1. I meant to ask before: Do you also sit on your hands for a bit, so it feels like someone else is playing your bass?
2. The M9 just gets confused and warbles when you try to pitch-shift a double stop.
3.
I've got a Bassmax and Fishman Platinum Pro
I'm using this combo on my DB. I'm not entirely sold on the EQ on the Plat Pro tbh, seems like it could use more controls in the mids.
4. I got a message from him today too, in response to a wanted thread. I ignored it.
5. Reminds me a bit of my old Robot Factory Pulse Synth. That was a crazy little box, made some gnarly B-movie sci-fi sounds.
6. Either turn up way louder than them, starting playing soprano ukulele, or find another band that isn't obsessed with the current pencil-dicked metal trend of trying to play a bassier sounding guitar than everybody else.
7. I know a guy who's got an '80s L2000 that he is really precious about, and he swears the later ones aren't a patch on it. I haven't played enough of them myself to comment.
8. You can only play funk on one of these. On any other bass it just doesn't work, I've tried.
9. There's been a guy selling something that looks very similar on eBay recently for about a tenth of that value.
10. I can't remember. It was probably a Guns n' Roses song and I would've been using my Satellite jazz copy and probably a 10w practice amp.
11. You could do it with a simple true bypass looper (one into the input, the other into the loop return) if all you need is a mechanical switch. If you need to adjust the volume for each input, look at the Boss LS-2 - stick an instrument into each loop return and set the footswitch to switch between loop A and loop B.
12. I'm still gigging bass guitar regularly and I enjoy playing it but at home I don't pick it up.
13. Is it that red in the flesh? I like it.
14. I'm not massively bothered so long as it works and it doesn't look like a footballer's dining table.
15. Two for me: First bass I ever owned was a Satellite plywood Jazz copy that I paid £50 for. Turned out to be £45 too much.
My first bass...a Satalite jazz copy...4 peices of fence wire on a banana
^^ Hahaha.
MIJ Geddy Lee Jazz: just sounded puny as hell and the neck was so thin it was unplayable. Not a bass, just a long guitar really. MIA Jazz, late 90's. Shocking QC and tone. Described as 'rattly' by my then bandmates. Could not be set up.
... and an early '90s MIA Jazz (one of the 22-fret ones) which was new when I got it, I gigged it for a summer and by the end I'd had to replace the bridge, machines and electronics, and the neck was twisting. It was garbage.
16. I don't know enough about music to call myself a musician. I don't really like being identified as a bass player either to be honest. I don't know what I would prefer.
17. Whenever I get cramp it's from dehydration, because I drink too much. If by any chance you drink as much as I do then that definitely could be the cause of your problem.
18. Shaun bought my Bass Micro Synth. He has excellent taste.
19. Bump - someone must want to get their hands on my bits.
20. Ah right, garage fun time. I was picturing you stomping around trying to figure out which one of your six LED-less fuzzes was still switched on.
21. Why no LEDs? Are they all going on the same board? If both the above: Good luck!
22. Bought Ed's M9 multi-FX, which just arrived, and I will probably not get any work done today but that's not his fault! Cheers Ed.
23. Sold Len my Meatwad, all sorted quickly and easily, top guy.
24.
Every room is different. Front room playing can sound sooo different then on a gig. My bass sounded it's best outside I feel for you guys about finding the right string. I'm a "just get on with it" sort of player (which is by no means for everyone) and I just do my best to make great sounds with what I have. My struggle is with string height. I like it high but it makes soloing difficult, but I just plow on. I hope you get settled down sooner than later so you can play and have fun.
Oh I'm already having fun, I play it just about every day, it's standing in a corner in my dining room and I can't walk past without turning it around and plunking a tune out, and I try to get an hour or so to work on "proper music learning" with it in the evenings if I can. Which I'm about to start...
