  1. Mmmm, Jaffa cakes.... *wanders through to kitchen, returns chewing with chocolate stains around mouth* Truth time. I don’t really have a behringer pedal. I do want one though. I want a Hell Babe but they can’t be had at the moment until the next bot arrives from China.
  2. Really? I’ve read nothing but bad things about them*. That’s why I sold mine. That and it was crap and made everything sound mushy, especially at open mic nights. *they voted for Brexit and trump. They’re COVID deniers, anti-maskers and they’re scousers.
  3. As I understand it (and I could well be talking out of my fundament)... If you’re going up to the fifth you’ll be playing the major 3rd, 4th, flat 5th (the “blue note”) and 5th which will work nicely in a rock blues setting so long as the flat fifth is just a passing tone. If you’re going to the root you’re playing the 6th, flat 7, major 7 and root. Again, that flat 7/major 7 in a rock/blues context works nicely as passing tones before resolving to the root. In both cases, you’re introducing a note that clashes slightly before resolving it on the fifth or the root. Theres probably a better explanation but that’s how I’ve explained it to myself....
  4. You were a busy boy in 1972 then 😁
  5. Many happy returns! Let’s hope you’re gigging again before you get to the next one!
  6. Obviously, they couldn’t find anyone with similar writing talent which is, of course, why Macca’s stuff has got worse over the years as the unpublished material from the real one has been used up.
  7. That’s because it’s not really him. We all know that he’s been dead* for years..... Its the ear lobes that give it away, apparently * I don’t actually subscribe to this theory but I do know several, otherwise rational, people who are convinced that the real Macca died in the sixties
  8. I expect this sort of nonsense from Teebs. I thought you were better than this.
  9. Graham bought my Epiphone ES175. A pleasure to deal with and an easy sale. The ideal BassChat transaction and someone I would happily deal with again. Enjoy the Epi Graham!
  10. I just upgraded my Zoom TAC2R to a Steinberg because I wanted more inputs and outputs but I can heartily recommend the Zoom. https://zoomcorp.com/en/gb/audio-interface/audio-interfaces/tac-2r/ It’s got two inputs, thunderbolt connectivity and just works.
  11. One of the most exuberant and joyful songs I know. I’ve been listening to it a lot this year
  12. Selling my 2014 Korean-made Epiphone ES175 Premium. It’s in lovely condition and comes with a Hiscox hard case. Currently strung with d’addario flat wounds for that real 3am jazz club vibe. Nice. There’s a little light bubbling of the paint at the heel of the neck (see pictures) along the joint which was present when I bought the guitar a few years ago and hasn’t got any worse - I’ve not tried to do anything about it as I figure it’s the start of the guitar building itself some mojo. Ideally, I’m looking for a straight sale but I might consider trades - what have you got? Price is for collection only (or a meet somewhere within reasonable travelling distance). I will consider shipping in the UK at extra cost to long-standing GC or BC members if I can find a suitable box. Please PM for details.
  13. Stefan just bought a Fender Stratocaster from me and has been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Lots of messages back and forth as we sorted out logistics, prompt payment (even working out and covering the PayPal transaction fees) and happy to go halves on courier charges. Stefan may be relatively new to the site but he’s shown himself to be a true gent and you should have no qualms about doing business with him. Thanks again, Stef, enjoy your new guitar!
  14. Stephen just bought my Mesa Subway, exactly the kind of smooth easy transaction that makes BC such a great marketplace; a brief message exchange, immediate payment and prompt messaging to let me know that the amp had arrived and was as described. Not the most active member on the forum these days but a great chap and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Stephen!
  15. Who leads? We both do. At different times in different songs. Sometimes I’ll add a little run down to a chord change, other times he’ll add a fill. Sometimes I’m pushing or dragging the beat and other times he’s doing it. At least, that’s what I tell myself. The reality probably sounds like a one-man band falling down a flight of stairs. If I’m brutally honest, neither of us really gets the concept of “four”...
  16. I view it like this; my car will do over 100 mph even though I don’t need that amount of power. But having it there is useful for reasons other than outright speed. Same with the sustain on my bass. I can choose when to damp or mute a note that would otherwise ring out. I can’t force a note to ring out when the bass itself isn’t capable of doing it. Now “heft” on the other hand..... 😁
  17. In answer to the OP..... Twerps
  18. Other than some bloke who spent a term trying to get us all to sing “Jonah and the Whale” and who, apparently, failed to show up the following term because of a nervous breakdown, I didn’t have any sort of musical education at school. We did a ton of Latin though so that made up for it* *No it didn’t.
  19. I'm confused (or stupid. Stupid is the most likely if I'm honest). The Ibanez website shows the Talman as 34" scale. It isn't, is it?
