1. Dubs

Octave pedal

I use the MXR M88 (not the deluxe) and am very happy with it. I've heard that the EBS is a bit more 'clean' sounding. Depends what you're looking for but it's probably worth trying them both or buying second hand.
2. I've been tempted but never done it. Don't think I can get myself lower than 2...
3. Not sure that 30W Marshall would be loud enough. If you're on a budget then the 100W or 120W Laney combos would be a good bet for small ish pub gigs, pretty cheap too, especially second hand on here.
4. Yeah I played at the Bell a couple of times when I was uni up there, good venue, not sure about jam nights though. I know that there are a few acoustic nights at Ryans and a few other bars, possibly 5 Lamps at the bottom of Keddleston Road (if it's still open...?); they may have jam nights too.
5. Yeah I think it may have been through Zurich, not totally sure though as I'm not the one who dealt with it at the time. We're not registered as a business though as "we're not a covers band" but will do the odd bit here and there for friends and family or if the money is right... EDIT: As far as I can remember, all band members are listed on the insurance details. I'll try and find out from our drummer who sorted it out.
6. At the start of the year we were asked to play a covers gig and needed PLI. We could get it one off for about £30 or 12 months cover for about £75 or £80, and we knew it would be likely that more would come up throughout the year. Think we ended up playing 4 or 5 this year so it worked out that we saved money on getting one off cover. Something to think about.
7.
Best right hand technique
Sorry, I'll get my coat...
8.
Men are possibly more prone to violence, but at least you can hit them back if necessary. A violent woman is a far more tricky proposition, as I once witnessed at a wedding, of all places, where it took a number of people to pull a mad woman off the poor (male) defendant before she punched his lights right out. One good punch back would probably have stopped her in her tracks, but it's not really the done thing is it?
All's fair in love and war...
9. Just put "must not be too mental, however, a little bit may help" at the bottom of your ad.
10. Ah yes, the old 'chain-saw-on-the-grill' technique, I know it well...
11. Happened to our guitarist... more than once.
12. Ours was also closer to £70 for a similar level of cover. Can't remember who we got ours through now...
13. 17 downloads, clearly stunned to silence?!
14. Recorded this a few months ago, our drummer just finished mastering it a few weeks ago - he's been busy... things move slow in this band! Let me know what you think anyways! If you like what you hear then check us out at our never-to-be-updated myspace - myspace.com/switchtransmission EDIT: I forgot, this track is our most recent - haha oops... Anyway, I feel that the bass lines are kind of 'I did what I had to do' kind of lines; the songs allowed for little bass embellishment before detracting from the fact that we're writing songs, not show pieces...
15. For me, the most important thing to do is give an honest description and mention any fault or marks. I find that if you're totally honest it can actually work in your favour and I've had things sell for far more than I was expecting due to the condition of them.
16. Great amps these - one of my friends bought one new about 2 months ago, if only you were selling then...
17. I went to college with the guy in the OP, wasn't in the same year/class but I did see him play a few times. Great player. I think he got his RockSchool grade 8 around 2004/2005 ish, can't remember, but I've got a feeling he done it the same sort of time that I done mine.
18.
As much as it pains me... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=223988
Crikey! Bargain!
19. I know the ones, I'll find the link, gimme 2 mins... EDIT: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Stereo-mono-barr...=item4cec03a644 I've seen them cheaper though, just google "barrel jack socket", not sure you'll find them for the £2 mentioned below.
20. It's only the open E that sounds terrible. I think he's probably giving it loads of attack which is just making it sound weird. The whole thing sounds a bit off, just the technology making it sound worse than it really was I reckon.
