How bad is it not to wax my natural finish Warwick?
Dubs replied to Dubs's topic in Repairs and Technical
Cheers for all the replies guys. Yeah string change every 2 weeks - I like them fresh . Band practise is around 3 hours once a week then if I've got 2 gigs that week + any playing at home then they get a bit dull. Have to admit that I usually just boil them up then actually put a new set on every couple of months. Very helpful comments in regards to the wax situation. So I don't have to worry that I'm being grossly negligent then?...well that's good to know. Warwickhunt...50 Warwicks?!?!?!?! wow...and 1 tin of wax. Sounds like the sort of maintenance that I could get used to and obviously not worry about the wood deteriorating. Hopefully I will be able to build up a collection like that in the future. I’ll probably end up waxing it once a month then – less time and effort (I’m a lazy student). Cheers again for the info. -

Just wondering how bad it is not to wax my natural finished Warwick as amongst other things, I simply can't be arsed to do it the recommended once a week. If I'm honest I'll probably do it at least every 3 weeks but more often than not it will get done every 2 weeks when I'm replacing the strings. Hypothetically...how bad is it to leave it for a month? like on a regular basis that is for instance a year or 2...will this actually lead to the wood drying out? what happens when the wood does dry out? how can i tell when the wood is drying out? etc etc... I'm sure warwickhunt knows a thing or two about this Cheers in advance
How do I get my music onto Itunes? I'm happy to have it free for download so not bothered about getting any money for it. Just sooner have it available for free. Thanks for anyhelp.
check out tunecore.com that should explain everything
I know what you mean - I had the same thing with my Stingray. Bought a Sterling now and it's great. The sound gets pretty close and the neck is so much easier to play. Have you tried one? If not you ought to give one a go. As a comparison you could take your 'Ray along to do an AB. When the Sterling's switch is towards the bridge the humbucker is in parallel (as it is on a 'Ray). Free bump.
yeah a friend of mine has a Sterling and it feels perfect and it's easy to get used to after playing Warwicks. Tried to swap my 'ray for a Stearling a few times but no one with a Sterling wanted to let theirs go...saying that, if my Stingray looked like this I'd make myself get used to the wider neck

sounds like you've been really unlucky mate and properly messed about, I would be fecking peeved about it if it was me who got treated like that. Bass for £350...5 string i presume? you can get a Warwick Streamer Standard 5 string for not a lot more than that (i bloody love warwicks and the 'standard' isn't a rockbass). I've got the 4 string standard amongst other newer warwicks and it's amazing for the money, keep your eyes out and you might be able to pick up a good condish 5 string version 2nd hand on the cheap.

Have I missed something or are there no pictures of the matching orange headstock? Beautiful looking bass though mate, far more interesting than my Black on Black rosewood 'ray. Deserves a worthy home, good luck with it. Edit - forgot to mention I was selling my Stingray for the same reasons; the wide neck. I've withdrawn it now though.

Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer. To coin a phrase, “it does exactly what is says on the tin”. Bought this in 2003 and to be honest a mixture of immaturity and ignorance lead me to buying it as I didn’t really have a clue what it was and what it did. Got it home and used it once in my bedroom and ever since that day it’s been tucked away in its little box. This is as “as new” as could possibly ever be meant by the term. It’s still got that factory smell and the box is in proper mint condish too. Effectively this is actually brand new…but obviously not cos it’s second hand. The damage – I’m asking £35...nope, reduced to £30 including P&P!!! I’ll always be open to trade.
I've got a gator, i thought it was alright but the hardware seems a little flimsy, next time maybe a warwick tolex case, i just love the look.
those warwick tolex cases look like great value at around £40, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had experience with them.
Your wish is my command : I forgot to mention it's also full mechanical 100% true bypass, runs from a boss-style 9V plug and is really really teeny small.
ahhhhh, why do you do this to me?!?! I am now just trying to justify the cash to myself...damn you toasted for making such a beautifully tempting fuzzzzzzzzzz i may be in contact in the near future

I find the LBM to give a much smoother fuzz with more harmonic richness than either the russian (black) or american big muffs. I use one with a black russian big muff and probably use it more than any other fuzz I've got - and I've got a few cos I'm still looking for 'my sound'. I cant recommend this more for the money, even brand new at £45ish its a steal. I auditioned this a few months ago in a shop lined up against £120+ fuzz effects and it was the one that sounded the best. Forget the expensive bass specific fuzz pedals that are out there (no names mentioned cos there are a few for sale on this forum) and get one of these.
I have a a gator hardcase, which is a pain in the ass.
+1000 on the Gator hardcase for bass, it's crap. Thinking of skipping mine and buying a good case that actually fits any bass I own. I've heard Stagg bass cases are even worse. The hardcase that came with my Stingray is fantastic though, purpose built fitted case which is slim and light and robust.

looks like a solid piece of kit, would be interesting to hear a bass version. Do you know if his quoted $299 is the same for the bass version?
possibly not this, but if the sample rate is not set right, it will change the speed?
yeah this does sound like a sample rate issue, I've had this problem with ProTools a few times when for some reason the ProTools HD hardware tries playing things back at a different sample rate - I've never experienced it on PT LE though. I'd guess a way around it would be to create a new session @ 44.1k and convert all the files to this sample rate so you know that the session is definitely playing the files back at the correct sample rate, that could be one way around it but I've not used cubase since the good old days of 5.1 so I don't know the ins and outs of the program
