Looking at the circuit board there's the work 'bruecke' at the top between the capacitor and the larger chip. This is German for 'bridge' (which is what the piece of wire it's next to is) so I would guess the unit is of German manufacture.
Good spot Mr Holmes EDIT: I don’t know much about the innards of basses but with my ignorant knowledge I would guess that it makes sense for it to be a German manufacturer if it’s an early SSI? Warwick = German…most of the parts = German? I’m probably way off it with this as I’ve got a feeling that a lot of the early Warwicks were fitted with Barts, but i don’t even know if this is a fact or a figment of my imagination - what am i saying???? I'm digging myself into a pit of ignorance – I’m not going to be able to tell you anything new that you don’t already know
i ve found a good second hand ampeg now so i'm just going to cut my losses and go with that. lesson learned though for the future!
£600 though?! Maybe £600 means more to me at the moment than it does to you, but if I were you then I’d literally be doing everything I could to get my amp or cash back. I’d be f***ing fuming man. If you’ve taken it as far as you reasonably can then I’d be tempted to sh*t in box and send it to the return address of the letter that you received just for a laugh It’d make me feel a bit more even in my very immature 23 year old mind I am one to hold a grudge though when large corporate companies f*** around with my money, like Virgin Media for example.
is it cos they are british owned,as we tend not to back our own manufactures or what is it.
I think a lot of the old Trace Elliot gear is fantastic, and they were British owned and “Built In England”. My first ‘proper’ amp was a 300W 2x10 Trace combo and I loved it and was really reluctant to move it on despite upgrading to an Ampeg SVT-CL and SVT410-HLF. Sincerely though, good luck with the Ashdown stuff mate, I’m not one that feels an unnecessary or superfluous amount of brand loyalty (except when it comes down to Warwick ), so the fact that I use Ampeg doesn’t really change my views on Ashdown, which by the way I’m always happy to have changed
I'll let e knaa when I'm next down Pompey Ben, come and have a listen...
deffo, i spend more of my time in Derby these days though but gimme a shout if you ever play Derby or Pompey and I'll come down to have an Ashdown enlightenment
Ashdown get a lot of bashing which IMO and IME is not really justified.
Both in my experience and opinion the Ashdown sound is quite Woolly and undefined and has lacked any real grunt or punch. It’s all personal opinion and preference though – I love my Ampeg rig and thinks it kicks Ashdown ass, but that’s just my opinion. I’d have a tendency to agree very much with Andy that it tends to be the Ashdown cabs that cause the problems (to my ears and in my opinion) so the Schroeder and BFM cabs would be a great place to start if you were to buy a cab to compliment your Evo II. In all honesty, I’ve never heard an Ashdown rig that I liked the sound of, but then again I’ve not heard a decent Ashdown head through a really nice (non Ashdown) cab (like Andy’s setup) so I’m always open to having my views changed and I’m always happy to eat my words when I’m proven wrong As for “bye bye Ampeg”…don’t be so hasty – I could understand if you were upgrading or changing the Ampeg gear for lighter stuff, but Ashdown instead of Ampeg based on 1 successful gig? What Ampeg gear have you got already that you’re going to change for Ashdown gear?
I got a huge letter from them today detailing whats going to happen, somethin along the lines of "blah blah you're an unsecured creditor blah blah blah getting nothing blah blah suck on that etc etc" rather informing. Theres £600 i'll never see again, i guess its the street corner for me!
very unlucky man, is there nothing else you can do, no one (legal) you can take it to? Have a word with citizens advice and see what they have to say about it. I'd be fuming and on the war path

I blew up a Fender Rumble 100 about a week ago – it was in the practise room at Uni that we use. It just didn’t have the power to properly cut through at practise so I had it completely cranked then something started to smell like voice coil glue, I looked over and there was smoke bellowing out of the driver and port  I quickly turned it off and ran outside with it cos it was still smoking and I didn’t know if it was going to set itself on fire (I set a JBL subwoofer on fire once when I was testing an enclosure that I’d built) but luckily it didn’t. After about an hour I turned it on again and the driver was completely shot! 100% dead, do not pass go, do not collect £200, RIP. In all honesty it was completely my fault, but using this as an example I would say that the driver doesn’t have much tolerance when it comes to a little bit of abuse. I’ve never used the SWR but I think it looks pretty cool – probably a really bad reason to buy an amp. For what it’s worth, the Fender sounded pretty good until I blew it up

You’re so generous with the “10”s. I’m so reluctant to give anything a 10 because once you do that you cant go any higher so it’s like you’ve reached absolute and complete perfection that cannot be improved on...at all, no possible improvement can be made because it’s an impossibility that something can succeed top marks and complete perfection ….do you see what I’m getting at.

Spider XL Pedalboard Flight Case
Dubs replied to Dubs's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Here’s a pic with some pedals to give a reference to the size of it as I don’t think you can really gauge how big it is from the pic on the website: You can easily fit 3 Boss style pedals from top to bottom and a conservative 7 from left to right (and that’s not even really squishing them together like I’ve seen a few of you guys do with your boards. BTW – The Derby “Express” is a little bit bigger than The Sun – again I put this in the picture just for reference. -
I’m selling my brand new and completely mint Spider XL Pdealboard Flight Case - http://www.spider-engineering.co.uk/script...e+XLarge%5F3879 – one of those I just foolishly thought “bigger is better” (as my girlfriend often tells me :brow:) and went for the largest case that I could reasonably afford, and low and behold…it’s a f***ing monster and big enough to house a small African community. It cost me £90 and I’m obviously hoping to get back as much of this as possible but I think I can reasonably expect the vast majority of it back but I do expect to incur some loss. I’m not going to “name my price” so I’m open to offers – highest bidder wins I’d really like to do a part exchange deal with someone for a much smaller pedalboard that’s of a similar style as I do still need one because I’ve figured out what I actually need it for now (about 4 or 5 separate pedals to be set up in a case ready to be placed next to my Line 6 Pod XT Live). I think I’ve gradually realised that I’m not one for loads and loads of effects, I’d much rather have a select few that get used lots and sound amazing, so I don’t think I’d ever fill this huge beast up. Hindsight is a beautiful thing, but a complete bitch. Show me what you’ve got in terms of P/X and make me an offer I can’t refuse…go on, you know you want to cheers big ears
