i f***ing love that tone - such a dirty valve growl, got to love it. He's all over it class act indeed

I’ve heard these are temperamental as f***, but sound good. I went down to HotRox in Notts last year to try one out and he had 3 in the shop that had been returned by customers that week and were waiting to be sent back to MXR. Apparently MXR were trying to say that it was a dodgy batch, but he just told me that they were really cheaply produced…

Pete bought my compressor (I thought I’d never get rid of the f***ing thing…) and was a pleasure to deal with. Instant payment by PayPal, and he didn’t moan about me missing the post and delaying the arrival of it by a day All in all, top bloke to deal with - I wouldn’t hesitate to buy or sell with Pete again. Cheers mate, and get that mod on it…

Lovely heads these are. What’s your story mate? How come you’re selling it? I think you should post pics of it regardless of anyone declaring an interest – posting pics will generate interest. Also, if I were you I’d get the gain knob replaced; it may not affect the performance of the amp at all, but it may affect a potential sale. Good luck with it anyway

"Or Maybe Later" is my fave...funky as f*** and I love the synths. Really great bass sound as well man, can't wait to hear it with vocals...

Is your bass collection worth more than your car?
Dubs replied to birdy's topic in General Discussion
Well I've put off buying a car in order to be able to afford a few nice basses Realistically, I'm not going to throw £3k into a heavily depreciating asset that's going to cost me the average GDP of a small African country to legally run for a year when I could put the money into something I'd get more out of (and appreciate a lot more) and be able to cash in on (and get most of my cash back) if times get tough. That’s how I justify it anyway -
I’d always recommend a 2nd hand Mbox mini for that sort of price. Amazing value for money when you consider that it comes with ProTools (it’s soon to start shipping with version 8 but you’re obviously dependent on what’s available if you’re buying 2nd hand, but ProTools 7 was good – try and get 7.4 if you can). A lot depends on what you need it for though…

Bass Player looking for function/covers band (POMPEY/hants area)
Dubs replied to Dubs's topic in Musicians Wanted
Still looking. Will be making the move back to Pompey around the 15th/16th of November, so want something sorted out asap... -
Aaaahhhaaa it was a 5 string version of that...... Kinda purdey aint it!
£760 is steep. You can get the 4 string version brand spanking for £500 ( http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=6408 ), and the 5 string for £100 more ( http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=5887 ). I was thinking about getting a 4 string version but I'd want to be able to try it somewhere before I bought one new and I can't find anywhere local to me that has one for me to try out.
Once your hearing gets damaged every loud noise will gradually cause more damage; police sirens, smoke alarms...
Yeah they all hurt. I was waiting to see someone on the NHS about it for about 3 month, but that was about 2 years ago and I had forgot that I was on a waiting list to see someone, oh well. Bottom line is that I should do something about it now I reckon, or I'll be 50% deaf when I'm 30
Meh... sisters are a pain in the ass
I think he means that this will be punchy as f***, hence your comment about this not being punchy enough was tongue in cheek? You can't have got bored of the luscious Trace V4 already? Lovely bit of valve action this.

Not effect, but effects related - The pedalboard that I was struggling to sell on here for £70 posted sold for £87 posted (you can buy them new for £92 posted) on ebay a couple of weeks ago...I probably made £75 after shipping it and ebay/paypal fees which is about a tenner more than I would have made on here. I wasn't expecting it to sell for that much though. I would have been happy with the £75.
Best £160 I've ever spent, no question.
wow, rave review. My hearing is f***ed, but I might have to investigate this and guilt trip The Bank of Mum and Dad into getting some made. I reckon it would cost thousands of pounds to get my hearing sorted anyway - I'm 23 and can hear about as well as a 70 year old sound man who's spent his career with his head in bass bins

that looks great Real pro job, nicely done.

good poster. I use allposters quite a lot. They always do 20% off deals and stuff.
Fender, on the other hand, have cornered the market in "Indie Cool".
+1, but I don’t mean that in a bad or derogative kind of way because I love Fenders and I love to think that I’m Johnny Greenwood when I’m rocking the sh*t out of my Telecaster I’ve also been looking at buying a nice Jazz for ages…but if we’re talking about the look of the instrument suiting the genre, then I can’t work out why Warwicks are popular in Metal. I think there is a case of people buying what their idols use and that has kind of exaggerated the use of Warwicks in the Metal genre, who knows? For me though, I find the look of Warwicks to be far too passive for the whole “Metal” image. In my head they suit Funk and R’n’B and a lot of Rock stuff, but I struggle to make it make aesthetical sense (Streamers specifically) for Metal. Thumbs can pull it off a lot better though. The Vampyre, Stryker, and Buzzard basses are more 'Metal', but they're too ‘comic book’ for the price tag IMO. I think Josh summed up the Warwick and Metal thing, being that it’s mostly down to cutting through the mix as well as the classic Warwick tone being great for the genre.
I found this with a quick Google. Can't speak for it's authenticity, but it'd be worth a shot!
I would prefer item was picked up, but can send by courier
huh? He would prefer them to be picked up because they are too large to post easily? He can send them by courier because a small envelope with a first class stamp on isn't enough? I don't really understand any of his description or why he wants them collecting, let alone what the item actually is
That's correct you did. However you musnt have my follow up email offering you £200 .... didnt hear anything from you after that. One of us must have an oversensitive spam filter. ...Ah well, good luck with the sale anyway.
My spam filter is non-existent. I know all the best places to buy Viagra and get a penis “enlargement”, but I’ve been thinking about getting a reduction anyway… £200 for a graphite Status Stingray neck is a great price If only I didn't sell the 'ray...

quite a result mate, that bass looks like a gooden and amazing for the money

The "Jazz 24" ( http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0264500552 ) basses are made in Korea. Apparently they're great, although having never played one, I can’t comment from personal experience.

Basically I need to find out what pin(s) relate to the MUTE function on the footswitch connection on the back of the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 heads. I need to find this out so I can get Red Onion to build me a mute switch. TJ from Red Onion doesn’t know what pins relate to what functions and we’ve both looked into it and not found the info we need, but this isn’t really surprising as I’m sure Genz Benz are not going to publish this info as they want people to buy their “Official” footswitch. I had the official Genz Benz footswitch but I didn’t want the shaping options and it was also too big to get in the bag (f***ing useless American design…don’t get me started). Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance …
