I've had an LS-2 on my board for about a year, it's really quite good at what it does. Haven't tried any of Radial's stuff, it all looks too expensive and their marketing pitch on their website smacks of trying too hard.

Bass playing as a chill out & stress relief..
thisnameistaken replied to silverfoxnik's topic in General Discussion
A long time ago when I was going through some weird mental issues and having panic attacks and stuff, picking up a bass made them go away. It depends what I'm doing though. Sometimes when I pick up a bass to do something creative with it and the juices just aren't flowing it's the most annoying thing in the world, but if I'm just picking it up to thrash through some tunes then yeah, that's always satisfying. -
have a laugh and have a go at everything!
As opposed to having a drink and having a go at everybody, which I can say with some authority doesn't work out so well.
I have a fear of playing a gig so dark that I can't see the fretboard.
The first time I gigged my newly de-fretted Jazz bass I found myself in pitch darkness on stage, and the next song on the setlist opened with just drums and bass. I could *just* make out the side dots on my bass, but it used to be fretted so they were all in the wrong places. Oh I had some great gigs back in the day.

Then the other amp in the picture - HH (possibly VS Bassamp) would be for bass?
I thought HH too. I had one yonks ago, til it blew up with a loud pop and a flash.
Oh NOOOO He's soloing..... That means we will have pages upon pages of shitheads slating him.
Not me. I like him. A lot. Sometimes I go into supermarkets just to listen to that sort of music. I started a petition to get JobFinder back on telly in the middle of the night, I used to tape it so I could blast it in my car. He's versatile too. He also does music in the "guitar shop" style.
lets face it,the 6 string Bass guitar IS the standard instrument for pros these days
Whuh? I can't remember the last time I saw anybody with a 6-string bass. It was probably early '90s though.

expanding my sound with the use of a phaser
thisnameistaken replied to unimpressed alf's topic in Effects
Phasers don't tend to work all that well in conjunction with filters. They just interfere with eachother. You might be better off looking at a tremolo or something instead. Or a flanger if it's colour rather than movement that you're after. -

Fender 1969 Jazz Bass For Sale-withdrawn
thisnameistaken replied to phsycoandy's topic in Basses For Sale
She's a beauty. Jazzes just don't look right unless they've got mop block inlays IMO. Shame you don't have the original hardware, or rather that it's an issue - after all everybody knows that stock Fender hardware is garbage but the collectors seem to like having it in a drawer somewhere while they're gigging a bass that actually works. -
I get forced to take odd approaches to some tunes in my current band because I'm sharing bandwidth with a trombonist. But I don't know if I often make the most of it to be honest, and usually I'm just a bit irked that I can't play a "normal" bass part. I think I'm getting old.
That's what I thought, the first time I tried to find a pic of Moon basses all I came up with was Larry Graham but this guy's tash swung it for me
That's Mike Watt from the Minutemen / fIREHOSE. It's weird seeing someone that scruffy with Larry Graham's pristine white bass.
How do you define better? Would The Beatles have been 'better' or sold more records if Macca has played a 12 string?
The Beatles actually split up because John wouldn't let Paul have his 11-string bass cover of the Super Mario theme as the opening track on Abbey Road. -
Sub contra master Yves Carbonne http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ILbAVo6FBKI
Wow, that sounds bloody awful. Sounds like someone trimming a privet hedge with a banjo. It's worth watching the video for the occasional moment where he tries to fret notes on the bass strings and realises he'd need to have been born with orang-utan hands. -
Once it gets to the UK it may sit in a depot whist they dictate, type and post a letter/ransome note to you telling you they have a parcel and you have to pay the VAT and stuff to get it
Yeah it's probably delayed at HMRC. It can take three or four weeks, maybe longer, for a parcel to get to your door from the USA.
I know that sounds harsh but i just cant get into religion, but i do appreciate what the church does for people
Like helping to spread AIDS in Africa and so on? I used to go to church regularly when I was 15/16 but only because I was shagging a Baptist minister's daughter.
Argh! My dream Jazz. Presume theres been some routing for those EMG's then? Rough price in mind? PM me if you'd rather.
FWIW I fitted an active EMG replacement set to a Jazz I had in the '90s and managed to squeeze the battery into the control cavity with no routing. I remember it well because for some reason I couldn't find a screwdriver that day so I used the tip of the blade on a new penknife to put the control plate back on, and of course the knife snapped shut on my index finger and I needed stitches.

I think it sounds pretty nice tbh. I could use a gated fuzz too. Hmm...
why did he leave?
I would've left the day after Toby Smith. Maybe he was just stoned or something, and so it took him a long time to realise Toby Smith had gone.
