1. Ok, this isn’t strictly Bass related as it’s on a g****r (my ’94 MIM Tele), but it can be directly related to similar era Fender basses and I’ve been wondering about this for a while A lot of the newer Fenders (MIM/MIA/MIJ/etc) seem to have very plain kind of satin/matt finished necks with fairly boring grain patterns and rarely have any figuring, but my Telecaster seems to have some fairly subtle flamed maple figuring (see pics – they don’t capture it that well but what do you think? I’m no pro). Is this usual/unusual for Fenders in general, Fenders from this era, or MIM Fenders? Thought I’d just put this out there cos it’s been on my mind for at least a year…
  2. It's almost worth buying that Jazz for the parts...
  3.
A lot depends on the weight and size, this is quite a heavy item and the box is fairly large. Rest assured that if it's less than I estimate I will say so. Not looking to make money out of the postage!
I've sent 35Kg 4x10 cabs through that for £11.99 Not trying to step on any toes, just trying to help your sale
  4.
Cheap at half the price. http://www.dedicatedaudio.com/power_cable Some of these are 'cryogenically treated'. FFS. If you can't blind 'em with science, baffle 'em with bullshit.
That site makes my head spin with absurdity. http://www.dedicatedaudio.com/inc/sdetail/1574 - Not the most expensive cable on the site, but I love the quote – “The Audience powerChord offers outstanding price to performance ratio” !!!!!!!! $370 for 12 inches of power chord that has an “outstanding price to performance ratio”! How the f*** can/did they measure that ratio? Normal power cable = approx $5 from eBay Audience PowerChord = $370 Now I’m not a qualified mathematician, but I make that a cost ratio of approximately 74:1 – how the f*** can the Audience PowerChord be scientifically 74 times ‘better’ than a bog standard 13A kettle lead?!?! I am neither shocked or amazed by this, but highly amused
  5.
I estimate that it'll cost £30/£40 to send by 48 hr courier with insurance, but will get a quote if required.
£11.99 for a 24 hour service with Parcel Force, maybe add another 50% for the insurance but check the T&Cs - http://www.senditnow.co.uk/ Best of luck with the sale. I'm keeping a close eye on this as I might be selling mine in the not too distant future.
  6.
check new prices though because they have risen in price considerably over the last month. the newer version initially, was made in the US but now made in Vietnam. Solid and reliable superb amp! if in good nick £500 is fair. good luck andy
£900 is fair for a used Warwick Streamer Stage I, but it aint gonna happen...

  8.
Looks like it's gone now! It was my only pedal left for sale/trades so had to whore it out to the whole of BC hoping for a buyer Times is hard!
yeah I know how that feels. I must have the record for bumps
  9. When I didn’t know better I’d use anything, but after more experience I’ve found that Rotosound strings don’t feel right for me. They’re almost too grippy under my sausage fingers and slow down my playing. Don’t know why this happens, but I’d never choose them over pretty much anything else. To my ears they sound fine, but to my fingers they feel sh*t.
  10.
I'm struggling to find any other 2nd hand svt3s to compare with. I was thinking about 400? Does anyone know if that sounds fair or if its miles off?
Is it this one: Or this one: ?
  11. do you have any clips of the MXR M88?
  12. Ah man, the birdseye maple top with the black binding on that tele looks so good. £700 with the reserve not met – I wonder how much they’re wanting for it.
  13.
Fancy a px on my dunlop bass wah? It's up for £65
Is there anyone you're not going to offer it to?
  14. My number 1 and (new) 2: Just have to get my Jazz built and I'll have everything covered
  15.
And a stereo output on your bass.
Or depending on the effect, a signal splitter would do it - maybe the LS2? Some effects have 'normal' as well as 'effect' outputs; the 'normal' output is the bypassed dry signal as well as the effect signal when it is activated, and the 'effect' output is only on when the effect is active (if that makes any sense?)
  16.
These are pretty much unavailable in this country - we had to import ours from America.
I’ve heard these are great pedals. I’m not sure where you were looking when you bought yours but you can get them all over the place in the UK. Anyways, best of luck with the sale mate
  17. I use a comfort strap with Dunlop strap locks. It’s a good combo

    Duh!

The info under your avatar will stretch the size of the post if you've not filled it with enough text. If there's a lot of text or a picture/attachment in your post then it will fill the space. Hope that makes sense

    Running Order

It’s always a good idea to have the tuner at the start of the chain so the signal isn’t affected by any other pedals - more accurate tuning.
  20.
You certainly don't need the one at £199.00 unless you are using it every day. Don't buy the B&Q or any other budget one They are poorly made and you will struggle to get good results with them. The only budget tools I use are belt sanders from B&Q at £9.99 each use them for a few months and then get another. I use a Bosch POF 1200 This is well made and stays locked at the plunge depth. It is a joy to use and mine has now routed out over 20 basses. Another thing to take into consideration is the bits. For roughing out I use sets of bits from Aldi and bought 3 sets of 20 bits for £15.00 !!! Once these are blunt I throw them away. For finishing I use quality Bosch bits that are £15.00 - £20.00 each I could write an whole essay on this but its easier for you to search the web for technique and tips. Paul. Last point.....Health and Safety. Be careful and practice a lot on scrap wood until you are proficient and confident. We don't want you to end up in hospital as routers can be dangerous if used incorrectly...
Cheers for the tool tips mate. I'll probably end up in B&Q this evening...
  21.
Dead easy buy the best router you can afford. You tend to get what you pay for with tools.
I hear what you’re saying, but should I use this - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?...p;isSearch=true – or this - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?...p;isSearch=true – or this - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?...p;isSearch=true – or do I need something like this - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?...p;isSearch=true ? In all honesty, the one for £25 looks like it’ll do the job, but then to me it looks pretty damn similar to the one that’s £200. I literally do not have a clue what it is that I need to look for when buying a router for this kind of thing.
  22. The saga continues… After 2 months of trying to organise getting my Jazz body routed, I’ve pretty much decided to do it myself, but I’ve got a few questions aimed at those who either do this for a living, have done it in the past, or like me – an amateur DIYer that gave it a go…how hard is it and what’s the best way of going about it? I’ve read a few online guides, such as this - http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/body.htm - but I feel I still need some advice before I go for it. My main questions at the moment revolve around what tools to use – what router should I buy? Obviously I’m trying to keep my costs down but I don’t want to buy some cheap tat if it’s going to ruin my project, but in the same breath I don't want to buy a top of the range router if a really cheap one would do the same job – I don’t need it to last for 10 years being used everyday. Once I’ve bought my router I can practice on scrap wood and then ask some more questions when I realise that I’m in over my head…
  23. Chances are I'll be back in the MM club on Saturday morning...
  24.
But you want something different to off the shelf so why not try it. You might find it good fun (you might find you're quite good at it and want to make more). Get yourself a router and go for it - maybe in a few months people will be offering you money to cut their neck pocket
Sounds like a plan. I've heard the going rate to charge is £170
  25.
£170? Buy a f***ing Squier VMJ mush.
Exactly. If I just wanted a fairly good budget Jazz bass then I probably would.
