1. There’ve been a lot of “what order should I put these pedals in?” type threads and I was just wondering what basic rules of thumb there are to guide as a general starting point for setting up your effects chain. The sort of thing I mean is the idea that it’s the ‘norm’ to put your compressor at the end of your signal chain and your tuner at the start of your chain. Apart from that I don’t really have an idea of what type of pedals generally sound good before or after certain other types of pedals, and I’m sure there are others who would be interested to know what the general consensus is as to the ‘correct’ order of pedals. Should you put a distortion before a phaser? Or a flanger before a delay? Or a synth before a ring modulator? You get the idea, but I don’t even know if you can be as general as this though… What do you guys reckon?
  2.
have the gaps where the frets used to be been filled?
I had a defretted Jazz bass for a little while and the fret gaps weren't filled in but you couldn’t feel it at all when you played it. It was very professionally defretted before I got my mucky mitts on it though
  3. How deep/high is the Thomann keyboard bag? I might be able to use it as a gig bag for my pedalboard but I need it to be about 6" high. EDIT: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_typ1.htm - Is it this one? If so I'll have it Just about to shoot out so I'll PM you later on this afternoon.
  4.
Bottom B on a DB is cool. End of.
Straight to the point. I'll give upright playing a go in a few years after I get to grips with a blank fingerboard fretless.
  5. http://www.thomasmartin.co.uk/instruments-...tring-bass.html Looks interesting but I don't have a clue about double bass playing - what do you guys think? Gimmick or good idea?

    COMPLETED

I'd be interested if I were able to collect...
  8. How much would you consider letting the combo go for by itself?
  9. I’d be interested in buying one… Let me know if you decide to split them
  10. Is it not easier and less laborious to just put the prices in the OP? You’ve got some great stuff for sale and people are interested, but I had to read the whole thread to find out if you’d put a price on something. Might even get more interest? Who knows? Best of luck with it

    Ibanez

I’ve only liked a few Ibanez’s that I’ve played in shops and generally they’ve cost over a grand, but I’ve not tried anything new for about 5 years. A few of their basses have felt like nasty cheap pieces of plastic sh*t to me, but others have felt pretty decent and have sounded great.
  12.
I went to look at a Proline to buy privately. It was bolt-on, bubinga body and two J pickups and passive. The trussrod cover said "Proline". Year was 1995 IIRC. It all looked as it left the factory to me anyway. Price was £250 if that's any help. Frank
I didn't know they did a passive proline. £250 was a really good price if it was a proline - I take it you didn't buy though?
  13.
How about a Funk Logic Palindrometer?
i like that
  14.
Too much wah, not enough dirt!!!
Wait till I post a pic of my updated board this time next week There will be 12 pedals including a compressor, and 6 of them are overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedals :brow: Pretty much complete overkill, but at least I’ve put 1 of them up for sale
  15.
bassists that can do no wrong, who are the ones that everyone loves!?!
Me, cos I'm f***ing great
  16.
Would you be willing to post to Ireland? I can cover the postage costs as well obviously
Yeah that wouldn’t be a problem
  17.
Same here Ben, he taught me at Derby Uni too. He's an awesome player and genuinely a nice guy but I found him frustrating as a teacher.
Yeah definitely. When did you graduate?
  18. "For sale: Other musically related stuff" ? Looks like a great amp though
  19. He taught me at Derby Uni for a couple of years. Amazing player, but could talk the face off a donkey Top bloke.
  20.
BTW your poll doesn't work properly. If I pick "no" for cleaning strings then the second question is irrelevant but it's not possible to leave it blank and still vote in the first part. What you should have done is just had the second part of the poll with a 4th option for "I buy new strings rather than cleaning and re-using"
Ah, I didn't realise that you had to leave an answer for both parts. Oh well, too late now...
  21. I had a GP7 combo that was similar to this but it was the 300W 2x10 version – probably the best sounding combo I’ve ever heard. It sounded so good that when I used it for a gig supporting quite a big band, the bass player from the first support band was offered to use the headliner’s Mesa 400+ rig, but instead asked me if he could use my Trace cos it sounded so good in soundcheck! Best amp compliment I’ve ever had. Best of luck with the sale
  22.
Ah...it's something on my Korg multi effects thingy, called "Srv". Quite nice for the mellow stuff. I'm still getting to grips with it, though.
It sounds great and the sound bouncing around in stereo is really effective. Good stuff
