1. It looks like a cartoon monster has taken a huge bite out of the back of it
2.
ooooooooooooooooh yes! Can we? Can we? Please!!! please???? Come on.... can we?
Massive arguments on the horizon RE: P and J
3. Use Bootsy as style inspiration…ultimate pimpage
4.
MB1. Good job your names not Mark Ashdown then innit?
Ay, that it is
5. Henry The 8x8 - I love the comical SWR cab names - I almost bought the 1x18 Big Ben once because of the name, then realised I didn't actually want a 1x18. The fickle youth of today...
6. After yesterdays Bowie marathon I need a bit of dirt = Refused – The Shape of Punk To Come :brow:
7.
...only problem is it weighs 58lbs!
Featherweight in comparison to the 80lb SVT-CL I’ve just sold, and add at least another 20lbs for the flightcase!
8. If you’re gonna take it to a shop anyway then have a little fiddle around with it and see if you manage to do anything constructive…you’re not gonna break it The hands-on approach is the only way you’re going to learn these things. Nice looking bass though man. I love the deep trans-red and black hardware – great look.
9. I’m discovering David Bowie for the first time. Last night I told my housemate that I didn’t like him, this morning I’m working my way through his whole back catalogue…I think it’s going to take the rest of the week to get through. I’m cheating at the moment though – “Best of David Bowie 1969-1974”. So far I’m really pissed off with myself that I’ve never given him much time. EDIT: update - wasn't too impressed with some of the 'funky' 1974-79 era except a few of the big hits, but enjoying most of the 1980-87 stuff...
10. bump for Red Hot Chili Peppers - Off The Map. The best live DVD I've ever watched/owned...great stuff.
11. i didnt think they were ANYTHING special, and if anything i would have said they were very average – They didn’t seem to have anything original (look/sound/etc) and seemed to be quite passive performers. I think it was definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time, and Peter Jones knowing the publicity that the show will give them and seeing “£” signs in his eyes with the “30% of everything” deal. Fair play to the bass playing lead singer though, you don't see many of those at the moment
12. Give a headless a go if you’ve never played one – they’re not to everyone’s tastes and it would be sh*t to drop £1k+ on a headless Status and not like it. I played a headless a few years ago and I just couldn’t get on with it. The way it felt was so weird and I found that subconsciously I always felt that I was lower down the fret board than I actually was because there was no headstock, so I always felt out of position (if that makes any sense…it does in my head anyway )
13.
what's the general opinion of the spider pedalboard cases? good value or not?
I've got a brand new Spider XL Pedalboard flightcase if you're interested? just PM me.
14. radio 1...it's all sh*t though they should put Zane Lowe on 24/7…just 38 mins till he’s on
15. I've been eyeing up a nice Sunburst SX Jazz for a bit...don't think I'll put my money where my mouth is for a while though. Major major MAJOR GAS this week/month has been for a Shuttle 6.0...one will be mine shortly
16. There's a few free software drum machines around - i'd say use one of those if you're just gonna be jamming along with it for a laugh and nothing serious. It's not worth buying an Akai for just domestic tinkering.
17. cheers for the help guys - I might have sorted out a deal on a 2nd hand UL310 fingers crossed it works out
18.
...night out with your sister?
...sold! just joking
19. Are there some serious reliability issues with these then?
20.
Why not return it under the Distance Selling Act?
+1 That’s what I did when I bought a 37” TV and I didn’t realise how bloody big it was (what an idiot!)
21. I’ve done a bit of google-ing and I can’t find anywhere that sells Epifani cabs in the UK. I took a look at the list of international dealers on the Epifani websh*te and there’s no one listed as a UK dealer?!?! Where the hell are you guys buying your Epifani cabs from?! (I’m guessing a couple of London shops must stock them?) OR…to save me some hassle, does anyone have a UL310 they would like to sell me or trade for an SVT-410HLF?
22. QUOTE (obbm @ Apr 8 2008, 12:31 PM) I've been approached by a member to supply some long mains leads. I can get some 6-metre moulded leads but like all things the more you buy the better the price and the lower the postage. Anyone interested in any at £5-each plus postage from me to you? maybe I'm a bit late with this...but I'd have one off you I'm always having issues with short Euro leads when I'm setting up at a gig.
