  1. I’ve got a Q2n and am very impressed with the audio and it’s ability to handle high SPLs. The video isn’t bad - certainly good enough for FB and YT. I’d echo the fact that it eats batteries so I also use it with an external power pack. I hadn’t noticed the new battery/random stop issue that Silvia describes but then I never put new batteries in it anyway because of using it with the power pack.
  2. I think you’re confusing me with Young Teebs. 😁 It’s a great piece of music. I’m surprised it hasn’t been used as a film soundtrack
  3. I don’t mind a bit of fan noise. Not that we have many fans if I’m honest, but a ripple of warm applause is quite encouraging.
  4. Now Sold Up for sale is a Mesa Subway D-800 in superb condition, complete with Mesa gig bag. I took this in a trade recently and, brilliant as it is, I don’t need another amp. It’s way too good to just be a backup for the rare occasions when I don’t go through the PA and my main amp has packed up. So I’m moving it on to someone who will use it. I’ve checked it out and it all works as it should (sounds very nice through my little Barefaced One10). Condition is excellent - the only mark I can see is on the very top of the amp. It’s a surface mark on the paintwork, not a scratch through it, and is only visible in certain lights/from certain angles. I’ve circled it in the picture. Price is for collection. I’m happy to post within the UK for an extra tenner or to meet within an hour’s drive of the teeming metropolis that is sunny Cleethorpes - PM me to discuss options. PLEASE NOTE - I will only post within the UK to established members of the Basschat community who have positive feedback on the site.
  5. What are the chances that while you were off buying a new bass to sneak in, Mrs CtP was smuggling in a couple of pairs of shoes and a new handbag?* Nice looking bass 😁 *I know, gender stereotyping, sorry. Make it things related to a hobby of hers. Like... a MiG welder. Or... A couple of pairs of fins and a wetsuit. Or.... A couple of lenses and a new DSLR....
  6. Nope. I love it. OK, it’s not difficult but I love the way it drives the song. It’s only boring if you’re bored.
  7. As I understand it... If you’re playing in the key of C and C is the harmonic centre then E is a major third (you’re playing C major) and Eb is a minor third (you’re playing C minor). If you’re playing the E below C (or the Eb) you’re still playing a C major (or minor) but now it’s the first inversion. It only becomes an Em with a minor 6th if the harmonic focus has shifted and E has become the focus (or tonic). Otherwise it’s C major (first inversion) or C/E. I’m paraphrasing (badly) from David Mead’s excellent and very readable Chords and Scales for Guitarists https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chords-Scales-Guitarists-David-Mead/dp/186074432X Highly recommended
  8. Like a lot of folk, I’m pretty happy with my gear - always room for one more but I quite like the discipline of a one-in, one-out policy. Which then leaves the question of what bass gear I’d buy if I won a big lottery jackpot. Hmmm... I think I’d buy a suitable property and turn it into a small music venue. Exactly where and what sort of venue, I’d need to think about but at a time when so many places are going under, I reckon that would be a good way to spend a few quid. I would, of course, have first dibs on the bass chair for the house band...
  9. Run out of puff? Bet you’re chuffed.
  10. You need to find some other way to express yourself. The points you make are valid and I thinking of siding with you. Just hope the idea doesn’t run out of steam or hit the buffers
  11. That’s the ticket!
  12. Just trying to gauge the response and layout the options. Sorry if we’re getting off track but I think you’re missing the points that are being made and not seeing the signals. This is a platform that we can use to discuss whether a model train thread will be successful or whether we should shunt it into the bin.
  13. John bought my Gretsch Junior Jet bass. He’s relatively new to the site and this seems to have been his first transaction and so I’m glad to give him glowing feedback and hope this is the start of a long and fulfilling GAS career! Communication has been great throughout and payment was super fast. John understood and respected my wishes with regard to payment and delivery and it really couldn’t have been any easier - it’s been like dealing with a BassChat veteran Deal with confidence chaps! Thanks again John and enjoy the Gretsch!
  14. Genius. Love it
  15. I’m really tempted to get the DVD now - I’m not sure if this was the gig I was at or one of the other nights but it was certainly a great night. That said, watching the excerpt posted originally I kept being distracted by Rabin’s over-generous application of Just For Men. It’s either that or a really bad syrup.
  16. A friend of mine works for the company that owns and runs Manchester Arena. They have proposals for significant redevelopment around the site and they want as much public feedback as possible on the proposals. One of the questions they are asking is what local initiatives they should support and local live music venues is one of these. So if you live or work in Manchester (or not), if you visit the arena, if you think such mega-venues are the work of the Devil or even if you just want to find out what’s happening, this is a chance to express a view and have a say in the development. The information pack is here along with a button to click if you want to leave feedback... http://planningconsultation.avisonyoung.co.uk/ManchesterArenaPhase1.aspx
  17. Jon bought an Aguilar Tone Hammer from me and proved to be a real gent to do business with. Lightning fast payment, prompt comms and just an all-round gent. A pleasure to deal with and highly recommended! Thanks Jon - enjoy the little Aggie
  18. It sounds like there’s nothing to choose between them musically so they’ve both “passed” that part of the audition. It’s now a question of who fits best Into the “band”. You’re a group of individuals who have to work together as a cohesive unit so you need someone who can support and help build that. Maybe ask them both back for a full rehearsal (each) and try to get a sense of how they fit in. Assuming you do covers, ask them to suggest a song that they know and that you can all work on together and see how they approach the arrangement and being in the driving seat? If it’s that close to call then I think you owe it to both of them and yourselves to take the time to get this right. As already suggested, is there space for them both? Plenty of bands with twin lead guitarists.... Having said all that, if it was me, I’d go with whichever was the quietest. Good luck - it’s a nice problem to have 😁
  19. Just ordered a copy of the GW book. Arrives tomorrow. Past experience suggests I will probably open it in 2025. Unless we get locked down again. Then I'll be all over it like a tramp on chips.
  20. Last time I saw them I thought they sounded like a tribute band. Steve Howe still has it but he’s carrying them now. I saw ARW in London (must get the DVD) and thought they were superb - and I agree with the comments here, Mr Pomeroy was a joy to watch
  21. Another one for Ruby Baby. Gorgeous bass line. I also love the flow of the bass line in Don’t Stop Believing. It’s not hard but really nice to play along with. Like you, I used to busk a lot of lines but this year I finally got round to learning Living On A Prayer properly. Great fun
  22. I think it looks nicer in the flesh than in the pictures.... and I’m always willing to negotiate 😁
