I was enjoying the youtube clip until Marcus’ solo – to me it just shows he’s a one trick pony and we’ve all heard it before…boring. I’d love to catch one of their European legs though, but I don’t think my girlfriend would be happy to trade off a beach holiday in the sun for a rushed weekend in Slovakia where my focus is gonna be completely on the music Does anyone know why they’re not coming to the UK? I’m just thinking that it must have been a conscious decision, so there must be a specific reason they’re not coming.
but to say its an ernie ball bass is against ebay policy, it is an ernie ball licensed bass, the bass was not made by ernie ball. i dont see why anyone would choose an olp to try n con someone...
Well if it is what you’re suggesting – that he’s trying to con someone into thinking they’re buying an original EBMM Stingray5, then he’s either new to the conning game or completely sh*t at it, because why the hell would he put a pic of the OLP headstock? – it’s too obvious.
why on earth is anyone going to fall for that! if your gunna try n con someone you dont photograph the bloody headstock
I don’t think the issue is with anyone thinking it’s an original EBMM Stingray given the fact it’s an OLP, but more that the seller was adamant that warwickhunt couldn’t come and view it before buying even though he only lives 10 miles down the road from it – does the bass even exist? I think it just gives the impression that the seller doesn’t have any intention to send the bass out to anyone. Technically I reckon he could get away with advertising it as an “Ernie Ball” because OLP is officially licensed by EB to make copies, and he hasn’t said “This is an original Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray”, but just “Ernie Ball Bass 5 String Guitar With Natural Wood Finish”, and then he’s posted the OLP headstock.

My new ultra light rig – Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 and Epifani UL310, and my currently ‘most in favour’ bass – 2000 SSI. Just got the Genz Benz through this morning and so far I’m very happy with it I’ve managed to dial in loads of different tones including a very rich and warm valveish tone, and it’s unbelievably small and lightweight – so much power and tone for the size. The only negative thing I could possibly say about it is the build quality; I know it’s “Made In Taiwan” but it feels a bit cheap to me for the price tag…maybe it’s just me, what do you other Shuttle 6.0 owners think? I may be being a bit fussy given the sound it produces, but the cheap feel of it was my first impression, however, there is nothing cheap about the noise it makes I acquired the UL310 last weekend and my first impressions were just total amazement at how light it was for a 750W 3x10. Again, it packs so much tone and power and sounds absolutely huge for its size. I can lift my whole rig + my pedalboard by myself in 1 go I can’t wait to gig this setup and give it some proper stick, then I’ll be able to comment a bit more about if the trade off from an Ampeg all valve SVT rig to this super light Genz Benz and Epifani has been worth it…I’m sure it has though

Surely has to be reported? What was their full response? Any specific reason for this (other than that their warehouse is imaginary)?
the pod xt live is sh*te for effects imo, its mainly an amp modeller
never used it then? the synth sounds are complete dog sh*t, but there's some great overdrives, distortions, and fuzz effects on it, as well as phasers and flangers and chorus effects, plus more. I challenge you to a fuzz off...
That was probably Steve Lawson, Michael Manring and John Lester - I went to a London performance on that tour. Wulf
Yeah, John Lester definitely rings a bell
The songs that really impressed me were the ones where he used his bass with the hip-shots on every string at the headstock as well as down at the bridge – that was very impressive. Great player.
Just like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY4Ra2KOyas...feature=related

I saw Michael Manring play at a tiny venue in Southampton (that place we do not talk about in Portsmouth) called the Joiners. He was on a tour with Steve Lawson and this American double bass playing singer/songwriter that was really really good, but I’ve forgotten his name. Great night, about 5 years ago. Spoke to him after the gig, but I didn’t really say much. The songs that really impressed me were the ones where he used his bass with the hip-shots on every string at the headstock as well as down at the bridge – that was very impressive. Great player.
Is it also that the Thumb has 26 frets as opposed to some of the other models? (I'm not sure if that's true - but I seem to remember hearing that somewhere).
only the NT has 26 frets, the BO has a more 'standard' 24
-
Yeah if it’s gonna be 3rd in line then it’s probably not too much of a problem, but I still don’t quite understand exactly what the issue is. Does it hang too far forward or backwards?
-
I've had a thumb BO for ages now and i cant remember ever having an issue with it, or even a period of getting used to it. It just kind of felt right from the first time i played it. How high/low do you have it?

uncomfortable in what way? It's a bit heavy, but that's nothing new with Warwicks...
Vunjos (?) guitar on Denmark street has three early mid -70s p-basses (two naturlal, one black, all in reasonable nick but not stunners)...asking price £1,600 and upwards. Silly money if you ask me but they woudn't be asking for it if they couldn't get it somehow..... Nice bass - good luck selling it!
2nd hand prices are occasionally hugely inflated down Denmark St due to the London factor, as well as the fact it’s in a shop and that they’re gonna try their luck to see if they can find a rich buyer who doesn’t really understand what they’re buying as well as current market trends. ‘Denmark Street Guitars’ have been trying to sell a Trace Elliot V4 combo for £1800 for the last year or so, and fundamentally it’s 2nd hand. To put that price in perspective, there’s one selling for £1k on there at the moment that looks to be in really good condition, but some people are saying that it’s still overpriced at £1k, let alone £1800. This bass looks to be in fantastic condition though, so it should achieve a price towards to top end of the current market value, but I don’t really know what that would be at the moment.

that is one cheap and fugly looking bass! on the plus side, it shouldn't go for a lot if anyone was interested in it.
sounds a bit paranoid to me. OK, i'd like to state for the record that my 73P has been nicked. Serial no 412347. Even if I managed to knock up a photo of me with an identical bass I doubt very much that plod would just recover it for me... or would they??? :brow:
The theory is sound, but unless you could categorically prove it was yours, then surely it’s Person #1’s word against Person #2’s. The police wouldn’t really be able to do anything, and the likelihood of the matter is that the rightful owner is likely to have many pictures of them playing the bass at gigs (possibly able to prove dates of ownership by this?) as well as general pics of the bass over a period of time? Possibly original receipts? I agree with the good Dr. that I’d prefer people to know the serials of my gear so that in the event of some of it getting nicked there is a better chance that someone will spot it. This is probably completely missing the point of why people don’t post their serial numbers, but maybe this is a good idea for a security thread? People could post their serial numbers with pictures of their basses/gear so that in the event of it getting nicked there is a dated record and picture of the serial number which could possibly prove ownership and make others aware of what their stolen gear looks like so people might be able to spot it and possibly retrieve it? I dunno, just an idea, maybe a sh*t one.

As soon as I start to move about with anything more than a vigorous walk I can forget about playing the right thing cos it all goes to sh*t I’d love to work out how I can dance about a bit more and play the right thing (how the f*** does Flea do what he does?!), but it compromises my playing so much.
