Traded a bass with Dave and it couldn’t have gone smoother. Great communication throughout, and he even bought a new Gator hardcase for the bass to be shipped in. Top bloke. Thanks for everything mate; it's been a pleasure dealing with you

I've bought loads of music stuff online - mostly strings and recording gear. I'd only buy a bass/guitar if the price was reeeeeally good. EDIT: I’ve issues with Dolphin in the past, but that was due to something not being in stock and them not telling me, and then I ended up waiting 2 months for it to be delivered. Everyone else I’ve used (and I’ve used most of the big UK online retailers) have been great.
Ben, On the front page of the ad, it says free shipping on anything over £100 In there last big Reverb sale in Aug/Sept, I bought a US Spector 5 and they charged £10 for next day delivery
Great stuff, cheers for the info By the sounds of things I might be about 2 months late, but I'll give them a call anyway.
Well. 72 hours after selling my red SR5, I am now expecting a nice new white SR5 through my door soon
good stuff, at least it went to someone on here.
Not sure about that but they'll at least ship it to your nearest store FOC if they're anything like sound control.
hmmm...at least a couple of hours drive then, not much use. I'll give them a call in the morning and see what's what.

Does anyone know if they'll ship to your house from their stores? I.E. if I wanted something from the Glasgow store, would they ship it to my house? EDIT: I'm not after that Streamer $$ BTW I'm after something much much cheaper :brow:

Can’t believe those prices, madness! Any reason for the cheapness?
Nah, just call it free form jazz and we'll be ok.
maybe Bilbo should get involved then, this is right up his street…
...if you've invested lots of cash in an 003 then you can be tracking 24 ins at once, thus 48 suddenly gets very limited once you're recording drums, etc...
If you're tracking 24ins at once, what are you doing? Live orchestral stuff? (no sarcasm meant, would just be interesting to know) - ProTools LE is meant for the keen amateur. A keen amateur will rarely need more than 48 tracks, if ever, and the 48 tracks are 48 live tracks playing back simultaneously - you can have more than 48 tracks in one session but they won't be able to all play back at the same time but you will be able to bounce down the whole session. If you're regularly exceeding 48 tracks then the LE version isn't for you, but the price increase in the HD hardware is excessive. You can get amazing results using 4 quality mics on a drum kit IME.

I’ve only encountered really bad service once, and that was when I was 18 (and I looked very much like a young 18 year old guy) and I asked a local music shop if I could play a Stingray and a Sterling to A/B them so I could understand the differences. The old f***er in there looked at me as if I’d just told him I was nobbing his wife and then said, “ah I don’t know about that lad, are you gonna be buying one?” in a very sarcastic way. I told him that I didn’t know until I tried them out. He then verbally told me the differences between the 2 basses and pretty much told me to f*** off and stop wasting his time – the shop was empty. On the same day I went to another shop and bought a brand new Stingray. I went back to the old guy in the first shop a few months later and asked him if I could try a bolt-on Thumb. He looked at me again and said something along the lines of, “that’s an expensive one that is”, and I then told him about my Stingray and that I felt I could do with something slightly different; he looked gobsmacked. He then went to get the Thumb down for me but I told him not to bother, then I walked out. There’s too many stories of bad service in music shops. It’s hit and miss though. That particular shop has expanded and is doing a lot of business AFAIK, but I’ve ended up going back there a few times for bits and bobs through lack of choice; local music shops tend to have the market to themselves because there’s limited high street competition. You can’t ‘try before you buy’ with Thoman et al…

Okay with a low B?
yeah im tempted to come and have a look... got to resist though cos I'll probbaly buy it and end up having to bend over for the bank manager to reclaim his £275 from my ass
whatever anyones willing to pay for it really! So far Benwhites the highest bidder at 3.67 and a sherbert dip.
You mean you're not gonna take me up on it? You bring the sherbert and I’ll bring the dip? :brow: Seriously though mate, this is killer amp that you should sell for at least what you got it for after it's been repaired. All the best with the band stuff as well man - sh*t happens, but it's how you deal with the sh*t that counts. *pats on the back* etc...

Good choice I almost laughed when I picked up mine for the first time; it's so bloody light and compact!

Realistically, statistics would show that a Fender is more likely to crop up time and time again in any genre - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hat+do+you+play – this isn’t exactly a shocker though. I’d bet £100 that if every bass player in every band in every genre was asked what bass they play, then Fender would be the manufacture that would be the most popular amongst bass players in most genres. I’d be shocked if Warwick came out on top as the most popular bass for the metal genre if such research was carried out. I think Warwicks sound great in any genre, but then that’s just my biased opinion

haha, looks like there's 3 different solos kicking off at the same time

should be fun ------ ------ -7---- ----5- Edit: after about 50 notes someone should transcribe it out with a rhythm/time signature/tempo.

You have to name and shame...

It's not that bad, but it's a shame he felt the need to do it to a '65 and not a '95
Very nice Ben. It'd be interesting to hear that stacked up against a wenge/ovankol model.
Definitely. I love the sound/feel of my SSI maple NT neck so we’ll see how this compares. I love the look of the flamed maple neck though :brow: I reckon the antique tobacco oil finish with the highly figured maple is looking pretty nice as well, I’ll have to see about getting some black hardware for this…
You learn something new every day. BO Wicks aren't my bag but I can't ever remember seeing a review of a BO maple necked Streamer! There are a few NT editions that have 3 laminate maple necks but I thought W preferred wenge and ovankol for their BO due to the strength.

...but 'if' that is a maple neck (wenge board) then it is 'wrong'
I have a maple necked '96 Streamer 'Bolt-On' coming my way on Tuesday...
