How much damage should/could it do to the amp? Just asking cos I left my amp in the 8ohm position after using it with my 8ohm practise cab, then plugged it into my 4ohm TecAmp L410 and used it for a high volume 4 hour practise. It handled it fine and didn't overheat or anything, I just noticed now that I didn't put it into the 4ohm position on the back of the amp. Basically, do I have anything to worry about if I regularly forget to change the ohmage of the amp when I'm using different cabs? My understanding is that having the amp set to 4ohms with an 8ohm load should be fine, but the other way round could start to blow stuff up, which is exactly how I had it last night...
Best price yet I have seen for a 2009 Am Std Fender in arguably the most desirable colour scheme. Surely someone should snap this up at this price? Best of luck with sale
+1 Great price! If this were a 2009 in black/maple then I'd have it. -
Those Boschma are really ugly! Haha
They look 'industrial' What's uglier - a Boschma rack case or broken gear?
-
Baschma. Wouldn't use anything else unless it was a full tour flight case that was being carried by roadies
-
We play it in the original key - standard tuning. Same as dave_bass5 - lowest note is F.
-
My acoustic bass is also quite, but if I play it with a pick it pretty much doubles in volume. Give that a go maybe?

eBay for all things random. Have you considered using grill cloth rather than a metal grill?
The two speakers on their own are going to set you back £158, and Thomann sell the whole thing for £152.
bargain! How can the speakers cost more than the complete cab?!
This is great, nice one. Can't wait for the pics. I have a fantasy about building my own 1 x 12 cabs. Very interesting! PS: Where did you get the handle, corners, carpet, etc? Thanks!
Thanks very much I got pretty much everything through eBay. Everything except the carpet spray, the black spray paint, the Eminence driver and the wood came from eBay. I used it today at band practise and I could hear the driver reaching its peak when I was really pushing it. At this level it was loud enough to use with a full band (drums and 4x12 Marshall stack) but I wouldn't run it that hot for longer than a few seconds. To get over this I'm going to add a hinged tilt-back system so I can point it straight at my ears so I can hear clearly what I'm playing. I may actually end up using this for some originals gigs as all I really need the backline for is on-stage monitoring. We'll see... I'd encourage anyone to have a go at building a cab though. I've found it to be a really enjoyable experience. I might end up doing another one eventually.
That`s really impressive looking! Like the idea of a self build cab. How did you get the carpet covering to fit so well? Might have a go at one meself...... Jez
Cheers mate I bought some good carpet and some good carpet spray-on glue, and then watched a lot (a lot!) of youtube videos on carpeting speaker boxes etc. Basically I didn't do a perfect job but I spent the time to get it as good as possible and didn't rush. The whole process was a learning curve and to some extent a bit of trial and error. I've made a couple of carpeted pedalboards that also probably helped. Just give it a go - the worst that will happen is that you have to buy some more carpet if you really f*** it up

One to show the grill a bit better:

Making the frame for the grill and putting the grill cloth on was probably the biggest pain in the arse of the whole project: and then for the cloth...
So what sort of driver can I get? I had a look at the Eminence website and they only do 10", bear in mind I'm looking for lightweight stuff only!
Are you looking at guitar or bass drivers? You can spend a lot of money on a 12" guitar driver - there are so many to choose from. I'd say start with the Celestion range and decide how much you have to spend. These sound very nice - http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/celes...ffer-p-235.html - but are £170 each! That website sells a lot of 12" guitar drivers from a few different manufacturers including Eminence and Celestion.
what's the virtual battery running dude?
It's isolating the power going to the Synth Wah - it was quite noisy without it but the virtual battery has cleaned it right up.

I think I managed to come up with a solution that minimised this. Obviously there was some slight reduction in cross-section size but I think it was minimal. I'll post some pics in a bit to show what I did.

Finished it all off now. I'll post some pics later on...

I'll add to this - Chris bought my SWR Bass 750 a little while ago and was a pleasure to deal with. Cheers mate, and cheers for the bass related chattery Hope you're still getting on well with it...
