1. Yeah it's a brilliant pedal. I've got other pedals that can do very similar stuff but I keep the BMS because for some things it's just unbeatable. I actually waited for other people to judge the XO version before I bought one and everybody said yeah, it's just as good, go buy one. You can't trust the internets these days...
2.
Im the dilemna now of half just going for the 4ohm 1212L.....its in stock. Perhaps the 8ohm version would be better! ARGHHGHGHGHGGH
When I bought my 1212L I was a bit concerned that it was 4ohm and it would be difficult to add a second cab, but honestly one of them paired with a 500W head is really, really loud. I don't regret it at all.
3.
Just curious if anybody's noticed any differences in how it sounds/reacts?
Lots. Will write more in a minute if nobody else does. Right... Basically the old one just sounds better. It seems warmer and fuller somehow - it's difficult to explain. The new one sounds (and feels, in terms of how light it is and the feel of the sliders) a bit like a cheap knock-off of the old one to me. It might be better for some stuff - there's more available resonance and at the top end it sounds a bit more complex, but the bass seems to suffer a bit. Also I found with my XO model it would distort if you played low (beneath low 'A') notes into it with the sub-octave voice up. Finally the "Rate" slider on the new one is set up funny, most of the variation seems to be crammed into about a quarter of the slider's movement, making it trickier to recall settings. As for the compactness, it doesn't make a massive amount of difference really. Once you've got a jack plug in either side and a power connection in the back you're not saving much room. And it can't be daisy-chained so it still needs a special power arrangement. In terms of tracking, with the preamp gain set correctly they both have identical performance. Try the new one if you get the chance, but don't sell your old one first. That's what I did, and ended up selling the XO and buying another old one, which isn't as good as the original old one I had (the stop freq. slider on it is a bit dodgy). Oh and if you do decide to sell your old one, PM me.
4.
I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
Why have you got so many Westones? Those natural 2s look great. What are the controls? I guess the top horn switch is a pup selector like on the old Spectrum guitars, what are the three knobs and three switches?
5. Didn't those Casio guitars and MIDI horns cost a small fortune back in the '80s? If they'd grabbed instruments from a school's music department it would've proved their point a bit better.

7.
6 string Bass, Clunky or not He is sitting in his frontroom and amusing himself with some chordal work, What do you want him to do...... Pick up his Precison Bass, Load it up with Flatwounds , grab his Plectrum.... And go .... 'Take your partners boys and girls' AN DA.......1 2.. HEREWE GO........
Yeah that's almost exactly what I said. Funnily enough whenever I sit down in my front room for a bit of amusement with a bass it always seems to end up on YouTube. I don't know who it is that sneakily records these things but they're making innocent bassists look terribly immodest.
8. I would add though that the repeats sound great - with the feedback cranked it gets really dark and gritty. If I was planning to use it in the studio rather than on my board, or without routinely using such high feedback settings, I'd ignore the bypass quirk and keep it.
9. Reminds me of Chet Atkins. Neat, but can't help but think it would sound a lot better on a guitar. I'm not picking on 6-string bass, it just sounds a bit clunky to me.
10. These days I get more work signing basses by Noel Redding than I do from my proper job.
11. Both my bands are really impressed with my 1212L, plenty of volume and clarity even for bass-heavy sounds, never seems to need much EQ either. Very happy with it. My guitarist picked it up for the first time a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe how light it was. It's the first bass cab I've ever owned that I didn't hate having to load in and out. I've never tried Berg gear but I don't think I will either - I see no need to replace this thing unless it proves unreliable, and I've had no problems at all with it so far.
12. I've had an idea for an LS-2 replacement I've been wanting someone to build for me for a while. Would you consider doing something like that? Basically two mix-able parallel loops with active volume controls on the returns to set the blend, and a few switching options.
13. The only real benefit to the George L's system is compactness and convenience. You can of course make up cables of any length if you've got a soldering iron but it's a lot easier to just slice them and stick them together. And standard right-angle jacks often interfere with eachother when you've got a lot of pedals in close proximity. One other thing to consider is you can re-wire the jacks as often as you need to, whereas if you're making changes to your cabling with normal soldered plugs you'll probably have to replace a lot of the plugs. I see the prices have gone up since I last bought them. To be honest I'd take some convincing to buy into them with the prices as they are now, I think.
14.
Another A Wilhlem Scream video.
Wait a minute... They're a metal band. Aren't they supposed to have very technical guitarists? They don't seem to fit in this thread very well.
15. So did he invite you over because you've ordered a bass from him? If so, what are you getting?
16. The first couple of basses I had were Jazz-type necks and to this day Precisions and Stingrays feel really clunky to me. I think they feel too wide for their depth, mostly. Although if they were any deeper they'd probably just feel plain "bad".
17.
Eh??!.. Nope, I'm still here! Ha ha..
*sends negative PM* I kid, of course.
18.
A hateful reminder of the permant nature of my fiscal indigence.
What he said.
19. Whereabouts are you based?
20. I've got a list as long as my arm (my long arm too, not the other, shorter one) of stuff I need looking at on pedals. Can I get a PM too please?
21. It's funny that Music Ground have got it. They're probably still touting it as Macca's bass and trying to sell it for one million dollars.
22. I could never get into Incognito. I liked Galliano a lot, but never thought Incognito came across very well on record. Same with JTQ - their records always seemed a bit flat. Have to give them another go.
23. I remember when I was a nipper seeing a photo of him in a guitar mag with a pink Thumb bass and thinking he was probably the coolest man alive. At least until I saw Fishbone.
24.
Yes the Wobo Inverter delivers exactly what you need - passive operation, easy to use, just what you're looking for!
Their site says it uses relays and requires quite a lot of current. Not so passive, maybe.
25.
Oh yeah, I have a Warwick streamer stage I for sale with gigbag and flight case. 600 quid..... Jut a thought.
That's practically giving it away. What year is it?
