Or the reverse!
Yeah it’s a worse sin to be crap but a poser with some properly nice gear. Makes me think of a few people from college and uni, let alone any pro players…

they've got to be chicken oriental, what a muppet "This is of great sentimental value" - is that an excuse for the £2300 BIN price?
BBC - for that money you could get yourself a nice Warwick Rckbass

It's kind of like a short scale Stingray 5 Variax .
yum...dish it out :brow:
Her name is Eileen Campbell, she is 35 and lives in Leith, in Edinburgh. I've seen her at Level 42 gigs on a few ocassions. I was a bit freaked out when I first saw her but after a while, you get used to seeing a small woman. She's a great bassist and has a great sense of humour.
So…he is a she and 35 instead of 15?
-
impressive...he'll be good when he grows up not only is it technically impressive but the stuff he's into (jaco, level 42, wooten...) is advanced for a 15 year old. I remember some of the sh*t i was listening to at that age and it makes me cringe.

yeah i started a thread about my SVT-CL fan...I've not got round to replacing it yet
For £3, IMO, it's a bona fide title to have in the collection of any person with an interest in any style of bass playing.
+1 I ordered it regardless of my previous statement about not being a fan of Mark King. For any bass player it's got to be worth a listen and £3 is hardly going to break the bank.
-
It’s got to be worth a punt for 3 quid. I can't say I'm really into the Mark King sound/style of playing. I can fully appreciate the skill and ability of the man (he's most likely better than I'll ever eventually be), just not my thing. Bass player with an ego on the level of a guitarist’s? (here come the angry responses….)
Firstly I think that your girl friend is to be roundly applauded, placed on a pedestal and perhaps held up as an example to all womankind of a loving and supportive partner prepared to make sacrifices for GAS afflicted bassists worldwide.
+1 (a big 1) As lovely as my g/f is, there’s no way she would add fuel to the flames of my GAS or obsession with bass playing. In fact I get the complete opposite of that – “you’re spending too much time/money on playing bass” and “you’re spending too much time hanging out with the band(s)” etc etc…I’m sure a lot of you have heard that old argument a few times.

Do i remember seeing a pic of Ped's V4 combo that looked very similar? Aesthetically nion perfect for a combo IMO. I bet it sounds increadible, BUT (and it’s a big ‘but’)…£1799? I can’t say that I’ve ever been particularly good at judging the market value of stuff, but that seems rather high. Rarity has got to be playing a big factor I think. If it's the same as Ped's then he should have a good idea on how reasonable the price is.
Why this weekend? I've just sold my SVT-CL and wont get the cash for that until sunday, so this weekend isnt an option as I'm up in Liverpool. I'd be wanting a courier to pick it up early next week. If that sounds ok, I'm happy to give you £70 for it. Ben.
Yeah that would be more than fine mate…we should continue this in PM PS - why have you sold such a magnificent head?

i bet he's got his mates to up the bidding...not that I've ever resorted to such tactics

The guitarist in my band (Rob) got a mega deal on an American Standard Tobacco Sunburst Strat and a DigiTech Whammy (+ 8 sets of D’Addario strings thrown in for free) cos he walked in with a wedge of cash and pretty much said “take it or leave it”…and they took it. So I think to a certain extent, and because of what’s happening to the company at the moment, you can propose your own deals and be a bit of a mean f***er about it. By the way – that was the SC in Salford (Manchester)
Oh and it weighs a tone, But dont let that put you off, each to their own
Is the SVT-350 still heavy even though it’s solid-state? I’ve got the SVT-CL all valve head and it weighs about as much as my girlfriend! (she’s not a heifer ) I bloody love it though so I'm more than happy to put up with the occasional hernia.

if you could have your own sig bass by any compnay you want...

Ahh what a good thread…I love the “if money was no object” kind of school boy thinking. Hmmmm…for me it would have to be something based on a Warwick I’d have a super thin Wenge neck with dark blue LEDs making a “BW” on the 12th fret. Smallish body – custom design that’s something between a Thumb and a Streamer with 1 big Musicman humbucker positioned towards the bridge. Black hardware (and at the risk of sounding a bit gay) with sparkley bits in it. 4 strings…if you cant do it with 4 then you’re not trying hard enough I’ve honestly never played a Warwick I didn’t like (except for a 5 string Streamer Jazzman) so I’d probably just take a ‘stock’ 4 string NT Thumb and change it very subtly to suit my individual ergonomic needs.
