See, this is why girlfriends are good and you shouldnt get rid of them:
I just posted in the drunk thread that my girlfriend is sleeping on the couch tonight. Hopefully she'll leave tomorrow and I can buy your Moogerfooger.
Ok...new cab series completely!
Any chance you could trim your signature a bit? It's been longer than your last three posts in this thread, and I imagine it will be longer than most of your posts in most threads. Maybe be a bit more economical with the line breaks? Cheers.
lol, you're the second guy whos offered me a WM:
Hehe. To be honest I want to hang on to mine, but opportunities to get LPFs don't come up that often and I figured I could get by with the Brown Dog-ish fuzz in the Octavius Squeezer, which is actually pretty dope. I can't offer you cash because it's my girlfriend's birthday this week. Unless I get rid of the girlfriend...

Just bought Dave's Squier Jazz off him in what must've been a clandestine-looking exchange at Newcastle Central station, one quick setup later and I think it's going to be ideal. Thanks again Dave.
bump, and for those reading: should I go lower with the price, since there has been no real interest in this so far... or would I be better of selling the electronics and 'get rid of' the body?
I don't think splitting them would make much sense. There's only one in the completed listings on eBay, went for £285, but that one didn't have any obvious damage. IIRC they were about £350 new but that was in the early '90s. Like anything else it's worth what someone's willing to pay for it. Maybe let it run a bit longer and see what sort of offers you get.
Nowadays, I can't remember my name unless someone shouts it at me.
I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday but I could play you songs that I wrote when I was in my teens that I haven't played since. And probably remember most of the words. The only bass part by another bassist that I feel I could guarantee I'll never forget how to play is Good Times.
If I get the 8 ohm, then the Tube 800 will run through it at 500W, which is the same level most people are getting as they have LM2’s. It should basically be the same sort of power…yes?
If you can produce 500W into an 8ohm load then get an 8ohm cab by all means. You'll be hard pressed to find a use for all that power but it's nice to know it's there.
I’ve heard a few say you shouldn’t underpower Schroeders as they don’t sound as good unless they given decent power.
I'm not sure where that advice comes from but I don't agree. I use my 1212L at home at "I've got neighbours on both sides" levels and it sounds great.

Yeah I've only used the Echo Park and DL-4 delays. Both sounded good and had lots of great features, but were a bit weak in the packaging department.
These are very nice. It wont feel like your Thumb (obviously) but they don't feel cheap either. Pickups are good, not great but good but easy to upgrade. Solid finish too.
Cheers for the info. I'm not really after a Thumb-a-like, although surprisingly the Thumb's doing a sterling job on the ska gig sound-wise but it doesn't look the part. This would. Just ran it by the girlfriend - it's apparently pretty enough to live in our house and it's cheap enough for me to still buy her stuff, which are her only criteria. I'm just trying to figure out if/when I'd be able to get up to the toon to collect it, really. Work and bands are eating all my time at the mo... -
Sandberg...?? anyone use them? want them?

Someone sold a lightly relic'd yellow/tort/rosewood PM 5 on here for about £700 (IIRC) a while back that I so, so wanted - no cash though. I keep looking for another one as pretty as that, but haven't seen one yet. -
Never would've guessed that was a Bongo from the audio. Cool stuff.
A bit off topic but we had a rehearsal last week, first one fo rover a year, and i took my SA450 but used the studios 2x10 (Ampeg combo) and a Ashdown MAG 1x15 deep. I got a totally different sound to my 1212L. I expected it but different but this was a shook. It had a lot of very low end and sounded, well to me it sounded like an upright bass sort of tone (P with flats). While i love my 12xx cabs and these do the job im starting to feel im missing out on something and might try and get a slightly bigger cab now to replace the 1212L (no offers, im not selling it ;-)
I ran through an Orange 2x15 at a rehearsal the other week and it actually put me off going back to big cabs. To be fair this was a rather battered old '70s cab, but the huge amount of bass was too much. I think with the little Schroeders you don't really notice what you're missing because everything's so nicely audible. I remember when I used to run with a "proper" rig taming all that low-end boom was really difficult sometimes and it would just muddy the sound. I know some people like to have loads of thundery sub bass but it just irritates me. I'll hand in my bass player card on my way out...
Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I wouldn't feel safe using non-soldered cables...
I was a bit wary too at first but I haven't had a problem with them yet. I suppose on a pedal board where they don't see much movement it's not a big deal, but I wouldn't use one as an instrument cable. I also carry a few back-up soldered patch cables for emergency replacement, a stanley knife (in case I have a minute to re-wire a dicky George L) and all my pedals run through a true-bypass box so I can go straight to the amp if anything fails. But so far I've never needed any of those things.
oh and the slim maplin connectors are fine for normal guitar cable - my guitarist uses them on his board, i think they may be more space saving than george l's too. you need a soldering iron though.
Bear in mind that these "pancake"-shaped plugs might obstruct eachother if you've got pedals with jacks very close together (Boss LS-2 for example), they are a fair bit wider than normal jack plugs.
I live on the coast near Newcastle and work in the city centre so can meet anywhere near or around. Dont know if you remember but i bought your fretless 6 from you? caught the train down to York for the day, I think the ticket was about £12.
Oh hi! How's that bass working out? I was just glad to get shut of it. I'll have to have a think about this, I've been thinking about getting a cheap Jazz for my ska band (so I can stop using my Thumb and finally put some fresh strings on the poor thing). -
That's right, the XO is true bypass, that's why I won't change to the world version, which has a terrible bypass, because then I'd have to get a loop on my board just for it.
There's a relatively simple true-bypass mod you can do to the old one. I haven't got around to it yet but the footswitch is 3DPT so all you need to do is re-route a few wires. Fair enough though if you're happy with the XO model. It wouldn't do for us all to like the same things.
Comments appreciated. Clubs and pubs are my venues mainly...for the moment. Ive got the 810 for big venues. I think you guys are right going for the 4Ohm. Less to carry...good volume.
That's the thing. I wanted to go nice and portable (because I live in a flat and my "music room" is two storeys up) but while I figured a single 1212 would be OK for most stuff I was concerned about gigs where it couldn't hack it. Let's just say since I got the cab I am no longer concerned about that.

Do your fingers sweat at all? Mine do, and I tend to burn through strings fairly quickly. Luckily I don't really want the super-bright zing you get from brand-new strings. Keep a cloth with your bass and give the strings and fingerboard a good wipe each time you put the bass down, get into the habit - I find that helps a lot. I keep one hooked on my guitar stand and stick one in my bag when I go banding.
Also, is George L's cable just regular cable that I'd be able to strip down and solder into those
The patch cable's a bit weird, very delicate. Works fine for the George L plugs but I wouldn't want to try to strip it. They do a thicker instrument cable but if it's anything like the patch cable it will be difficult to work with.
or is it specially designed for the connectors, and if it isn't, any reccomendations on decent cabling I could get?
Just buy an instrument cable and chop it up, that's what I used to do. I wouldn't worry too much about "tone" - you'll probably be running a 2 or 3 metres at the most, and your buffered pedals will keep losses minimal.
