Yes, that was the whole point of the post. Duh??!!!! There are people out there who are more talented the so called"gods" that are worshipped on here daily, with perhaps even more technical ability. And they probably don't make any money doing it - and have never been heard of (generally). And the great thing about this guy is that you can go on to his youtube vids or his myspace site and depending upon what you want to learn, he gives great lesson on technique - for nowt. As for you being unimpressed - so what? That wasn't and isn't the issue here. It is purely an illustration of a guy who is technically (and he also does some non technical but musical stuff) better than the household names, and isn't up his own arse.
I think you’re barking up the wrong tree with this one mate.
Who is moaning? FFS....open your mind a little? Have a look at his other stuff.............like I said. He is very versatile. I don't particularly like/prefer it. I uploaded it to show there are other people (unrecognised) that have equal if not better ability in this genre than Wooten and the like.
All you’ve shown me is that there’s another bass player who can rival even the biggest fret w***ers out there. I was genuinely completely unimpressed by all those videos. The guy has great technique and I wish I was half as good as him, but he’s doing f*** all with it and w***ing unimaginatively all over the place. It sounds awful!
if you like slap, get a load of this OUTRAGEOUS, and check his other stuff out too...........makes Wooten look a bit average IMO
How can you moan about Wooten being a "one trick pony" and then tout this guy as being better than him?
-
Hey man, I might agree with you but it’s generally not a good idea to introduce yourself to a forum by making sweeping generalisations about its members. I’ve not read the other thread as I was fully expecting the usual comments about Wooten to regurgitate themselves and reappear as they usually do every 4 months or so, but could you not have verbalised your opinions in that thread? I don’t get the point of starting this thread just to moan about the members who are participating in the other thread…I don’t think you’re going to get many people congratulating you on starting such a worthy topic of discussion.
I'm sure it is, he doesn't update the site much.
I was very close to buying that about 6 months ago when I saw it in stock - I don't know if it had sold before that though. I'd have a punt on it in a flash right now if I had £500 knocking about...

Not really sure where to post this one so if it’s in the wrong place then feel free to move it wherever… Anyway, I sometimes put my iTunes on random and play to whatever comes on and today Disco Heat by Calvin Harris popped up. I worked it out in about 5 mins but it’s not in tune and I’m almost 100% sure that it’s not an issue with my bass, but I’d really appreciate it if someone else could confirm it for me. From when it kicks in with the main riff, the roots are – G, F, Eb, D, C, and then repeated but in reverse. Can anyone confirm that this is out of tune?

Warwick, only because tBBC hates them.

That’s amazing - I've got to email the guy and ask where that valuation came from and see if he'd like to buy my Jim Deacon acoustic guitar for £800...

To be fair to the guy, he's put enough clear pictures up for anyone who knows what they're looking at to make a fairly good judgement of the quality of the de-fret, and his BIN price is lower than what a fretted FNA of the same condition would probably go for - I'm not defending that de-fret job though -

Not a clue. I remember my learning curve being very steep for about 2 years then it almost plateaued for about 4 years, but I do remember being a quick learner and being able to play most of the RATM back catalogue 2 or 3 months after I first picked up a bass. For my first year of playing I would play for at least an hour every single day and often for more than 2. I’m not much better now than when I was 3 years after I started playing, and I’ve been playing for about 8 years now.
Hey! It's a beauty mate . Maybe I'm wrong but... actually It's a Warwick Corvette Proline, not a Corvette Standard, which is came with active electronics as a standard. It has a 2 piece flamed maple body instead of bubinga and the neck is not wenge but ovangkol . So I think It's a bit more 'edgy' than the Standard. BUMP!
Any chance of a few more pics?

Not sure I can help I terms of identifying the differences between different brands, but I started a thread about the differences between 9V and 18V preamps – might be some help to you? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=35505
