1. Not much room left for scotch eggs in those fridges. I mostly spent my week developing new price management tools for Avon. And explaining why their non-negotiable encryption requirements won't actually work. They still haven't accepted that they won't actually work, but it will come to them eventually.
2. Anth sold me a P-bass body, shipped it straight away, tracked post, all good. Thanks man.
3. I don't really care about hearing my bass but I must get a good level of my own vocal. I can usually hear the rest of the band just fine on stage I just want to hear my vocal properly. When I'm playing DB it's different I need to hear the bass in the mix too otherwise it's difficult to play confidently. Nine out of ten gigs on double bass I can't hear my bass at all...
4. That weight sounds about right to me, Thumb basses are surprisingly heavy for how small the bodies are; my Thumb 4 is heavier than my mate's Stingray 5...
5. I seem to recall I could play most other peoples' records when I'd been playing for three years. Being able to physically play 99% of pop songs isn't something that most people will struggle with. Maybe she can't do much other than that though. Still I doubt she cares, she's pretty and she gets free basses from Stuart Zender, so that's two things she's got over me already...
6. I get exactly the same thing, usually when changing strings. I put it down to me being rubbish and stopped bowing because it was upsetting the dog.
7. Yeah guts are like that. A week in they'll be more stable, but as Clarky said going from one climate to another really knocks them out and stages get pretty hot don't they.
8.
If money were truly no object, you could do both!
Yeah, well, yeah I suppose. I saw a thing the other day where Lewis Hamilton was saying when he goes to India it really upsets him to see all the child poverty and he's done a couple of appearances for UNICEF because he feels so strongly about it. But of course he's also amassed a huge personal fortune and then moved to a tax haven so he could keep all of it. I'm not sure hoarding money is the best way to get people out of poverty but what do I know. I feel bad enough spending a few hundred quid on a bass tbh.
9.
My opinion is that, in spite of them being excellent players, and tight as a unit, it's boring.
Maybe they've spent so much of their time learning to play really accurately, that as a consequence they've not really done anything worth writing a song about.
10. I'd probably stick with what I've got and use the unlimited money to end child poverty. Or I'd get a Fodera, like a bell end.
11. I was reading this on my phone last night but yeah looking at the first photo your bridge does either look a bit bent or not very well cut. Hopefully it won't be structurally unsound (if you've been playing it 6 months then it's probably trustworthy) but you might want to think about having a luthier replace it for you at some point.
12. That's normal. What I do (and I'm sure some people would warn that this can damage strings but I've never had an issue) is to take a book and use it to give the bridge a tap close to where the strings pass over it, just to nudge it back vertical again. Keep an eye on it as you tune up to pitch because it will probably continue to move. Also it's a good idea to take a soft pencil and rub it in the grooves on both the bridge and the nut before fitting a new string to lubricate it a bit. You get less of this behaviour if you do that.
13. It'll be popular in Japan.
14. I think this is the best bass Muff on the market. Great pedal.
15. Make your own with Lava / George L? If you want compact and easy, can't beat solderless kits. They're also great if you tend to change pedals regularly, you can make up new cables in no time.
16. Sorry for the double post, can't delete the duplicate on my mobile. :-(
17. I've got one of these and can't imagine why anyone would need two! Great cab, and super portable, easy one-handed lift.

19. Still skint, still want a '74 Jazz. On the positive side, a Mk1 Focus went past me today making the same alarming screeching noise that mine makes, so that's one thing I don't feel needs fixing quite so urgently!
20. This would be a YOB bass for me, but I'm currently holding out for my pet insurance to cough up for the £1000 of vets bills I've paid in the last week. My beloved RSPCA-graduate boxer seems to have a genetic heart disorder.
21. Hey Clarky is the finish original? It's in great looking nick.
22. She's a bit special, and the drummer is great, but I struggle to be entertained by this sort of music any more. It's all very slick, but it's missing something. It's not art.
23. I don't normally like gold hardware but that is a lush bass. :-)
24. I don't mean to sound patronising but are you sure you're not aiming for more of an electric bass sound? Bottom end and sustain aren't what I'd call prominent characteristics of the upright. Well, you'll get some bass from the lower octave, but it will decay quite quickly.
25. I really want a 1025x.
