1. After getting into lap steel recently and reading all about what's involved, I never realised how important a good volume pedal is. Most of the pedal/lap steel guys will use Goodrich or Hilton as they are proven workhorse pedals with very even swell and range. They are both well over £200 new, so if this pedal is a great performer with little or no tone suck then it's sounds a sensible price. I don't know what I was thinking when I bough my Fender volume pedal, my swells are more like shouts
2. Might be worth contacting a cabinet/furniture maker to see if they could make something similar with a better fixing mechanism. The tricky bit would be getting it mounted to the NS. Maybe they could make something with the frame that the NS fits into saving having to drill and holes. Do you play the NS on a stand?
3. I bought some strings off Lozz. Another easy deal with great comms and quick postage. Thanks again.
4. How do you keep the amp stuck to the side? What is the depth of sound like with these cabs?

Pedal Board Blues

I use a M80. I've found that stacking another OD pedal helps it's distorted sound. Like you, I love it in headphones but feel it needs something more through the rig. I tend to stack mine with a VT bass. Placing it before and after the M80 will bring different dirt tones but a similar result. I'll usually run the M80 dirty channel with the blend at about 11 o'clock and the gain around 9 o'clock. That blend level is just about parity with the eq section so it doesn't get too boomy. I love the M80, lots of sounds available
6.
Did you get make an order TPJ, I've emailed and messaged but had no response. Luckily a local (to me) pedal builder has made me one
I bought one used off the forum so didn't need to make an order.
7. I bought an FDeck clone from Gareth so both the slab and double bass can use the same pedal board. Super easy transaction from start to finish. Great comms as always. Thanks again for the great pedal.
8. My TC mini whines from the power supply so it's not just the cheapos that can have a problem. I've tried it with a One Spot and a Mooer batter supply and it will often make noise. The Pitch Black never seemed to be a problem.
9.
I wish I was your side of the country!
I drove from W. Yorks to Perth in Scotland to get my bass. If it's a great bass, it's worth the effort to get there.
10. I have a 5 string BSX EUB and althought the body is obviously smaller the neck is still quite a handful. I think Bilbo plays a 5 string, maybe he'll chime in. +1 on trying one first.
11. I'd say that was "faulty" from inception of the concept
12. I had a OneTen and it didn't really work out for my needs playing double bass. There was just not enough clarity. It's great at other things but if you want a full detailed DB tone I'd look elsewhere. As mentioned, the Midget would probably be better suited or maybe the Fearless F110 built by Tricky Audio.
13.
Where did you order one?
Hi, this chap builds the FDeck clone. http://4114customeffects.co.uk/
14.
Mine is power supply, but you can choose either/both for all versions
Many thanks for the info. Off to place an order
15. Does that one on the right still run off a battery or from a power supply?
16. Doubling is a great asset. Check out Geoff's lessons on pootube, lost of great and helpful info. Discover Double Bass Have fun
17.
Thanks for the comments. :-) I'm really loving it so far...
What musical direction are you heading with it, Scott? (If you don't mind me being nosey )
18.
And there is a very nice looking bass for sale in the DB section, a Michael Poller, for £650. Personally I'd snap that one up.
+++1 Ususally second hand instuments have had most issues sorted and you get more for your money. Plus, Leeds is closer to you than York
19. Music theory is quite a big and deep subject. I'd search out online music theory websites and start there. You'll need to gain an understanding of keys and key signatures, scales and how they are built with modes, relative major and minor relationships, progressions etc... There look to be quite a few resources online to help with this.
20.
Mine works very well on a plug in, play and forget basis.
+1 I tried something for the firstime on a bluegrass gig this past weekend. Duke bass with a Lifeline running straight into an AI Focus. I only tweaked the HPF to tame the Fearless F112 and it sounded great. So easy not having to faf with an extra preamp. Still wish the Lifeline had a little more trebble to it like a FC but not a deal breaker.
21. Hi, do you have some more shots of the back of the heal where the screw holes are? pm'd
22.
Any one tried theirs yet, I would like some starter settings to get me going????
You probably just want to play around with it until you find what works best for you. When I use it, the vol is usually max and the HPF gets rolled back until the sound tightens and then I sometimes roll it up again a little from there.
23. Maybe you could post pics of the heads. Sometimes they look like bass guitar ones when they might not actually be. If they are, then it's probably worth investing in something well made. Also, lets see some pics of the bass too . I've always wanted a Bespoke but was never in a position to buy when they rarely came up.
24. I did a bass swap deal with Julian. He's a great chap the deal went seamlesly. Thanks again for the easy transaction.
