Warwick Thumb for sale - Back up for sale due to non-payer
Dubs replied to madzombieguy's topic in Basses For Sale
try doin a forensics degree, only thing slack is your trousers around your waist from the weight uv lost due to stress
That sounds like a heavy subject, (and I’m guessing it’s what you’re doing) so good luck with it. My better half is doing a post-grad in counselling and something else (I don’t really pay too much attention). I’m planning on being a man (muso) of leisure when in 10 years time she’s got her own practise and is raking in 200k -
looks like the PC police have been in
Damn, they must have sneaked in on a covert operation with the intent to confuse everyone. I was only trying to have a laugh? No offence or rant of any kind intended, technically I’m not a student anymore so I don’t really feel too obliged to stand up for undergraduate slackers any longer -
But when we get round to recording, the fan noise maybe an issue?...
Nah it should be fine – you’re not going to be micing the fan If you close mic one of the drivers of the cab you’re using for recording then you won’t hear the head at all – you could even put the head in a different room if you felt like it and had a long enough lead, and if you’re just using the DI then there is obviously no way you’re going to hear the fan. My issue with the fan in my Ampeg head is that it’s mega noisy when I’m using it for ‘quiet’ playing in the house.
And I am totally fed up with hearing how hard up students are. There is a thing that happens in between the time you go on Basschat and go to sleep and it's called work, try it one day.
That’s a nice bit of generalisation there – not all students are slackers -
I don't regret selling anything I do however have purchases I regret making.
+1 I’m a bit of a hoarder unless cash is ultra tight or it’s something that won’t be too badly missed and is taking up space (cabs etc). Sometime’s I buy stuff on impulse and regret it shortly after, eg – I recently bought a Spider XXL pedal board flight case and it’s massive, so big it’s almost embarrassing and much bigger than I actually need. I’m really not wanting to sell it though unless I can get back 95% of what I paid for it (which realistically I don’t think will happen).
My 1961 Strat. Sold it around around 1980 for £125. Not one of my best decisions.
I Probably Paid Over The Odds But....

you can't beat the look if that birdseye maple neck - stunning. Don't worry about how much you paid for it, the quality of the bass will make up for it and seen as value is only what someone is willing to pay then you obviously feel that £800 is reasonable...so I wouldn't worry about it. -
If you can find out the voltage for the fans and if it's no more than 12v you should be able to replace them with "silent" (low noise) PC fans.
yeah this is what i was planning on doing with my Ampeg. I've been advised to look at airflow and stuff though - make sure it's a suitable replacement.

ah…it’s such an individual thing. I love Ampeg so I’d recommend a beefy Ampeg set-up. I reckon you’re going to get 20+ different recommendations so if you’ve only got a week to sort it out then the best thing to do would be to go to a large music shop that have a good range of good bass amps in stock and try them out and buy what you reckon is going to suit your needs most and that sounds best to your ears – there are issues with auditioning amps in shops though. Other than that it could take you months/years to find the perfect rig so if you’re in a rush then settle for the best you can get your hands on in short notice: Ampeg Mark Bass Gallien-Krueger Trace Elliot EBS Genz Benz Mesa …there are ones I’ve missed but if you stick to quality manufactures you can’t really go too wrong. It’s a really subjective issue though so only you can judge for yourself. Personally I use an Ampeg SVT-CL and SVT410-HLF and I think it's the mut's nuts but others will strongly disagree

If people respect the current format then there shouldn’t be a problem with it. A pinned set of guidelines similar to Jake’s could be of a great benefit to new members/sellers but ultimately I think it’s the mod’s who need to first identify where the perceived problems with sales threads lie, and then decide if/what guidelines need to be set to tackle them. In my opinion (I’ve gone off using abbreviations such as ‘IMO’ ), any published guidelines should also include some reference to etiquette – such as publically slating someone’s sale thread for a number of reasons – “your price is ridiculous” or “that is a complete piece of sh*t and I cant see why anyone would want to buy it” sort of statements (not that I think there have been many of these but I know it’s an issue which has risen in the past). Generally I think guidelines would be for new members, the older ones should know better than to post a rubbish sale thread or try and sabotage someone else’s. I am surprised that no general guidelines have been published though.

Sennheiser e865. A fair bit of cash but well worth it, they beat the sh*t out of the 58 and 57 (although it costs twice as much  )

Looks like an interesting tool and I can imagine it giving you more power and possibly a slightly metallic twang? I'd probably give it a go if I could buy one locally. On a related note...have you seen the "Gerald Reese Signature Bass" on that site? It should make it into the 'Weird and Wonderful' thread I reckon, very interesting looking bass.
