Although I’m not familiar with either, I’d guess that the best way to do it would be to use the effects return on the back of the HA 3500 – I’d guess this would be the simplest solution.

Steve[/quote] It’s a hard line, but I kind of agree with this – it’s rare for a band member to be sacked without there being serious fundamental issues. It’s pretty sh*t the way it happened though man, definitely feel for you.

that pretty much double price in the last 10 minutes didnt it? I saw it at about £70 with half an hour to go then just checked what it ended up going for.

Much better than Halfords then - I got a reply today from an email that I sent 14 days ago about a problem that I've had for 26 days! The email was completely unhelpful as well. Good to hear about good service from Ashdown though.

IMO, you’re well overdue a string change after 2 years let alone 20 New strings will probably give you the growl and zing that you’re looking for, so it’s probably as simple as that. You could try just boiling your strings and seeing if it is a case of the dirty/old strings not being bright enough. As for specific brands, I love the feel and sound of Ernie Ball strings so I’d start there if I were you, but you’re likely to get lots of different advice on here about specific brands being ‘better’ than others – it comes down to personal preference. If the gauge you’ve mentioned feels and sounds good to you then try and get as close to that as possible when experimenting with different brands. It’s also good to experiment with different gauges though – I went through a stage of playing extra light gauge strings because I found I could play really fast, but I snapped so many! I’d lose the P style pickups and stick with a single humbucker, purely on aesthetics.

Slight OT, but in theory could you use Piezos on their own instead of using them in conjunction with a standard wound pickup? Would it sound rubbish?

Again, I’m not trying to be sarcy, but I’m just interested My old guitarist had a modern AC30 CC2X with the 2 12” Celestion “Blue Bulldog” speakers and it sounded absolutely immense!

If I was around then I might come down to this, but alas, I'll be in that London (I seem to be up there more often than here at the moment ). Have a good one though mate
