1.
It wouldn't be the bass for me but it does look pretty awesome! Especially if your guitarist has a JS chrome guitar as well!
And if you both dressed in tinfoil-covered cardboard boxes.
2.
I would love another one of these but they're SOOOOOO HEAVY.
It's stealth weight though - nobody expects a Thumb to weigh that much. Quite what the benefit is of having a surprisingly-heavy bass I'm not yet sure, but I will come up with something. Brb. Nice bass BTW, thread-starter-guy.
3.
if Id bought a PT2 rather than a Junior then I think Id still be spending.
You certainly got as much as you could on to that board! Does it fit in the case?
4. I think it looks great but I look too much like a refugee to wear it.
5. I tend to know what's going on since I stopped drinking before shows, but I do remember a few gigs in the past where there was only a slim chance I'd be playing the same song as everybody else.
6. Yes, earache levels from the missus will be more bearable also.
7. PM replied, cab now sold pending payment/collection. Thanks guys.
8. Evenflow is excellent!
9.
sound clips are available here: http://www.talkbass.com/wiki/index.php/Eff...Database#Bogdan
Wow, it gets right into fuzz territory! Nice. Very tempted but I'm about to splash out on other expensive FX, and the tax man took all my money yesterday.
10. I've got a HA2500 that I keep at my singer's house. As others have said it's a little bit too quiet to use as part of a gig rig, but it's a nice and clean-sounding amp. The "tube" preamp really does nothing interesting though. I agree that the HA3500 (or bigger) would be a much more useful head.
11. On the old Jamiroquai stuff Zender used loads of compression. That was the most obvious thing about his sound, to me, it was heavily squished.
12.
Luddite says : I feel intimidated by his ability, consequently using my frustration as a catalyst must find an excuse to hate it (psychology 101).
"Bass Virtuoso" says: All my peers are getting gigs and they can't play half the awful-sounding pretentious sh*te I can. And they've got girlfriends and they don't get hung off the bog doors by their pants.
13. I would avoid the Gator Pedal Totes if I were you. They are *heavy* and they provide next to no protection for your pedals.
14. Bah! I can get one £100 cheaper but I've got to wait until the end of Feb for it. Was worth a punt at yours I suppose. They're like hens teeth at the moment. Anyway sorry for the minor threadjack, I'll shush.
15. If I offered you £450 for the Squeezer could I have it? Or could I touch it? Maybe send me a photo of it?
16.
ahh, gutted, i just heard one of them yesterday, its horrible i was perfectly happy with my setup before that :/ lol 'thisnameistaken' is a very luck man
I sold my old one the week before - you could've had that. Sorry I'm not helping here am I...
17. How much for the Squeezer? What do you mean you're not selling the Squeezer? But...
18. Being thick I've never heard of Paul Chambers, but good luck! Hey, maybe I need a book about him. Edit: Quick glance shows I've heard a lot of the recordings he was on. Now I feel really ignorant for not knowing who he is...
19. It arrived safely on Tuesday by the way - sorry, forgot to mention it. Thanks!
20. £50 seems a fair price but I dispute your claim that Richard Stilgoe has never gigged. I saw him play and sing the theme tune to Finders Keepers every week with his Casio keyboard. PM me when you're selling Suzie Dent.
21.
I had to smile as I too was going to give 'Come as you are' as an example. EH Small clone I believe and one of my favourite chorus pedals, very rich.
Close. It was an EHX PolyChorus. They still sell reissues of it, but it's pricey. Very versatile though.
22. Make sure you can hear yourself properly, then you won't pick so hard.
23.
I did once leap into the air whilst standing on my lead and unplug myself...
I was once in charge of operating a smoke machine with my foot, and it was plugged into the same outlet as my bass amp. You can probably imagine what's coming next: I produce a ton of smoke, step away from the smoke machine with my foot snagged on the mains cable and pull my amp's plug out of the wall. Would've been easier to plug it back in if I hadn't just filled the stage with smoke...
24.
Madness - good band, Mark Bedford's a very underrated bass player (the bass part in "Baggy Trousers" is a classic).
It's nothing compared to House of Fun. That line's totally bonkers.
25.
MB1. You just get back to eating your tea with that Ashdown 410!
I might pull the speakers out, stick some castors on it and use it as a hostess trolley.
