Hey Massimo. You do sound a lot like Jaco though, surely you're aware of it? Are you happy with that or have you tried to stop listening to his recordings to maybe put a little light between you? Either way, good sound.
This is probably one of the best bass solos on Youtube IMO:
Sorry but that sounds like Nigel Tufnel's solo where he bows a guitar with a violin. The one Brand X record I heard I liked, but that is foul-sounding.

Anyone know any where i can get a pedal modded?

Is this the older style BMS? It's a really easy job, I did mine myself. -
Blige I'd be well tied up with 30 foot of lead to trip over. Doesn't a 30 foot lead affect the sound too?
I can attest that 40ft definitely does. I once tried 20ft -> pedalboard -> 20ft and it was shockingly dull-sounding when I true-bypassed the whole board, even with active basses.
another reason for going wireless is the extra safety of not being physically connected to my gear thus reducing (or even eliminating) the chance of electric shock etc.
That's the only reason I'd consider one, but tbh I never even think about wireless packs until they come up in conversation on here. I sing on most of our tunes so unless I get a mic stand attached to my bass like Larry Graham I'm not going to stray very far. But the fact that I've always got a mic now makes me worry about earthing sh*t through my sh*t.
Another +1 for Interparcel. I sent a power amp 900 miles across Europe, it was there in a week despite being their cheap standard rate, and even with the extra insurance it was still just over 30 quid. No damage, but then again it was in bomb-resistant packaging. I shall use them again for definite.
I used them to send a Stingray to Spain a few months back. Worked out fine (although I packed it obsessively!) but it's still not something I'd want to make a habit of, I reckon regardless of the courier it's only a matter of time before a parcel turns into an insurance job, especially with something like a bass.

Most active basses can't be switched into passive operation, so don't let this put you off if you like the bass.
In the Crowd
I was playing along to that the other day. Top tune, even if they did lift the pre-chorus straight off The Kinks' Johnny Thunder. -
Nobody else smirking a little at "Faithless" asking for advice on gospel music?

Nice to see this resolved, and people keeping cool heads. You're like Fonzie. All of you. A veritable Eeeyy of Fonzies we've got here.
A very depressing photo indeed, what's that 5 knob pedal and how come it survived the massive culling?
My guess: A GGG Guv'nor clone. -
I am always getting requests through places like musofinder, bandmix, etc. There are tonnes of people out there in need of bass players. I'm not really interested in most of the stuff that I get offered (cover/tribute and/or blues-rock, mostly) but I'm busy enough with the two that I was interested in. I imagine if there are any bassists here without a gig it must be because they don't want one.

I've sent a few things to basschatters before receiving the money. Only once did I think I might not receive the money, and it turned out it was because I'd got my account number wrong when the buyer was paying me by bank transfer. I think I'll make it a policy to get money up-front in future, unless it's someone I've done a deal with before.

Buy it from the Gumtree ad and don't pay him?

The conclusion I'm arriving at is that bass players are now totally spoiled for choice. I remember when bass cabs were all fields...
When you cut the lows on a bass amp it's akin to cutting the gain, i.e. turning the amp down, because most of the power demands for bass guitar are in the lows.
Ah right, so it's like when my girlfriend buys some shoes and think she's saved twenty quid?
If you can get the tone you want with the bass EQ cut by 3dB that's the equivalent of doubling the usable power from your head.
OK this has confused me. I've heard that for every 3dB you need to double the power, but how does cutting 3dB at the EQ improve power output? Or if it does, is this bonus power ever usable, given that you've just removed 3dB from your sound in order to generate it? I thought I might figure this out half-way through typing but I didn't. Please explain!

I do only use a single cab because I'm lazy and only have a small car - it's a Schroeder 1212L and I'm surprisingly happy with it.

This guy does them for about £30, but you'd have to ask if he can fit a single bypass loop in his smallest enclosure - by default he sticks them in larger ones. I've got one of his loops and he makes good kit, mine's very tidy inside with quality sockets and switches.

What bass to take with me to France?
thisnameistaken replied to Jobiebass's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I would get a Squier, used if you can find one. I wouldn't want my "pride and joy" bass sitting around looking tempting in front of a bunch of perma-drunk resort workers. -
I've never really enjoyed his music. A bass-playing mate of mine is really into it but it's all a bit full-on for me I think. I do like some of the sounds he gets with those huge racks of effects though.
