there's nothing to stop you removing the back feet,
That was the first thing I thought of but they appear to be riveted in there. I'd have to saw them off and then bolt something else back in.

Cheers for the photo that does help - I'm going to end up with one 9v supply (currently a wall wart) and an M9 on this board, and my wall wart isn't hugely tall, there's not much in it, maybe I can just prop up the back legs by half an inch or so!
did you not think about where you'd put your power supplies before you bought the PT?
Yes, I thought if they didn't fit underneath I could put them on the top, which is where they currently are. I would have preferred to squeeze them underneath but it looks like it won't happen.
I shall give it a bash and let you know how I get on. How about the EQ, just leave it flat?
Big smiley-face EQ curve, brand new roundwounds, tone full up on the bass, if that doesn't do it then think about buying more gear, something like an American "super jazz" with active electronics would be naturally clangy, or a Status. If you've tried one of those and you're still not getting clangy noises then it's your amp or you!

FWIW I know an 18 year old bassist who has two basses: A violin bass copy and a rick copy. I think it's fair to say McCartney is still inspiring new players.
-
I think I'm going through the same thing. I thought my bass sounded boxy and dull and I was thinking about changing strings until I played it in the living room and suddenly it sounded open and woody and lively... It's hard to tell what a bass sounds like when you're standing behind it anyway.

It would be a difficult call for me as I don't like Stingrays or Sadowskys.
£150 for the pedal power 2 isn't bad considering there's supplies out there for around the same price which aren't as good.
Or I could use the £20 9v 1500mA daisy chain that I got years ago from effectpowersupplies that works for more of my pedals than the Pedal Power does. Only downside is it's a wall wart. This is why £150 looks like a lot of money to me.
What about a custom power supply?
That's a good idea but I imagine it would work out expensive. In my head I can justify custom costs for things I deem important like switching / mixing (actually I'm in the process of ordering a custom 2-channel stomp-mixer from SFX) that let me use my favourite pedals how I want to use them live, but like I said I already have power that works, it seems OTT to pay out for a custom solution just so it fits under my pedalboard rather than on top / on the back.
My biggest fear now is neglecting the electric so much I forget how to play and my band fires me
Hey congrats man, they're such great instruments to play. FWIW I never play bass guitar at home any more unless I'm working on some new parts for my band's songs. It's always the double bass when I get some time to practice. Be aware that if you're buying a piezo pickup you will in all probability need a preamp for it, unless your bass amp can handle super-high impedance at its input. Neither of my Hartkes could, and all I got out was a weak signal consisting of high mids and nothing else. Added a Fishman preamp this week and finally heard what the pickup is supposed to sound like.
-
We've already ruled that out on account of it being ridiculously expensive and still not being able to power all my pedals.
-
How are you getting along with the Evahs now? I had a go on another bass last week strung with Spirocores which I quite liked, especially the feel they were really twangy, but I got the feeling they would sound too bright for me overall.
This is why I don't like wall warts
Yeah they are an arse. Maybe I'll file down the prongs on my plugs and melt my 4-gang flatter! While I'm here who fancies PAT testing my gear?
-
I think if there's something you're after that you can't find, then a bespoke bass is one solution. Do you find that every bass you pick up you think "No this doesn't do it for me" for some reason? Can you articulate exactly what that reason is? If so, then get someone to build it for you.
How deep is your 4-way? (Oooh, came over all Beegees then! ) I've got one that's about 2mm deeper than the length of a standard 13A earth pin. The tip of the pin probably touches the back of the box. Maybe something like that would help?
Yeah mine is like that too (I checked!) and my lowest-profile PSU is really quite low, but due to the rake of the board although it slips under the height of the feet at the very back, it does protrude further forward.
thisnameistaken - could you not use a pedal power for the 24v? I'm sure you know, but PT's (Jnr's and up) can take them. Also, if not a pedal power, could a burkey flatliner provide a single power supply for you?
I don't think so no. The Burkey does 200mA max on each output, the Voodoo Labs box does 250mA. My Octavius Squeezer needs up to 300mA so neither would work for me. Also the Burkey is effing giant and wouldn't fit under my board. Also they are both really expensive compared to the solution I've got now which works fine, it's just a bit bulky.
I velcroed my gator gbus8 under my pedaltrain. Nice n light and worked a treat....and, ahem it's for sale in the fx section ;-)
My Gator G-BUS-8 is also for sale in the FX section! Problem is it seems one PSU is never enough - there's always some arsehole pedal that needs 50mA more than the outlets will supply, or 24v or whatever. That's why I'm looking to mount a 4-way rather than a single modular PSU. Another option would be to cable-tie a 4-way flat to the back plate of the Pedaltrain, it would fit there and still fit in the case with all the power supplies plugged in. I'm just not sure whether it's a good idea to stick a 4-way at the front of the stage pointing at the audience, I can't help thinking it would be too tempting for some drunken cretin.
There's a 4 way mounted under my pedaltrain. I'll try and get a photo for you, but it is velcro'd and cable tied in, with the plug sockets facing the floor. It isn't a perfect mechanical joint, but it has done me alright so far!
That's how I was planning to orient it, but even my shallowest PSU sticks down about 1/4" inch further than the back legs of the pedaltrain, so my board would be sitting on the PSU.

I am immune to guitar GAS. I go through a lot of pedals, but guitars... meh, a guitar's a guitar.
-
Yeah there's no space to be gained by cutting anything, it's just not tall enough, it isn't going to fit. Bah. I'll have to re-think it.
-
I've just got a Pedaltrain, and I'd like to use the underside for power but there isn't quite enough (vertical) room for a 4-gang full of wall-wart PSUs underneath it - it's not quite tall enough. Has anyone ever rigged one up like that before? On my old board I had the PSUs on top but I would like to stow them underneath this time if I can.
Too Drunk to F*ck - Dead Kennedys fun little bass line that jingles lol
Tricky to play IIRC, it's been a while since I played it though. Along the same lines: The intro to 'No' by Subhumans is a lot harder than it sounds!
