I'm not at the point with bass yet where I have £1k+ kit...
Which is probably why you've flippantly mentioned that they can be repaired That's not really the point, and neither is the money...
I think the chaos fuzz looks like my next build. Blend plus options for both germanium and silicon fuzz each with its own volume control. That sounds like a money idea.
I had that in my shopping basket as well as a few other things to finish the build off, literally about to buy it, then my boss leans over my shoulder and says, "erm...work related?!". Think I'll buy it now though I'm home!
When I went back into the venue, he was sitting there playing my bass! - Unbelievable!
I would have gone ape... I'm always a bit funny about people playing my main bass, even if I say they can have a quick go. I've got a bit of a situation in my band cos the singer is also a bass player so thinks it's ok to play my bass sometimes when I put it down at practise. It can be really annoying because he's quite a sloppy/agressive player. With regards to amps, I don't mind people using my cab at all but it annoys the f*** out of me when someone assumes they can borrow your head/amp at a gig and then fiddles with all your settings and basically completely f***s up your sound. That makes me really angry and I've let rip at someone about it before...

Just been browsing the Musikding site - the Bass Amuser kit looks like an absolute mother f***er to build!

Good advice so far, thanks guys. Think we're probably looking at asking for £600 for this particular venue and the potential events that we may be asked to play at...
my company paid a major label 3-piece who are big fans of Buck Rogers about £7.5k for a 30 min set last year.
Nice
Remember that functions for people who are not your mates require a whole lot of attitude, behaviour and management that's different to originals/pubs/fun gigs.
Yeah that's how we've approached all the covers gigs we've done for a fee; if someone's paying then you've got to i) make sure it goes down smoothly, and ii) put on a good show... £100 per person +£100 band kitty sounds about right, which is also along the lines we were thinking. Cheers for the replies guys.

I'm after an idea as to what a reasonable rate to charge would be... I know it's kind of like "how long's a piece of string", but what should a client expect to get for: - £250 - £500 - £750 - £1000 - £1500 - £2000+ We went out for £450 on Saturday night and played a 45min set followed by a 55min set for a private party in a nice bar. It went down really well; we had a great crowd reaction and the client was really happy. The venue (events manager) then asked us if they could recommend us to clients from out of town who are also looking for a band to play at an event or private function. We agreed and left it open for them to contact us as and when, but the bottom line is that we're NOT a covers band; none of us want to do this regularly and we've only ever played functions and parties for friends or friends of friends who have asked for us personally and then agreed the fee depending on what they're asking for and the nature of the event. Basically we want to make it worth our while and would charge the top end of what's 'reasonable', otherwise we won't bother as we'd rather work on our originals. I know we've got a lot of seasoned players that have 'done the rounds' and have a wealth of info on this kind of thing, so I think this could also serve as a really useful thread for others who are in a similar boat... Thanks in advance.

Powerful PA amp that's flightcased in an IDEX Caseworks 4u flightcase. Full specs available here - http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/rmx/rmx.htm Looking for £250 collected from Portsmouth. Meet up locally may be available. Shipping may be an option...

Depending on what bass it is, I'd be tempted just to leave it as it is... it adds to the mojo
Bigger, louder amps!, Is there any point?
If it doesn't make your balls tingle then it's not loud or low enough
I know I've mentioned it before - but there's a set up I would dearly love to hear! - I had the Tech-Soundsystems 4x10 cabs and would have loved to have compared them to the newer Tec cabs. That's a peach of a rig!
Thanks mate As always with GAS, things change...
haha this is very old news but yes, it's true. All the new rockbasses have the warwick W on the headstock instead of that crappy looking rockbass logo, two piece warwick bridges and the necks are 3 piece maple with ekanga veneers. It's about time, the old rockbasses just didn't look very nice to me.
I agree completely, but it's bad news IMO. It's just bluring the lines between the Rockbass and the German made stuff...
Straight trade for a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner?
Probably not mate - I'm looking to pick up a Pitchblack and a used LS-2 from the sale of the DTR-2000. A straight trade would leave me looking for the cash for one or the other... Cheers for the offer though.
-
Selling a DTR-2000 because I think it's more useful to have a tuner on my pedalboard... It's missing a screw from each side of the rack ears but can still be racked perfectly - only mentioning because I think I should. A couple of little marks but nothing at all serious. Looking for £90 + £5 postage. Collection from Portsmouth welcome. I'd welcome a P/X for a good condition Korg Pitchblack + £50 inclusive of postage to you anywhere in mainland UK.
Oh and the 2000 has a built in racklight, with which you can impress chicks, win friends, influence people, and end world poverty - at least thats what mine said....
I use a DTR-2000 and I've certainly experienced all of these
They are slower than the Korg DTR. Some would say unusably so.
Also tend not to be that accurate with the lower frequencies...
