letting others down. How would you feel if you had a booked gig you where really up for and it gets canceled just because someone decided they'd rather play elsewhere.
19. How'd you get this into the UK. They didn't post internationally. I was looking at the single MM pup model but couldn't figure out how to get it here. Cheers, Tom
20. Somewhat related, my old Hohner B2A has EMG Selects in it which are supposedly configured like P-Bass pups. The rear pup is very close to the bridge and it sounds fine. Cheers,

Acme cabs!!??

Have you looked through the Bill Fitzmaurice (BFM) DIY threads? There may be an Omni that will give you the sound your looking for. Cheers,
22.
I've got a MM sized one for sale ..
PM'd
23.
Team it up with a valve head when you get the chance. The Stingray will make big sexy time with your ears.
Well actually I run all my axes through a DHA Bob the Blender with no FX so it's an all valve preamp. You're absolutely right, the 'Ray just sings like a mo fo. If you hold out your arms to the sides like you're making a "T", that's how wide and phat the tone is. Fantabulous indeed.
24. Well, a string change later, including upping the gauge to 45, 65. 85. 105 together with a once over including intonation and string height seemed to have sorted most of this out. I was most worried about the low G on the E string but that seems ok now. I played my first gig with the Stingray, or Irwin as my mates have nicknamed it, along with the AI focus and Bullfrog 210 I bought from eubasix. Man what a sound. Why didn't I but a 'Ray years ago? Cheers,
25. I'll swap the strings and see what happens. The action seems a little low due to the neck not having enough relief so I'll set that as well. I never really noticed dead spots in my other axes, maybe I've been luck so far. Cheers,
