1.
must have been better than the one i had the misfortune of using then worst sound ive ever heard,i wouldnt choose posh spice either
you've obviously not used the Ashdown budget equivalent
  2.
Cheers Ben! Did you get a new Thumb bass yet, or are you on the lookout for something else?
ah, well I had a bout of GAS for a G&L, so that's put on hold any move for a Thumb at the moment. If the right one comes up at the right price then I'm sure I could find the readies...I’d still love another.
  3.
First question: Will any aftermarket Jazz scratchplate fit a 5-string USA Fender JB?
I think the screw holes differ in position slightly on some non-original Fender replacements, but I couldn’t tell you how they’re different.
  4.
I think that it's very ugly, but interesting in a historical context.
I pretty much agree with this.
  5. Another +1 for Hotrox. If you're ever in Notts then go and check them out - fantastic customer service.
  6. I’d generally always put a tuner first, anything after that is ‘right’ if it sounds ‘right’. There are generally no rules for this except what sounds good to you.
  7. I owned the 410HLF for a bit with the SVT-CL head and it sounded immense. It was a very boomy sound with exaggerated lows and low mids, but that was the sound I was going for at the time – it had that great all valve growl. Very loud rig – never had the master volume above 3! It actually wouldn’t make any difference if you could rewire the 410HE to 4ohms, cos the SVT-CL will kick out 300W at 4ohms and 8ohms. It's only with transistor amps where you lose wattage for a 'heaver' load.
  8. Just to give props where props are due – Rick is a great guy to deal with, so buy with confidence
  9.
I can do them for £30 plus a fiver for postage.
that made me chuckle
  10.
I had a Hartke combo a while back , it wasn't the most powerful combo (100 watts I believe) but it was so punchy sounding, really punchy mids, coincidentally I also have an Ashdown combo (150 watts) which is nowhere as good as the Hartke , It must be something to do with the aluminium cone
I don’t think it’s all to do with the driver – I’m not a fan of any of the Ashdown budget amps at all. They sound f***ing awful IMO. So with this in consideration, I’d say that any other brand of combo that’s of a similar wattage would be ‘better’ (louder, punchier, clearer, more usable tone, etc…) than any Ashdown equivalent. This, of course, is just my opinion.
  11. If it don't feel right, then don't do it - it's not worth the stress.
  12.
Check 'em out on Google Fight
haha - do anything vs "porn" - the other one loses every time "the internet is for porn...", said someone, once...
  13. Great price for a great rig. Good luck with this one – can’t really believe this has been here for 2 weeks
  14.
combo wars
My combo is ‘arder than your combo…
  15. Just out of interest - do you have any pics of the back of the headstock?
  16. Wasn't me, unfortunately/fortunately (depends what angle you’re looking at it from ).
  17. Dubs

    SOLD

got a pic of the condition?
  18.
Thanks for the pic hehe. Btw, I ahve to ask, why is there a 1p glued to the back?
Haha I don’t really know - my friend done it for a joke about 5 years ago
  19. Ah man, if you were going to sell this a few weeks ago then I would have bought it back This is probably the best amp in terms of raw tone that I’ve ever owned and would be a great buy for anyone. This is the only pic I could find that I still have of it (the grill is off, but it has the standard Trace Elliot diamond patterned metal grill): Hope this sells for what it’s worth. Good luck with the sale mate
  20.
...and I must say Im relieved because Im trying to save money not spend it!
+1 !!
  21. It’s very nice, but has anyone told you it’s the wrong way round?
  22. I used to own a 7210H GP7 and it was absolutely amazing - most usable tone I've ever had out of any amp. As this is very similar, it deserves a bump A guide price might help interest, and I’ll link the pics for you: Good luck with this.
  23.
Have seen a bass I wouldn't mind off of the for sale section here (damn Gas).
Just wondering, what is it that you're GASing for? PM me if you'd prefer.
