2.
Would sanding scratches out the back of a neck comprimise the wood? I just want to make sure before doing it.
How bad are the scratches and what wood is the neck made from and how is it finished? Post a pic if you can.
  3.
I think Jon posted a few pages back in this very thread Korea Diarrhea and Brit Sh*t are the preferred terms for the appropriate countries. Now where does that leave Warwick and Vigier?
German Vermin? ...says the guy with 3 Warwick's in his avatar
  4.
That'd be 'Yank w***". Edit: The swear filter put paid to that one, but I'm sure you can guess the missing letters.

Mia Diarrhea?
5. A bit OT, but what's the USA equivelent of "Jap Crap"? - "Yank Cack"?

  7.
I don't think they'll be too concerned right now: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39730
Damn, I must have had my head up my arse for the last 24 hours. I didn't notice this at all.
  8. I need to get my Jazz build routed: I was hoping a friend of mine would be able to help me out with the routing but it seems to be taking too long to organise and I just want to get on with this project. I need the neck pocket, pickups and rear control cavity to be routed. I don’t have a lot of cash so I’m trying to get it done as cheap as possible, but I’m more than happy to pay the going rate for a good job. Does anyone know where I can get some routing done in Portsmouth or Hampshire?
  9.
Interesting and practical thread people. But I have to say the whole 'true bypass' thing has become overblown - it all depends how the 'active bypass' is implemented and it can , at times, be a positive advantage in converting the signal into one with low impedance. ( allowing for the fact that some 'fuzz' fx depend on being fed from a high impedance pickup / source )
Good point. Can you give an example of a pedal with a good buffered active bypass?
  10. Seems crazy that they'd advertise the bass if it was never gonna get offered to the public - trading standards anyone? I bet it generated them a lot of hits on their site and a few more sales - not a bad marketing ploy if you ask me. This story reminds me of something I heard about Tesco around xmas - basically they were advertising Bayleys at £9 a large bottle, but they never actually had any in stock cos they all sold out within 48 hours. They continued advertising the offer for about a month but never put any more on sale. A woman from trading standards who was a Tesco customer started the process to take them to court over it. Not sure I'd try and take on Tesco in court though
  11. I went from a Carlsbro 1x15 100W combo, to a 300W Trace Elliot 7210H, then bought a 15W practise combo when I moved to Scotland for a few months, then sold the Trace after 5 years of amazing tone/performance to upgrade to an Ampeg all valve rig (SVT-CL and SVT-410HLF) then sold that cos it was a complete f***er to shift around and went to a super lightweight Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 and Epifani UL310 rig which is where I am right now. This evolution has taken about 7 or 8 years and I’ve no doubt it will continue to evolve

    Ampeg
I have to admit, after extensivly using the Ampeg VST plug in, i really am coming round to that tone...
IME, I’ve got a better tone recording with the Ampeg SVX plugin than with my old all valve rig (and that was in a pro studio). Doesn’t really mean a lot, but for me it just exemplifies how good the SVX plugin is. For a live situation there’s nothing that can beat an Ampeg trouser flapper
  13.
You've obviously cross polarised the infrangic cock-truss array with the starboard phase cancelling inter-rossitor, resulting in an inverse dielectric transferance of the the dilithium crystal structure which should be 2(5)6 dilithium 2(i)l diallosilicate 1:9:1 heptoferranide. When finished and wired properly, it should look like this:
That was exactly what I was going to suggest...
  14.
I'm in Guildford, so not too far. I'll take some pics today and try and post them this afternoon.
Great stuff, just down the road then. I’ll PM you with an email address for pics.
  15.
Just out of interest, how much would the Streamer be worth if you were selling it here on the forum? I have two Sterlings and one has a maple board but I've got to be honest, I'm really just toying with the idea at the moment. I used to have a Jazzman Streamer and I found the neck felt a little round for my liking, is that normal amongst Streamers or Warwicks in general?
In all honesty I wouldn’t know how to value it cos the market is all over the place at the moment and I’ve never seen another Warwick that’s similar to this, but I’m not looking for an outright sale. I think there’s a lot to be said for the condition of this as well; disregarding a couple of very tiny dings that are barely noticeable, it’s basically in ‘as new’ condition, which is incredible for a 13 year old instrument. The neck on this feels great and is more of a C shape than the ‘normal’ Warwick U shape. There’s a bit more info on Warwick necks here - http://www.warwick.de/modules/custom_shop/...10999&cl=EN – but I don’t know the exact specs of my bass. The neck on this is on par with some of the smoothest and thinnest Warwick necks that I’ve played. I don’t know if that helps?
  16.
All of the above.... with one teency overlooked fact; that it is a bolt-on!
Is it? It's a bit unclear what this is cos the picture of the front of it isnt really big enough to see the neck joint. Is it a 'Bolt-On'? The headstock just says "Streamer Bass".
  17.
Definately interested. I have a black MM Sterling, Rosewood board, that I would be up for trading. Got the hard case for it as well. I think it's from 2004 but I'll check the serial in the next couple of days. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow.
Sounds good. Ideally I'm after a maple board but I'm definitely interested in yours. Where abouts are you mate? Looking forward to pics
  18. great intro. Welcome to the forum
  19. It looks great but that crack looks scary. I wouldn’t touch it without seeing more pics or actually seeing it in person. I'd definitely change the hardware for black...
  20. Doing a bit of a clear out and come across these. They’re no use to me and thought that someone on here might need them for a project. I would have used them to make a wheelable platform for moving gear around but I’ve gone all lightweight and can move my whole rig by myself at once. Free to collect in Pompey or £2.50 postage
  21. Doing a bit of a clear out and come across this. It’s not use to me anymore. It’s just a cheapish leather effect acoustic guitar holdall/softcase/gig bag kind of thing. Doesn’t have any shoulder straps, only handles. Very light and would provide a good basic protection for an acoustic guitar. It's a bit dusty cos it’s been tucked away in the loft for about 5 years. Free to collect from Pompey or £3 postage
  22. My ’96 Streamer Bolt-On for your Musicman Sterling? I’ve been GASing for a Sterling for about 6 months. Is anyone interested in a trade for my fantastic Streamer Bolt-On that is in a truly mint condition with a highly figured maple body (quilt and birdseye) finished in the coloured oil finish – dark antique tobacco, PJ pickups, gold hardware with the JAN-I brass nut. It’s a great player and it currently set up with a really smooth low action. The neck is nice and thin – on par with a good Jazz neck. I’m only considering letting this go because it sounds and feels so similar to my SSI (which is my main bass) that it doesn’t get used very often at all. I’ve previously owned a Stingray from new for about 4 years and I’m wanting that Musicman sound back but in the more playable form (IMO!) of a Sterling The Streamer comes hard-cased. Anyone interested?
  23. Sounds good what you’re doing. Similar to the Bergantino IP cabs? Not so sure on your grill design though - For a fickle market the "image" is so important. I’d love to hear a prototype. Good luck with it
  24. Hi mate. It’s totally fine to post links to your own ebay stuff but generally if you’re selling it then you should put it in the relevant “For Sale” forum – I’d guess that this would fit in the “For Sale: Effects” forum. Generally the “eBay Links” forum is used to discuss other people’s (non forum members) listings. Looks like a nice compressor though. Good luck with it.
