Nice chord progressions, and very mellow – the delay was really tripping me out though - What delay were you using?

I’ll add a clip because I’m not too sure how familiar people are with this pedal and how it sounds. I’ve recorded it on the setting which I think sounds the best; Drive on 10, both EQ controls at 5, and with it on the distortion mode and the attack switch turned off. I used a MusicMan Sterling and have tried to keep the playing quite simple so you can properly hear how the pedal sounds. I think this can also be used as a very cheap way of getting a similar sound to Chris Wolstenholm’s bass sound on Hysteria… I’ll be away for the next 24 hours so I wont be able to reply to any PM’s till tomorrow evening.
It wasn't until you used the term 'longer' that I realised that I had used the term 'wider', I obviously meant the same thing because the pups aren't in fact any 'wider' if you are talking the distance across them... Argh this is doing my head in! wider / longer / longer / wider / whatever
I know exactly what you mean...
Thanks for the reply. Actually i like it hanging low. At the moment I'm using a Ernie Ball bag and that sits lower than my head. I travel on the tubes and busses a lot and also carry a suit bag so i don't really want to have to take it off each time. when you say it sits high is this with the backpack straps or is there also a shoulder strap?
It sits pretty high with the backpack straps but the separate shoulder strap works really well – you can attach it in 2 different places, but to be honest I wouldn’t want to walk around with it on my shoulder for too long as it’s pretty heavy when you’ve got a bass in it. The bag is so well padded and because of this it weighs as about as much as a hardcase. It definitely sits too high for the Jubilee/Victoria style trains, but it’s probably alright for bigger District/Circle type trains, if that makes any sense.
The back/rear/bridge pup on some sets of pups is marginally wider than the front/neck pup
+1 A rear Jazz pickup will be slightly longer than the front, and this is just due to the pole pieces of the front pickup having to be slightly closer to each other because of the change in string spacing the further down the bass you get.
Isn't there all the routing? Assuming it's a Fender!
Not all are routed like that. I think there was a thread on Jazz bass routing, I'll see if I can find it... EDIT: Found it - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...outing&st=0 - I don't know if it really explains much though.
Any chance one of you guys could take and post or email me a pic of the back. specifically how the strap (assuming there is one) attaches. Im looking for a new gig bag but dont like them sitting too high above my head if you know what i mean. Cheers for any input. might order one next week.
It does sit pretty high to be honest, but it’s better to be higher than lower IME/IMO. It’s a small price to pay (quite literally) for a quality gig bag.

I’ve bought a few things recently so other things have to go as a result. I’ve owned this from new and it’s in great condition. It sound fantastic but the footswitch is occasionally a bit temperamental; 9 time out of 10 it’s fine but every now and again you will have to click it 2 or 3 times for it to turn on/off. This was a design fault on these pedals although I’ve heard it’s very easy to fix. Other than that it’s fantastic. Looking for £30 but will consider trades.

Yeah I f***ing hate it when stuff doesn’t turn up. Do you have the tracking number? Can you trace the route it’s taken by typing in the tracking number online? – I know you can do this with a few couriers such as Business Post and Parcel Force. If you can track where it’s been then you’ll be able to see the last place where it was scanned… Other than that, I’d recommend going to http://www.saynoto0870.com/ and finding a local alternative to the national rate numbers you’ve been calling, and then call from a landline or from a contract mobile with free minutes. Good luck

Nice one I got a merit at grade 8 (RockSchool) in 2003 on the old syllabus, but I’m learning to new syllabus and I want to take that soon just as a means on keeping a bit of focus on practice time – you lose so much when you stop for any period of time, and unfortunately it’s definitely not like riding a bike…
The logical conclusion in the current climate will be that the only place you'll be able to buy a bass will be online, or the odd cheap squier in a general music store. I can see both sides - musicians are often a bit short of money so every penny counts. At the same time if retailers are only making £50 profit here and there they'll be out of business soon enough. I see no problem in getting a bit off a big ticket item as the margin is usually bigger percentage wise, but ask for 20% off a £200 bass and just maybe next time you visit the shop it'll be gone. Then who's the mug?
Who’s asking for 20%? I completely agree with you that times are hard at the moment for both retailers and customers alike, but the customer is likely to negotiate on the price of instruments and the retailer should be expecting it. I was trying to make the point that if something is considerably marked up and somewhat overpriced in a high street shop, the customer is a complete mug for not even having a go at negotiating, and even if the price seems alright it could be worth a go at asking for a bit off. In all honesty, a lot of people might try and negotiate on the price of the majority of things sold in shops, but I wouldn't walk into Sainsbury's and negotiate at the till though; that's a completely different situation. If a retailer of musical instrument doesn’t want to negotiate on their prices at all then they’re in the wrong business. Is it not just standard to negotiate on the price?
Er, that'd be me officially classed a mug, then. I always just renew my insurance (never compare quotes) when that time rolls around, and the last time I bought a used car, I paid the price on the window. I completely accept that I'm one of the least savvy people to have ever walked the earth.
I'm not shocked, but I'm amazed that people just renew their insurance. For the sake of a 10 minute phone call you would guarantee to make a considerable saving.

Bought a Behringer synthy thing off Pete – great guy to deal with an it came so well packaged that I’m sure even Royal Mail wouldn’t have been able to damage it with an inter-depot 5-a-side tournament of “Consignment Football” Double thumbs up, cheers mate

I thought it’s pretty standard to get up to about 10% discount in a music shop on instruments. I pretty much never settle for the price on the tag – if you don’t ask you don’t get. I wouldn’t expect much discount on cheap things (under £50), but I once got £20 off a £150 second hand guitar in Sound Control about 3 years ago. When I bought a cheap acoustic from a guitar shop in Derby it had a few very minor marks on it and the strings sounded a but dull, so I asked if there was anything the guy could do about the price to reflect this – he threw in a couple of packs of Martin acoustic strings and a £20 gig bag for free, and the guitar only cost £100 in the first place. Generally I don’t ask for money off effects though cos I’ll just accept the high street mark-up or buy online – instruments are different I think, as I’d never buy something new without trying it in person first. I reckon it’s pretty f***ed up if retailers aren’t prepared to negotiate a little on price, let alone in the current economic climate, and especially on something like musical instruments. I think that could be a pretty good way of losing future custom and spreading a bad reputation about your business. Would you walk into a car dealership and accept the price in the window of a used car or accept your first insurance quote? You’re a mug if you do…
Haha you know it! I need to see better pics of your 'wicks actually! hit me up?
Some pics here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=31196&hl – I don’t possess great picture taking abilities but you get the idea The SSII is no longer with me though. I’ll eventually have a nice one…

A Stage I is definitely the lightest of all the Warwick thru neck basses and is actually the lightest bass I own. A Stage II is heavier but not nearly as heavy as an NT Thumb. You’ll get more growl out of a SSII than a SSI, but I think this is just a combination of the pickups and the body wood. To my ears the SSI has a smoother tone than the SSII. None of this is fact, just my own limited experience. There’s no substitute for trying some out yourself though.
