The thing about multi effects vs individuals is that it’s not really comparing like for like. A good multi effects pedal could set you back between £300 and £350 maybe, whereas a full pedalboard could set you back well over £1k, and that could easily be spent on only 5 or 6 pedals. Multi effect pedals have a lot of convenience factor in them, but a pedalboard made up of good individual pedals is fully customisable and each individual effect is likely to be of a very good quality if you’re willing to spend the money, but you could easily end up spending 4 times the amount of a multi effects pedal on building up a pedalboard made up of good quality individuals. In my experience, it might be worth adding a couple of really good quality individual pedals to your ME50 that give you a very specific sound that you’re looking for. Maybe think about what the ME50 doesn’t do that you would like it to do, and then think about adding a specific pedal that will give you the extra sounds that you’re looking for. If it’s only synth sounds that you’re missing then add an Akai Deep Impact inline with your ME50, and bingo, you’ve got everything you’re looking for. What is the ME50 lacking that you need?
Mesa also did an all tube 200w 'Bass Buster' wedge shaped 2x10 combo, there is one @ The Gallery I think. Might as well smash your back up first though!!
Good call. 99ster has one that he might be looking to sell (might be worth a PM) – come to think of it, there’s a chance it might be the one in The Gallery?

Well I've just bought a UL310 to go with my soon to be arriving Shuttle 6.0. I can let you know what I think when it arrives (hopefully within the next couple of days). PS – Don’t worry about not replying about the cab
This bidding malarkey makes it seem do you just want the highest price available and want to pit people off against each other in order to get as much as you can.
Yeah I agree. Isn’t this meant to be a forum community? Bidding wars are for ebay. The ‘auction’ for the charity stuff that we had on here recently is a completely different kettle of fish compared to an auction style of selling your gear to get the highest price on the forum.
Joking aside, have you looked at the new Trace combos. With your budget you could easily afford one. Not heard any reviews good or bad about them, but I know they offer a lot of power for a relatively small size.
I played a gig with someone who had one of the new 2x10 Trace combos. It sounded great and looked really cool, with looks obviously being the most important factor in buying any new gear

That’s a lot of dolla for a combo, but there are quite a few around at that price. You could get a very nice used rig for that. Are you wanting only new or is it a size/weight thing?

I think Trace Elliot did a 2x10 1x15 single cab as well. Don’t know if it was any good though.
The problem is that even if i put the gain to maximum i still don't get the drive i want - it just changes the sound: i get more punch If i put the gain to max. should i get drive even if i don't turn the master very loud?
A lot of valve amps sound better when they’re cranked a bit (the master volume is up at gigging level), but turning up the pre gain actually overdrives the pre valves so your whole sound is slightly overdriven/gritty, which some people really like. In most circumstances, cranking up the ‘Gain’ to overdrive the pre amp valves gives a nice* warm and slightly overdriven valve sound. That overdriven sound should be there at all master volume levels, but as I said before, a lot of valve amps sound better when they’re running at higher levels. If you’re not getting enough of an overdriven sound by cranking the gain, or it’s not the sound you’re after, then that ZVex pedal looks like it could be worth a go.I’ve got no experience with anything like that so I couldn’t say for sure what it does to the sound, but just from reading the stuff on the site, it looks like it could do what I think you might be looking for. *It’s down to personal preference. I like a very slightly overdriven pre valve sound, some people like it totally clean.

I don’t think there’s any new basses you can buy now that you can guarantee will go up in value in the future, except for old vintage stuff like pre CBS Fenders etc…(already mentioned). There’s a risk in everything, but I think buying limited editions and rarer newish basses/guitars would limit this risk. I think a good recent example of this would be the Gibson Les Paul Robot; they did a limited first run of 500 blue ones. If the ‘Robot’ takes off and sells loads and becomes popular then you can almost guarantee that those 500 originals are going be worth a bucket load in 20, 30, 40 years time. Those first 500 might be worth a lot in a future anyway due to the rarity factor even if the Robot system doesn’t take off. A good friend of mines dad is a guitar collector. He buys lots of vintage Fenders but he’s also bought a couple of the top spec 40th and 50th anniversary Strats which he’s pretty much kept in the cases and stored them away. I don’t necessarily agree with buying instruments purely as an investment and making sure they never see the light of day so they retain maximum resale value, but that would be the way to do it, but be prepared to wait a long time for the investment to mature on newer guitars – bit of an obvious one that. In all honesty I don’t have a clue what might be worth a lot in the future. I like to buy expensive instruments (£600 +) knowing that if push came to shove and I had to sell one for cash that I’d be able to get the vast majority of money back on it (if not all or more) taking into consideration the condition it’s in when I bought it and the condition it’s in when I come to sell it. The same applies to expensive gear such as amps and effects etc…
Crank the gain all the way up
+ the 1 isn't that what you're meant to do with valve amps? - overdrive the pre valves to give a nice warm valve growl. That's what i used to do with my Ampeg anyway, and it sounded proper bo' I tell thee.

Amazing deal that, you lucky bastard . I would have had it if I had the spare cash. The thing is, I've got a big job interview next Friday and if I get it then I'll get a £1k golden handshake...that would have bought the SSII, oh well, it will have to go on something else like a boring but practical car

Ok I’ve just noticed something – It only happens for me if I search “Todays Active Topics”, but when I go into a specific sub-forum the topics are marked appropriately as read or unread – so I think it might only be happening for me when I use the active topics search feature on the home page, can’t say for sure though because this is the first time I’ve noticed it.

it's happened to me 3 or 4 times today. I'm not gonna bother to say when it happens again cos it's happening all the time.
Second, my Lemmy-alike 1986 Rick 4001 MG/BT which has high-output Bartolini pickups and a Pickguardian treble pickup surround
“I don’t like Ricks” is generally the party line…but if ever there was one to turn me it would be a natural with black hardware just like yours, possibly a 4003 though. Very nice indeed
