1. Ah that brings back memories. I had one of those when I was 18. Bloody hell that's a long time ago... Sounded enormous.
2. They look too '80s so I've never tried one. Even when they started putting headstocks on them they still looked too '80s.
3. Just get a Fender and hit it with a pick. Or anything with single coils and hit it with a pick. It'll sound the same.
4.
Music to paint Space Marines to.
Oh I wish I'd said that.
5. What's the difference between people who learned piano as a kid and can't play anything unless they've got the score infront of them, and people who learned guitar and can't play anything unless they've got a tab for it? Either way you're just reciting music, not making it.
6.
These guys leave trad minded pondlife in the dust, considering Stuart lost a ton of weight in the 90s 'Fat' Stu jokes are really really passe.... And look close,NO ryth player..thats the strength of The Hamm-ster.
He still thinks plinky-plonking through Moonlight Sonata on a bass sounds good, when it plainly doesn't, so he loses points in the taste department. Even more for that shirt in the video you linked. And let's be honest he still fairly porky in that one.
7.
ZOMG! - he's overweight! Even with a pie in each hand I'm betting he can still play better than you.
He's had more practice playing with a pie in each hand than I have. Anyway, while it's a clever party piece, it still sounds bad.
8. Can't believe he put his pie down for long enough to play that tbh.
9.
I remember a sign being put up saying No 'Love Games' or 'School Days' (The Stanley Classic)
In Scheerers in Leeds they used to have a blackboard with a huge list of songs on it, and if you played any of them while trying out a guitar they fined you 10p. Sort-of like a swear box.
10.
I am compiling a list of surefire dance floor fillers. Songs that are guaranteed to hit the spot every time.
Ugh.
11.
That's what I use too. No noise, does exactly what it says on the tin!
Your sig still makes me grin. I'm going to dig out Paul's Boutique today I think.
12.
Is it just me that reads 'reliced' as 'relissed'? Most Cs with a vowel after them are pronounced with an S sound. I/we need to start a campaign to have the spelling of this adverb changed to accomodate an exta K after the C - 'relicked'. Ah, I can read it properly now. yes I realise accomodate has a vowel after it but it also is a pair of Cs and you get nothing for a pair (not in this game)
I'd rather we just stop using the word "relic" as a verb. God missed the K off to show us that it wasn't a word that would naturally conjugate.
13. Hmm, I've got the Schroeder but no LMII. But the tax man wants all my money at the end of next week.
14. The more I hear about this X3 the less I like it. Nobody likes a smart arse.
15. I really, really, really want to hear this. GodLyke had one at NAMM but there's been no more info about it, no release date, no samples, nothing. Arseholes.
16. PMs replied. Still available.
17. I use one of these, it's cheap and very good.
18.
That's him f***ed for the intro to Sweet Child 'O Mine!!!
Maybe that was a conscious design decision.
19. It depends what you call "practice". I don't often (almost never!) sit down with a bass and aim for a particular improvement by the time I put it down. I used to do that when I was younger but not any more. I'm not that competitive now. These days when I pick up a bass it's for the fun of playing with music, or to work on tunes for my band. Both of which are the same thing, really.
20. Oh, if I ever did try a bass in a shop: I'd plug it through an analogue octaver so I could see how wide and how severe the dead spot was.
21. I haven't tried a bass in a shop for about 10 years. I haven't been in a shop that had basses I wanted to play.
22. Bloody hell I'm interested at that price and I don't even want it! Put the price up before anybody takes your hand off.
23. Yeah the price always put me off too. I traded my Pickle Pie 'B' + some pictures of the queen with GingerConor at TB who wasn't happy with his Mammoth. I play more beat-oriented stuff so I really wanted the gated sound, otherwise I would've stuck with the PPB which is a really great bass pedal. But like I said I've always been tempted by the Supercollider. Lovely little boxes, those.
24. It looks like a cucumber! That's a cool (pun not originally intended but I'm pleased with it) finish.
25. They look so cute together! I've always fancied one of these but I'm happy with my Mammoth for now. I'll let someone else have it.
