  1. When you get the metal grill, you need a nice green “Twerp Elliot” badge 😁
  2. I completely misunderstood the title of this thread. Fortunately, I checked before I posted the pictures….
  3. Wal just bought my Zoom G5 and, as everyone else has reported, was a top man to deal with; prompt payment, quick replies to messages and as easy a transaction as they should be. Thanks again, Wal, a pleasure to do business!
  4. Does he? Does he really? Or are you just inflicting this on him? Cruel I call it*. Psychological torture. Banned by most civilised nations, that is. Put him in a little orange romper suit and you’ve got the Manchester version of Guantanamo Bay. Poor little tyke. *Not really. I think this is insufferably cute but where’s the fun in telling you that? I do think you’re at risk of putting him off the bass for life, though. Unless your plan is for him to lie there thinking “F_ck sake, Dad, stop murdering Reach, will ya? Pass it here amd let me show you….” Oh, and shouldn’t this be Tiny Teebs’s Teeny Tiny Bass Cab?
  5. Dear Mr Liberace, My suggestion is that you ask the same person who is going to drive you to the hospikul to pick them up for you. Or you could always ask feckin’ Alexa and watch it short circuit Yours, Lieutenant-Commander Margaret Merryweather, Women’s Institute (Paramilitary Wing), MA, Ret’d.
  6. Great project Teebsy. I’ll watch your progress with interest. Top tip: Probably worth getting a few bags of peas in the freezer. Apparently, they’re the best thing for keeping fingers and thumbs fresh while you get down to A&E to get them sewn back on
  7. Sold I'm having a clear out and I've finally accepted that I will never be able to play the drums. The kit has gone so now I'm selling my drum stool. I bought it new in 2018, full details are here. It's in immaculate condition, has never been gigged and has known only one pert backside (mine). It can be inspected/collected from here on the sunny Lincs coast (nice day out with the family and a little side trip to pick up a new drum throne?) or I may be able to deliver/meet within a reasonable distance or on one of my periodic trips to London. PM me to discuss. If needed, I should be able to find a box and ship it (within the UK) at buyers expense to long-standing BC members with decent Marketplace feedback (it's a decent weight and would probably cost about £15-20). Thanks for looking and please PM with questions. Here are some pics!
  8. Now sold Price dropped to £700. Also open to trade offers (see below) I'm not gigging bass any more so this beauty is sitting unused and that's a shame. I bought it new from Gear4Music in July 2020, The full spec is here but in summary, it's an Indonesian-made model from the Soundgear series and is part of the Premium line finished in Dual Shadow Burst. It has two Nordstrand Big Single pickups, passive/active electrics and the MR5S bridge with 16.5mm spacing. It comes with an Ibanez gig bag. Condition is immaculate, it's super comfortable to play and it sounds...immense. Trades: There’s not a lot I’m after at the moment but I’m open to suggestions. Among the things that might pique my interest are: something Ashdown in the bass centric stuff or, non-bass related, synths or keyboards or even skinny string guitars. Available to try out here on the sunny Lincolnshire coast or I may be able to drop off/meet somewhere within an hour or so. I also come down to London quite regularly so PM me for details. I'd prefer not to post but if there's no other way, I have the original box so I would be prepared to courier at buyer's expense within the UK only to long-standing BC members with (positive) marketplace feedback. Any questions, please ask. Here are some pictures;
  9. Thanks for the link. Looks like just what we’re after.
  10. We’re booked for a wedding function next year (I hate doing bloody weddings but I’m outvoted so…) and the venue are asking to see PAT certification for our gear and proof that we have Public Liability Insurance. I know that there’s a whole discussion about venues being against bands (preferring discos) and putting up as many barriers as possible but they’re also reasonable questions and it’s reasonable for us to comply. Can anyone recommend a suitable broker or insurer that does a decent PLI policy? Preferably on a one-off basis?
  11. Sold. REDUCED TO CLEAR AT JUST £50 (postage extra) This is also listed on GC but in case it’s missed over there… I’m having a bit of a clear out and first up is my Zoom G5. I’ve had this from new and it’s only ever been used at home for practice, as a result, it’s in excellent condition. There’s a ton of FX built in, plus a looper and a “tube boost” which is a handy bit of extra drive and grit for solos. It has XLR output so you can use as a DI box and there are 20-odd amp sims built in so you could use this straight into a DAW for recording or into an FRFR speaker and go ampless. The unique feature on the zoom is the “Z” pedal which is genius. It goes up and down as you’d expect and has different functions depending on the effect - but it also goes from side to side. This allows it to have dual functions - flick it left and press down and it’s (for example) chorus, flick it right and it’s (for example) reverb. Keep it centred and it does both. Brilliant idea. Heres a review: https://guitargearfinder.com/reviews/multi-effects-pedals/zoom-g5-review/ These seem to go on the ’Bay for about £140 but I’ve priced this to go as I really need the room. Price is for collection from Cleethorpes or me dropping it off/meeting when I’m on one of my regular trips to the Home Counties - PM me and we can discuss options. I can also post within the UK but this is a chunky beast so it’s likely to be a bit pricey. Say £15 max (but if it ends up costing less then you only pay the lower amount). The unit is boxed and comes with the PSU. I’m afraid the manual is long since lost but it can be downloaded from the Zoom website. I’ll try and get some pictures later but in the meantime, here’s a stock picture so you can see which unit we’re talking about. PM with any questions
  12. Skinnyman

    DI box

Oops. I meant the ART X Direct. I have both but the X direct is the one for passive instruments
  13. Skinnyman

    DI box

Basically the “flat” setting that doesn’t cut or boost the volume. I have an ART Z Direct DI box which allows the input to be cut by 20db. About £30 and works nicely. It runs off batteries or 48v from the mixer.
  14. I’ve never really been sure exactly what the definition of punk is. I seem to recall that at the time it was a pretty big brush and a lot of bands ended up being tarred with it by their management and record labels, whether they wanted to be or not. I’m sure that some learned musical historian* will have a musical definition of punk (and the distinction between punk in the USA and punk here) but as far as I could tell at the time, punk’s defining characteristic was an attitude. And, in some cases, a blessed brevity. Once the music press got hold of the phenomenon and hyped it up, every new band had to be “punk” in some way or other if they wanted to get a record deal or get decent reviews in the NME or MM. So were the Rats punk? To a die-hard punk fan, probably not. To a record company exec or a band’s manager trying to promote their product, probably yes. Did punk preclude the use of slap bass (or indeed any kind of virtuoso ability on an instrument)? No, but it generally hid it well behind that all-important attitude. *Or one of those cheap-to-make Channel 5 talking heads programs that trots out the usual suspects to pontificate on the Top 50 Punk Records or some such.
  15. Hi Ped amd the guys Two things (apologies if they’re already mentioned); 1) If one clicks on a username one either gets taken to their profile page or, for some, you get a “this content not found” message. I guess this could be the indexes refreshing but thought it worth mentioning. 2) I don’t know whether it’s the font (very “thin” and faint) or the sheer amount of white space but the site is painful to use on a mobile device. Is there any way of customising this per user or do I just have to learn to live with the headache? cheers
  16. Ale just bought my Vox AV60 amp. A pleasure to deal with and he has the patience of a saint, putting up with the fact that it took me literally months to arrange to drop it off for him!
  17. That’s a lovely looking guitar. I had a Faith for a good while and have had seller’s regret ever since I sold it on last year. They’re excellent guitars and incredible value - I don’t know how they do it either! However they manage it, be glad that they do and enjoy playing 😁
  18. PRICE DROP TO JUST £150 Edit: Forgot to say that I’m open to offers/trades on this as I need to clear the space so, whatchagot? I bought this from @herman back in 2016 as my first foray into keys. As keys aren’t my first instrument (as anyone who’s heard me will testify), it’s not been used much so it’s in excellent condition. Recently I’ve used it mainly as a 61 key MIDI controller but that wastes a lot of its capabilities. The onboard patches are excellent with modifiers to allow you to, er, modify the sound, plus onboard effects. In addition to things like chord mode, there’s a decent arpeggiator and nicely weighted, velocity sensitive keys. A review which gives more detail on the full specs; https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/roland-juno-d The keyboard comes with the original Roland PSU and a Swan keyboard flight case which shows a few scuffs but is still strong and sturdy. Given the size and weight, I don’t think it would be economical to post this but I travel up to York a fair bit and down to London every now and then so PM to discuss options. Pictures…
  19. I’m an over-playing beginner. Worst of both worlds really
  20. I’m even more tempted now. Typical - just after I’d decided to get the Wavestate! In reality, I know I’ll end up with them both so the only real debate is “which first”. I need to go try an Argon for myself….
  21. Nice. I’ve been looking at these and the Korg Wavestate (two different animals I know). How are you finding the Argon?
  22. I thought it was proper to do the introduction to the band at the start of the set, a la…..
  23. Not so much pub gigs but with “name” bands in theatres and the like, I’ve always taken it that while the house lights are down and there’s no music being played over the house PA, the band are going to come back on as soon as they’ve had a drink/done a line/yelled at each other*. Once the house lights go on and somebody starts playing Tina Turner or some other wildly inappropriate track from a Now That’s What I Call Music compilation then it’s over. *or whatever it is that they do
  24. Dangerous ground there. By that standard we’d never do the second set….
