  1. As promised, some pictures of the bass sitting in the garden earlier today. A little overcast and the pictures don't really show how the metallic paint really sparkles under light....
  2. Now that I've actually read the instructions and translated from the original Chenglish, it's 8.5lbs (about 3.9kg)
  3. Bloody cheap digital scales..... 🙂 I'll go check again
  4. I just weighed it and it's 4.15kg (that's 8.72 of our olde English pounds) on my super whizzy new digital scales..... More pics to follow soon
  5. EDIT. Now sold pending completion. Up for sale is an immaculate Dingwall Super P/J 5 (passive) in a gorgeous Candy Dark Cherry gloss finish (like a wine-coloured version of a Candy Apple Red). This has a number of optional extras including the Wenge Neck, metallic gloss paint, J pickup and pearloid block inlays. It has the fanned fret system but is 2” shorter than the usual Dingwall scale length. This makes it (in my opinion) a lot more “normal” to play as there’s no extra reach to the lower frets. Electronics are Dingwall’s own passive pickups and consist of the standard P pickup plus an additional J pickup at the bridge. The pickup control is a four-way switch between neck only, neck and bridge (serial), neck and bridge (parallel) and bridge only. This gives a massive range of tonal options to choose from. Condition is immaculate. I can’t find a mark anywhere on the bass. It comes with the Dingwall-branded Levy’s gigbag, paperwork and tools - all of which are also in immaculate condition. I’ve shown the pictures that Bass Direct used when they advertised the bass - these are of the actual bass - but I’ll post some more that I took earlier today as soon as I’ve had chance to shrink them down to an acceptable size. Given the condition and scarcity of these, I think I’m asking for a fair price but I am open to (sensible) offers. I’d prefer cash but I’ll consider trades especially if you have a nice, light P-bass. I’m based in Cleethorpes and, given recent experiences with couriers, I won’t ship this so you’re welcome to come and try or I am happy to meet part way so PM me to discuss options. I also come down to London quite regularly so could meet there if that helps. (This obviously means that I won’t ship overseas. I realise that I’m reducing my potential market but I’ve had too many bad experiences with scammers in the past so, sorry, but it’s UK only and collection or delivery in person) Thanks for looking - more pictures to follow later.....
  6. Hissing Sid is the villain of the poem “Captain Beaky and His Band” which came to my attention back in the late seventies/early eighties when it featured heavily on the Noel Edmonds Sunday morning radio show.
  7. Awwwww........ Cute
  8. Who, Teebs? Are we still allowed to call him that?
  9. Love it! Aw, thanks T
  10. Surely they'd be stacked on a stage with his body laid on top, his band's drummer would launch a burning drumstick onto the pyre and off they go with him to that Great Gig In The Sky..... I can see the venue owners being a bit miffed afterwards but that's the way I'd want to go.....
  11. What are you on about? It’s a cat, you numpty.....
  12. I think it came down to the new software applying a “tastefulness” filter. Although the fact that Teebs’ selfie got through suggests that it was inverted by accident......
  13. Handy that you both take the same size and that she was prepared to part with them.... 😁
  14. Wait...what’s happened to my avat..... aaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhh! Phew, sorted......
  15. I survived too. Does this mean everyone else is a zombie? Or am I? Will help come from outside? Please, if you can hear this......send more avatars......
  16. The puns. Quite definitely the puns. With the exception of Bobthedog’s Uncle Vanya quip. That was classy. But we’re Romanov the topic.....
  17. There are a load of great “practice” amps out there at the moment and an increasing range of features to help with practise. Do you want something with an aux input? Or a built in rhythm machine? Onboard effects? Headphone out, sure but what about footswitch control? i use a Fender G-Dec 15w guitar amp as my “quiet” practice amp. I never play loud enough to risk overwhelming the speaker with too much low end so I don’t really care that it’s meant to be for guitars - it goes plenty loud enough for me. it has an SD slot that allows you to load your own tracks to jam to, you can slow them down and alter pitch, play along with the supplied tracks as well as your own, play to the suppler drum MIDI or load your own, plus it has a bunch of onboard effects, a built in looper and an optional footswitch to control it all. They might even do a bass version now but I’d happily buy another one as it does everything I want a practise amp to do. There are others, of course - Roland, Vox and Line6 come to mind - so enjoy checking out the market!
  18. I sold a Genz Benz Shuttle Max 12.0 to Huw. An easy, hassle-free transaction from start to finish. The price offered was fair and payment was prompt. As Huw was away for a few days, I posted to his work address but again, no hassle at all and he was kind enough to let me know this morning that he'd got the amp and everything was working properly. So, in summary, a nice easy transaction with another fine BCer. I wouldn't hesitate in dealing with Huw in the future. Thanks Huw, enjoy the amp!
  19. +1 to the brightonion.co.uk suggestion. i mailed them a with a query and they responded within 24 hours. Really helpful chaps.
  20. I'll never understand women. Apparently, "oh do what you want and just bloody well get it" doesn't mean what it says..... Not when "it" is a Suzuki GSX-R
  21. Only to your face...... 😀
  22. A brilliant idea but what do we do about the poor unfortunates who are left handed? I guess you could stick them all into a group of their own..... This could work, y'know.....
  23. Surely your best approach was outrage that she should be going through your stuff. This shows a lack of trust and you thought she was better than that, etc..... That way you get to do the sad, disappointed look.
  24. PS is that a tiny Warwick on the wall at the top, or just a lot further away than the others?
  25. Nice...... I’ve used a VM4 as my main gigging bass for years and I love it. The neck is, as you say, fantastic and I love the sounds it makes. They’re great instruments - and that one of yours is a real looker; white on white with black hardware has an air of class to it. I’ve been playing the Rick today but I think I’ll give the VM4 a blast tomorrow. Enjoy the new bass, may it serve you well!
