  1. Triplets. Nice. I've always dreamed of triplets on a bed.....
  2. As in 'what the hell is he playing?'. That's the only mystique i project
  3. Not at all. I prefer to adapt my mood as the occasion requires. Your strap collection sort of enforces cheerfulness, whether or not you actually feel cheerful. Remember, the bass players job is to stand next to the drummer and look fed up. Largely because we're stood next to the bloody drummer
  4. There are good ones out there, for sure. And i get that some will always give a very positive spin because they're trying to sell you the item in question - if that's clear then it's not an issue. But a Google search of videos for 'xyz' amp will produce a lot more chaff than wheat, that's for aure.
  5. I'm guessing that your ties, braces (if worn) and socks are all equally bright and sunny reflections of your cheery personality? This is why i favour darker hues.
  6. Quite. I don't mind if the review contains a brief demonstration of what the thing-in-question sounds like when slapped, or played finger style or picked - or even used for metal. But there are so many out there that are just some sweaty bloke in shorts and bare feet sat in his bedroom having a ten minute slap-w#nk. There should be a warning at the start....
  7. Why do so many YouTube reviewers feel the need to demonstrate the sound of the instrument/cab/amp with a ten minute slap-fest? Or then there are those who don't even let you hear it and just mumble for ten minutes in some dimly lit bedroom. Or the 'professionals' with some matey banter who, again, don't let you hear it, just point at a load of knobs and sockets and read the labels to you. Finding a sensible review where you get a decent sound file, the bass is played in a range of styles (not just bloody slap) and the key features are highlighted is virtually impossible. </Rant>
  8. Guitar Tapp is an excellent aggregation app that pulls together most of the tabs from a range of online sites into one searchable place. The quality of tabs varies - of course. But it's a great little (free) consolidation app PS thanks for the heads up!
  9. Will the speaker sockets accept speakon plugs as well as 1/4" jack's?
  10. And more to the point, I'm sure the selection process is rigorous and challenging, designed to weed out the unsuitable and the unstable. So that's both of us out then. Anyway, on topic. I have two Comfort Strapps which are superb, a padded Mono strap, a nice leather one for the Ric and a furry one for one of the guitars. Oh, and a Gibson branded one for the Les Paul. All my Guitars have Fender strap locks which are excellent. So i have six straps. Mrs S just has the one (although she may have misheard the question) 😮
  11. No. No you're not. You're not a mod on here and so no, no, no. So there.... (Sudden dreadful thought that you become a mod.... Aaaaaaaargh. Nice Teebs, lovely Teebs.)
  12. That’s not sad, it’s brilliant! i love a good spreadsheet, will make one at the slightest excuse. My latest is a list of 64 songs, the order they’re to be learnt in, whether I have the music or tab for them, the mp3 file, etc. but this. This is brilliant. I can feel another thread coming on; best use of spreadsheets 😁 Deep joy!
  13. The word 'tasteful' has no place in that sentence. 😁
  14. Well i did this before reading Dood's cautionary note so I'll take the results with a pinch of salt. That said, I got to just shy of 15KHz which I reckon is reasonable for an old git of 61. I used to wear earplugs on the motorbike and I've worn ACS plugs at gigs for the last few years.
  15. I really hope that this doesn’t come across as being in bad taste as I really don’t mean it that way. If it’s insensitive, then, Mods, please remove it and I apologise In the thread commemorating barneyg42’s passing there is a very touching tribute from Leese. In it, Colin is described is someone who lived up to the definition of a musician as “A musician is someone who loads £5k worth of gear into a £500 car and drives 50 miles for a £5 gig“. I don’t think that’s a bad definition at all and one that neatly sums it up for me.
  16. The BC mods? You sure? 🙃 (grabs coat and runs for the door...)
  17. I really liked that. I heard all sorts of influences (a touch of Discipline-era Crimson in that first song) but she also sounds, well, like herself. I sometimes struggle with a whole album of singer-songwriter material as it can often sound very samey. There's also a bit of a limit to the amount of angst that I can handle in one sitting. But there's enough here to make me think that there might be enough variety to sustain a whole CD. I like her voice, i liked the songs and arrangements and i loved the bass. I'm certainly going to give the CD a go. Thanks Miles'tone for posting the full session!
  18. Some people make the world a better place just by being in it. Although i didn't know him, it's clear that Colin was one of them. Condolences to his family and friends. May he find his dream rig waiting for him wherever he's gone. RIP Colin
