2. Just out of interest, what shop was it? BTW, this is about as 'On Topic' as it gets on a bass forum
3. Very nice - does the missus know yet?
4.
I don't like the Zender or the Cort
This might be me going a bit crazy, but the shape of the Zender looks like a very similar shape to the bass in your avatar…
5. I still like the look of the Zender.
6.
@benwhiteuk Is that true???? my life is complete....I usually listen but I believe I was changing my sons nappy at that point this morning.
you could probably listen to his show again on the BBC iPlayer thing, just skip to about an hour an 10 minutes into it...
7. Chris Moyles was raving about this on Radio 1 this morning at about 7:40am. “There was a bass player and everything” – you got a mention!
8.
use a synth ;p and you'd achieve it better by putting a boost infront of the guv'nor just something to drive it into epic saturation
That’s similar to how I’d go about it I think.
9.
How did they think it'd be good idea?!?!
too much crack, not enough reality
10. Although I’m not familiar with either, I’d guess that the best way to do it would be to use the effects return on the back of the HA 3500 – I’d guess this would be the simplest solution.
11.
IME, there are usually 2 reasons for being sacked: 1. You are a PITA to work with. 2. You're not musically up to the job. Neither can be remedied overnight, so, in that respect there is not much to discuss. Bands don't usually fire musicians for fun. My guess is that this has been building up for a while, you just weren't reading the signs. Text, Letter, Phone call, Face to face....sacked is sacked! Steve
It’s a hard line, but I kind of agree with this – it’s rare for a band member to be sacked without there being serious fundamental issues. It’s pretty sh*t the way it happened though man, definitely feel for you.
12. that pretty much double price in the last 10 minutes didnt it? I saw it at about £70 with half an hour to go then just checked what it ended up going for.
13. Much better than Halfords then - I got a reply today from an email that I sent 14 days ago about a problem that I've had for 26 days! The email was completely unhelpful as well. Good to hear about good service from Ashdown though.
14. IMO, you’re well overdue a string change after 2 years let alone 20 New strings will probably give you the growl and zing that you’re looking for, so it’s probably as simple as that. You could try just boiling your strings and seeing if it is a case of the dirty/old strings not being bright enough. As for specific brands, I love the feel and sound of Ernie Ball strings so I’d start there if I were you, but you’re likely to get lots of different advice on here about specific brands being ‘better’ than others – it comes down to personal preference. If the gauge you’ve mentioned feels and sounds good to you then try and get as close to that as possible when experimenting with different brands. It’s also good to experiment with different gauges though – I went through a stage of playing extra light gauge strings because I found I could play really fast, but I snapped so many! Good luck on your string adventure…
15. Looks a bit odd to me, I'm not really a fan of it.
16. Good luck with this mate - sounds like it’s going to be a great experience. I’m rarely awake at that time on a Sunday but if I am I’ll try and remember to flick it on and check it out.
17.
The Godin thinline acoustic basses do that - just a piezo in the bridge. I had one of the first ones (the old "Acoustibass") and it sounded ****ing lush, frankly.
I really like the look of a bass with no pickups – kind of odd at first but very chic IMO :brow: If I was to commission a custom build I think I’d be looking into using only Pizos…
18. I’d lose the P style pickups and stick with a single humbucker, purely on aesthetics.
19. Slight OT, but in theory could you use Piezos on their own instead of using them in conjunction with a standard wound pickup? Would it sound rubbish?
20.
Imagine if he confuses forehead with foreskin
You just reminded me of the American Pie superglue incident
21. Tim Commerford? Not technically amazing bass lines but absolutely solid riffage and killer tone.
22. I've got a DOD Stereo Phaser you can have for £1900 :brow:
23.
Hi, I've got a rare 2x 12 ( i think...could be 2x10), but the speakers have blown. They are blue in colour (celestions?), does anyone know where I can get the speakers reconed?..it seems such a pity to have such a rare cab just lying about doing nothing. Any help would be really cool. Thanks
With all due respect, and I don’t mean this in a sarcy way, but how do you know it’s a rare cab if you don’t even know if it’s a 2x12 or 2x10? Again, I’m not trying to be sarcy, but I’m just interested My old guitarist had a modern AC30 CC2X with the 2 12” Celestion “Blue Bulldog” speakers and it sounded absolutely immense!
24. If I was around then I might come down to this, but alas, I'll be in that London (I seem to be up there more often than here at the moment ). Have a good one though mate
