I bought it again, along with an LS2 to actually parrallel blend with other pedals for unique synthy sounds,
That's the scenario I ended up in with my Robot Factory Pulse Synth - in one side of an LS-2 with an OC-2 in the other side. To be fair that combo sounded amazing, especially in the loop of my Meatwad, but the Pulse Synth on its own, as awesomely kooky as it was, just wasn't bassy enough for me. But I still miss it. Irrational!
I think that the LS-2 will probably suffice for my needs and the fact that it can also be used as a volume boost is a very attractive additional feature. I'm just a little concerned by the fact it may affect your natural tone (though the Harmony Central jury seems 'out' on that point).
I've never had a problem with the LS-2, tone-wise. I've been using one for about a year, only planning to replace it because it doesn't have a switching mode I want. It's a good pedal.
I'd say 00Funk at the beginning (envelopes need the cleanest signal possible (I think)) then the gated fuzz at the end, but that's the traditional way.
As Dannybuoy mentioned the 00Funk and Brown Dog are designed to work together to sidestep that issue. There's a dry out on the Brown Dog which can be plugged into an Envelope In socket on the 00Funk, so you can have filtered fuzz, but the filter's envelope follower still gets a 100% clean signal to work with. I'd agree with Dannybuoy's signal chain too. -

I never thought it would be fashionable to have a guitar that looks like a Dugong. -
Well done fella, bargain! i called them about that very bass about 5 ot 6 months back and I wanted to come and take it from the shop. They were having none of it, as they they don't do internet prices from the shop,
I'll never understand this sort of behaviour at all.
Pink + Sandpaper = No longer pink. Y'know...if that's what's stopping ya.
I've stripped finishes off two basses in the past and it's a surprisingly annoying job. It's not that I don't like pink, I just don't like that pink.

Here's my white Stingray fretless. Lovely bass, sets up well, hardly a mark on it (I've photographed the actual mark on it!). This is my first and I think my last Stingray. I bought it because I needed a fretless, but I never really fell in love with it. I'd like to trade it for another unlined fretless, I like Jazz necks so Jazzes would be considered if they're pretty. I like natural finishes but not highly figured tops, or headless basses or anything fancy that's going to show me up if I don't iron my shirt. I'd also rather not put cash into a deal, unless it's something really special.

Weird, mine tracks fine with fretless. You could look at the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe, or the EBS Octabass, apparently the octaver in the Digitech Bass Synth Wah is really good, or if you want weedy digital octaves the Micro POG's tracking is stellar.

Neck "rattle" - bit weird

Good call, hadn't thought of that, but I just checked and everything's nice and tight. Still think it's the truss rod. -
Just read your post properly & it isn't the same thing at all! that'll teach me to jump to conclusions! It might be a nut-height issue, or maybe the break-angle over the nut. Are your strings wound top-to-bottom around the posts?
I wondered if it was that, but the break angle is pretty good - each post has four winds around it and the Warwick headstock is tilted back anyway. I did wonder if I'd accidentally lowered the Just-A-Nut but then I tried to turn the screw for the E string and found it's stuck.
I had this on my Lakland DJ4. I changed strings and the problem went away I thought it was something to do with the string being loose in the nut, but I changed down to a thinner guage and didn't have any more problems so it can't have been that. Not sure what the problem was in the end, but all I know is changing strings got rid of it for me
Well I suppose if I put on strings with a bit less tension I could re-tighten the truss rod and it probably would go away, but I don't really want to end up in a situation where I'm throwing away new sets of strings every so often... -

thisnameistaken replied to thisnameistaken's topic in Repairs and Technical
Well my bass wasn't doing it before the truss rod adjustment, I think it's probably the truss rod itself vibrating because it's loose, I'm just a bit concerned about whether that's an especially bad thing, and whether it will go away or I need to make another change. It's one of the older one-way truss rods. -
I've had this before, and now it's come back: I had to make a truss rod adjustment today to put a bit of relief back in the neck after changing strings (I was getting some buzzing on the lighter strings from frets 5-9-ish). Only made about a 1/4 turn adjustment. Now when I play the open E (especially) or A (less of an issue) I can hear a rattling sound in sympathy with the string. If I fret a note it goes away, if I press the string tight to the nut, or apply pressure to the string behind the nut, it goes away. So it's strictly an open-string thing. It isn't getting heard by the pickups so it's not a huge deal, but it's a bit disconcerting. Is this literally my truss rod rattling around inside the neck? If so, will it go away as the neck settles into its new tension? Or is the truss rod itself knackered? It seems to still work OK. Cheers.
I know, there are no pots to look for dates/markings on Have you noticed any dates on the sliders?
Nah, had a good look at the sliders but there's no stickers on 'em, and obviously no stamps because they're plastic.
In that bracket, I don't think you can go wrong with a G&L Tribute L-2000. Great variety of sounds for very little moolah.
Tonally there's a lot of options on the L-2000s, but I haven't liked the newer ones. I don't know what they've changed but the last time I had one (early '90s) I'm sure it was a lot better than the ones they're making now.
I have been sacked from bands twice in my life.
Me too. When I was in sixth form I got sacked from a band - so I was told - by the drum machine, apparently it was annoyed that I wouldn't play Vision Thing. It was a Yamaha RY-30, so a fairly good drum machine for that time, so I had no argument. The other time I think I'd been hired because I sounded a bit like Stuart Zender, and I was ultimately fired because they wanted someone more like Me'Shell. When I heard they were shopping for a new bassist I told them I'd give them a month to find somebody and I'd cover any shows we'd already got booked, I was already a bit bothered by the fact that rehearsals were getting less frequent so we weren't working on new material, so I was happy to go. I received a call a few weeks later saying we were playing some outdoor thing and told them I wasn't, they got a guy in to cover it, the show was apparently atrocious, and they never gigged again.
I agree 100%. I sit here bemused most days listening to people talk about that distinctive Ken Smith "snap", or the "burpy" quality of the U-Retro preamp or how adding a cocobola 2mm veneer will add a "glassy" clarity to the top end or other such nonsense. I sometimes think its just a cock-measuring excercise.
I do wonder about people who replace the stock electronics in their basses. If you didn't like the sound, why did you buy it? I did once stick an active EMG set in a Jazz, but that was because the stock pickups hissed like buggery in every venue I took it to, not because I thought I'd get a better sound.
