A lot of you guys know the score with these – A great pedal to liven up and enhance the sound of your bass with a built in DI and very easy to use. I’d be keeping it if I didn’t need to build a new PC and pay back NatWest for the pleasure of racking up a healthy Master Card bill It’s in a very reasonable condition with only a couple of minor scratches. I’ve removed the rubber feet and replaced them with a couple of Velcro strips for it to sit nicely on a carpeted pedalboard. £50 + £2.50 P&P or collected from Portsmouth.

I bought this a while ago as an intro to 5 string playing and it has been great for that purpose, but for financial reasons the time has come to move it on. The bass has a very clean and modern sound to it, almost something between a Jazz and Precision, and it feels great to play. As a 4 string player, the neck felt naturally comfortable almost straight away and it didn’t take long to get used to playing slightly differently to optimise the low B. The bass itself is in a good condition with a couple of minor marks and dings on the back. It’s finished in a sparkle black colour with a rosewood board. I’m asking £75 for this collected. I’d rather not post due to the fact that it doesn’t come with any kind of case, but if the buyer is willing to pay expenses I may be able to source sufficient packaging as a last resort. EDIT - The bass can be collected from Portsmouth or I may be able to meet within 10 miles or so - I'm not really up for an epic adventure to Glasgow for a £75 bass

There's a time and place for a good bit of slap, which is why I voted "I can but I don't".

Reef were great. I loved the first album - some great tunes on that.

Continuing on from another thread where a few of us have been discussing who played bass on Jamiroquai's album recording of Space Cowboy, who is "Mr. X"? For those that aren't familiar with what I'm talking about, Stuart Zender was the original bass player in Jamiroquai and he played on the first 3 Jamiroquai albums, but "Mr. X" was credited with playing bass on the song Space Cowboy on the 1996 album The Return Of The Space Cowboy. Does anyone know who "Mr. X" is?
Doesn't sound like him. It doesn't sound like Randy Hope Taylor either. I reckon it was whoever was playing guitar for them at the time.
I'm gonna have to start another thread for this...

I loved my SVT but it was a heavy f***er so got the boot. If only Ampeg could break the laws of physics and make an all valve 300W head and 8x10 cab that weighs in at about 70lbs :brow: That would be a good day...
You are indeed right, I remember reading that a while back, so who is the mysterious Mr X, Andrew Levy maybe? Whoever it is needs a serious pat on the back for some smooth and creative 5 string bass work, funky as 10 funky things in a place called "funky" T
haha definitely
Not as nice a feeling as nailing the whole of space cowboy with all zenders variations though
It's not Zender on the album. The bass is credited as "Mr. X", something that I was gutted about when I found out because up until that point it was my favourite Zender bass line, but it's not Zender... Zender played on the studio version that was arranged as more of a higher tempo dance single with some crowd pleasing cheesy slap on it. It doesn't come close to the album version IMO.

Most probably more than 1, and most definitely less than 1000.

If it sounds good then it sounds good. Who cares if a lot is added post if the end result is great?

Obviously a brass bridge will have a greater mass, so I'd guess that the transfer of any reverberations of the strings through to the body woods will be more efficient so you may hear more of the intrinsic tonal qualities of the body woods whilst playing? Dunno though...

It's too loud when your ears start bleeding and your fillings fall out. Use ear plugs.

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???
I've just discovered this thread & was really surprised that Rickenbackers haven't had as much of a slagging as they have. It's not that their basses are bad (although it's definitely a Marmite love/hate thing), it's difficult to understand whether they are good enough to justify the price. A standard build 4003 currently retails for around £1,699 & there's a waiting list of up to 12 months to get one if you can't find a shop that hasn't coincidentally ordered the one you want on spec a year in advance. I just don't get it... On the other hand, if you try to sell something vaguely resembling a Rick on eBay they'll be on to you faster than a burning whippet - they need to spend less time on the internet protecting their patents & more time on the factory floor doing some graft if you ask me! B.
Maybe they're limiting the market to keep the new prices artificially high? The thing that doesn't surprise me any more is the amount of high profile indie bands that have Rickenbacker endorsements; there's loads of the f***ers using them. -

The one thing that struck me the most about all the tracks is the sloppy drumming - seems a bit all over the place. I'd suggest to your drummer to keep it simple and solid, and maybe a bit more practise with the double kick? Not meaning to have a dig, it's just my honest opinion. Musically it's not what I'm into so I won't pass comment.

I asked my nan, she wasn't the singer. Does that narrow it down?
