1. I've got one of their bypass loop boxes, yes they are fine.
 2. I haven't tried one, the only complaint I've heard is that the knobs are a bit sensitive. I believe my Octavius Squeezer has the same circuit and it's a good sounding filter, quite clean and smooth. It's not far off the BassIQ in terms of character, really.
 3. I would recommend unless anyone here is a serious Boss pedal collector, paying in the region of £45 for a used OC-2 "Octave" would make more sense than paying double the price for that apparently valuable letter "r" on the end. There's no difference internally at all.
 4. Is this the bass that ended on eBay in the last 24 hours? I was eyeing it up but it's too fat a bass for my skinny ass. Would be a great budget addition to anyone's collection I think.
 5. Definitely a Tune or a Bass Collection. I'm sure I've seen Bass Collection basses with dot markers in the past, they flooded the budget market in the early '90s back when I gave a sh*t about basses, I've seen a lot of them. Did Ibanez build them? They always reminded me of Ibanez basses. Bass Collection seems more likely, given the number of them in circulation over here compared to Tune basses.
 6.
I think it looks very Prince.
Yeah I hadn't thought of that. Weird bass either way, I think even the hardcore Zender fans are going to stick with the standard Streamer. I love the old Warwick designs but ever since the Dolphin came out I thought they were smoking too much. I wonder if that's why Thumbs and Streamers are so cheap now, because people looked at the modern models and threw up.
 7.
My vote goes to Schroder 1212L. This is an amazing cab 2 x 12 with one facing forward and one angled. I have plaayed bass for over 30 years and have never come across a better sounding cab than this and so light too. Throughly recommended and after sales service is superb.
I'm currently using one of these in two bands - a hip-hop/house/funk band where it needs to be very versatile from tune to tune, and a ska covers band where it needs to produce lots of lows without getting boomy. It sounds good in both situations, easily keeps up with a drummer (I'm convinced it would do much more) and I can carry it in one hand. I was really surprised that it did so well in the ska band, and so were the other musicians! It doesn't look big enough for the levels it puts out. It also reproduces the sound of my basses about as well as any other cab I've used (including the beloved woody purr of my Thumb bass), and it reacts well to EQ. It's just a really good cab.
 8. I think we had a thread on this before. It looks very metal, not something I'd expect to see Stuart Zender playing.
 9. Not wanting to stray too far O/T, but: Has anyone compared the Sandberg J5s to the other Jazz copy builders?
 10.
Must see you coming then?
Yeah, I've bought every one of them.
 11.
Aye.. it's a Fender thing. Most of 'em have it in varying degrees.
So does my Warwick, and my Stingray, and... I think every 4-string bass I've ever owned, to some degree. Definitely not a problem specific to Fender, although I suppose we can blame them because everybody else's designs are based on theirs...
 12.
One question, if they are that good why do people sell them
Almost every bass I've ever seen for sale here has been described as "the bess bass I've ever played" by the seller. I think people are just generous and they don't want to keep all the best basses for themselves.
 13. I think I'm a 5-string bassist who only has 4-string basses. I do like having the low B but these days I use too many effects for a low B to be practical.
 14.
2:34" - hilarious
Excellent! Peter Gabriel's let himself go eh?
 15.
No idea if I have got the gig but even if I don't, then at least it has given me the confidence to know I can do it.
They don't all go that well - your next audition could be a complete disaster. Just kidding! Sounds like you played a blinder.
 16.
Well, to be completely accurate Tony Levin plays a Cutlass II
To be even more accurate than that, no he doesn't:
I used to favor an old Music Man Sabre fretless I have (did "Sledgehammer" on it)
17. Assuming you can play (20 years suggests you can play) it'll be more about whether you get on with everybody. So just be yourself - if you get it then great, if not it's probably nothing to do with your playing.
 18. For me the P-bass sound is (still) what a bass guitar sounds like. If I was a rocker I'd have a P bass. I don't know if the Jazz has much more in the way of versatility though, in practical terms. I've had a couple of Jazzes and most of the available sounds weren't that useful. I think if you want a truly versatile bass the first place to look is the G&L L2000.
 19. EBS make them IIRC. There's a thread about connectors, varieties and suppliers thereof here.
 20. Try picking nearer the bridge. If you naturally pick hard, that's the only way you're going to stop the strings bouncing around so much. Also try turning up if you can't hear yourself properly. You might be digging in too much to compensate for your low level in the mix without realising it.
 21.
Tony Levin-tastic!!!
Ooh good point, if it was fretless...
 22.
drummer goes "my equpment, my band, my rules"!!! I walk just before record company wants to sign band!!! F$ck 'em all!!!
Heh. I did that once, well it was more my songs, my band. Mostly because our original guitarist had left and I wasn't happy with his replacement.
 23.
The word 'b0llocks' isn't illegal here is it? ... Thisnameistaken must have said 'boo-she-it!'
No, he said the other naughty word above which you said isn't naughty.
 24.
I haven't heard Peaches, just googled it, is that the Stranglers tune? I presume you mean run it through an envelope filter in bandpass mode?
You haven't heard Peaches before? Don't say it too loudly, they'll take away your bass player card! I suppose the BP filter probably isn't necessary but I used to use one (with no envelope follower, just a static BP filter) with grit to keep the bass part focused in the mids (to stop the distortion swamping other stuff).
 25.
That's right, let's all knock what we haven't tried, don't understand, or worse still can't afford. The detractors here quite simply have way too much time on their hands.
I don't think anybody's said that they're bad basses, the thread is about how "fashionable" they are. But now that you mention it I have tried a bunch of Status basses and I didn't like any of them.
