1. Sunday bump.
2. I should really do that to my Stingray. My house is full of old wiring and dimmer switches and my 'ray fizzes whenever a light is on. Good work.
3.
I really like the Warwick two piece design execpt for one thing - the stringball holder. The open access is good, but the strings will often pop out whilst your're tightening the machineheads. Gets very annoying.....
Can't say it bothers me too much. I'm willing to put up with it for such a nice-looking bridge.
I think the real 'hero worship' of Badass products comes from those who find stock Fender bridges lightweight and a bit cheap and nasty. I'm in that group.
Me too. I had a US Jazz once where the E and A saddles would actually lose height while I was playing.
4. You could have a crack at Feliz Navidad. It worked out OK for Voodoo Glow Skulls. Or Fishbone's "It's a Wonderful Life"?
5. Hmmm....
6.
i wish id gone for the blowtorch now, i miss it!
The Blowtorch is totally last week, everybody's buying the BMS now. Get with the times.
7. There must be people who are cheaper than you here.
8. Bump! Someone needs these pedals, surely.
9.
+1... wasn't sure if it was just me, but although the playing was amazing, in that clip of The Who with Entwistle's bass track solo'd (someone posted the link a while back), IMO the bass sounded just terrible!
John Entwistle always sounded like sh*t to me too. And I've never seen a bass player more obsessed with over-complicated gear.
10. Blowtorch sold pending payment.
11. Added photos.
12. The main impression I'm getting from this thread so far is that some people aren't aware of how awesome the Bass Micro Synth is. Buy it from me. Seriously. I don't lie!
13.
You may hate Hucknall
Thanks, don't mind if I do.
14. A few bits and pieces need to go. EHX Bass Micro Synth + power supply - £115 shipped Older style "coal barge" stainless steel case, not the new XO model. A few surface scratches (unavoidable with these types of EHX cases really) but apart from that it's fine. Never been stomped on - I've always had it in a loop. With box, instruction sheet and power supply. Still my favourite pedal but pedalboard space issues mean I'm trading up to the new, smaller one. Boss CEB-3 Chorus - £35 shipped No box, no instructions, couple of little chips out of the paint on the top, otherwise v. good nick. *SOLD* MXR Bass Blowtorch - £75 shipped *SOLD* Smooth-sounding fuzz with very tweakable EQ section and wet/dry blend, strangely no hiss even at max. gain and treble. One battery cover missing, the other broken but seems to be holding together with velcro (the velcro broke it - velcro is stronger than plastic, lesson learned!). Will ship with a generic 18v PSU, original box, no instructions. *SOLD* Moen Two Loop Bypass Switch - £30 shipped *SOLD* Stomps and LEDs for loop A and loop B, plus master bypass stomp. *SOLD* EHX Q-Tron + power supply - £50 shipped *SOLD* With box + instructions, velcro'd bottom, lovely filter I just don't have room for it any more. As usual if anyone wants to collect these from me in York, thus avoiding shipping charges, knock a fiver off. I'll try to have quality biscuits in.
15.
Same here. I should have bought these.
I was sorely tempted too, just bad timing or I'd have had them.
16. I've been having another play with my Bass Micro Synth today. I've got a lot of synthy-noise-producing pedals (and another in the post) and I hadn't switched the BMS on for a while so I was trying to establish whether I was going to keep it or not. In short: Yes I am. It's so flexible and easy to tweak, there are a whole bunch of different and useful sounds in there. The lack of memory settings is a shame I'll concede, but once you're familiar with what the sliders do it's not too hard to find the sounds you want. The only downside is you can't switch between two sounds with your foot. But for me that's not a huge issue, given that I've got other pedals which have alternative synthy-noises ready to switch to.
17. I've never spent more than £700 on a bass, and I don't think I would. Ultimately I won't buy anything I won't gig, and I'd be nervous about gigging anything more expensive than that. The good thing is that most of the basses I'd want will show up on the used market for £700 or less anyway, so it's not much of a limitation.
18. Look up some Curtis Mayfield, Lonnie Liston Smith, Roy Ayers, Isaac Hayes, etc.
19. The old DOD FX-30 Gate/Loop has this feature, can't tell you how well it works because mine's on the fritz, sorry.
20.
I just can't get on with those dinky little bodies!
I wish more basses had those dinky little bodies. I've got a dinky little body - I'm 6'2" and about 11 stone - and a Fender looks like an XXL T-shirt on me. The Thumb bass, though, is perfect.
21. Yeah it's a good sound, that old sound. You didn't mention Graham Maby (Joe Jackson), he played some nice stuff.
22. I don't read bass guitar magazines so all I know about Jeff Berlin is what I've learnt from Youtube in the last few minutes. I've concluded that he plays cheesy music and he looks like Super Mario. Paul McCartney, on the other hand, I have heard of. He's that bloke who wrote some of the best pop songs ever. Yeah he wrote some throwaway tripe like 'Get Back' but I think it's offset by Eleanor Rigby, For No One, Hey Jude, Let It Be, Yesterday, etc. I know whose musical brain I'd rather pick, but for all I know they could both be proper twats.
23.
For such a tiny body, they really do weigh an absolute ton. Particularly the earlier ones.
Mine's heavier than my mate's Stingray 5. Considerably.
24. Forgot one of my favourites!
25. Quick snap of mine, then
