1. Our drummer did this last summer. We were supposed to do 30 minutes but bands on before us overran and we ended up with closer to 10 minutes. The organiser didn't seem particularly bothered about it either. We did get paid though.
2. Listening back I think the reason I kept going over was because I was struggling to hear myself in a couple of places. But setting a limiter at 0dB is a good idea, I never thought of that.
3.
*blip* me! Has anyone here ever heard of the term "each to his own"? or.... one man meat is another man's poison, why are you lot so *blip*ing harsh on bloke's choice of bass? Don't like it? Fine, just STFU about it. It's rude! end of.
Didn't you read the thread title? Personally I think it is total cheese. I wonder if Vic also has a busty amazonian warrior woman airbrushed onto the spare wheel cover of his Suzuki 4WD.
4. Yeah the pres are pretty decent, I think it's just old habits from years of making do with cheap gear. Cheers.
5. Is that a Youtube video embedded in a signature? Now I have seen it all. Couldn't you just link to it? It's fecking massive.
6. I've never thought of personal stage lighting before. I am having a personal disco ball at every gig from now on. And one of those lasers that you can write swears with.
7. I've noticed while recording today that if I have to emphasise a note on the E string I come down on it like a ton of bricks and clip the preamp. Annoying when the rest of the take is OK. When you are recording, do you just give yourself more headroom on the preamp just in case, or do you use compression to stop it happening, or do you just have much better technique than me?
8. I got some fingerless gloves for busking because it's cold. They are MENS FINGERLESS GLOVES I GOT THEM FROM THE ARMY AND NAVY STORES, and I am wearing them because it is COLD. I am NOT wearing Audrey Hepburn gloves like Nigel, I would like to make that VERY CLEAR.
9. A mate of mine had a little Ampeg combo for a while, it had a flip-top head in it and a 15, and inside there was a metal leg that you could screw into the back of the cab and tilt it back onto that. Sounded brilliant too.
10. That's a lovely guitar man. I'm not in the market for one but what a beaut. I love old Mosrites.
11. Er... Where is the Riverside Bar? Is it new? I've never heard of it. Quick Google: Is it the place out at Stamford Bridge?
12.
Am I the only one who has no idea who she is?
I looked it up, she's got a page on Wikipedia. She says:
I was working my butt off on the show [Mad Men] and then all anyone was talking about was my body
Yes, this is the bird in Pete's avatar in the low-cut dress thrusting her massive tits at the photographers. Presumably she was doing that ironically.
13. I don't think there's a "funk amp" to be honest. Although a vintage Ampeg fliptop or a Fender Bassman would be good starting points but a bit underpowered. Try everything you can get your hands on.
14. My first bass was a £50 "Satellite" jazz copy, it was awful. My second bass was a Yamaha RBX-550M in black and it was lovely. I think I paid £120 for mine, new, in 1991. I sold it a couple of years later (to fund a totally lush Godin Acoustibass fretless) to another bassist I knew at 6th form and he still has it - I asked him about it on Facebook a few months back. Nice bass man, you got a massive bargain there.
15.
Just wondering if anyone else has one of these beasts?
I've heard basses and amps referred to (eye-rollingly) as "beasts" but this is the first time I've heard the name misappropriated for a carpeted plank of wood.
16. I would rather kill myself. I used to try to offer humourous modes of death in response to questions like this but I no longer find any joy in it. I would just kill myself.
17.
Ouch!!!!!
+1!

19. Could you publish some photos of the back of the bass, since that's where the modification was done? More photos generally I think would help your sale along.
20. He's nicked that off Massive Attack.
21.
? explain please..
It's the music you hear on Jobfinder. Jobfinder music. Musique d'Jobfandeur.
22.
Cant understand it when people when i hear "well i dont like it because it doesnt have the oomph of funk....well its not funk..and its not Jazz...
It's Jobfinder music.
23. This will go in the blink of an eye. Lovely bass mate.
24. It's probably never going to be loud enough. Adding an extension speaker would make it maybe 50% louder, but that still isn't going to be very loud and you will end up with a difficult-to-transport bass rig. You need a bigger amp, ultimately, if you're gigging.
